i enjoy hearing about really specific hobbies and interests people have, so i thought id make a thread inquiring about that.

i'll go first: i'm a big fan of hoarding graphics, and especially .GIF archival. in fact, i love hoarding and sorting anything digital - i have a 55 GB SSD full of almost entirely free games ive found from various places, and a collection of links to interesting websites online.
i also like learning about OSHA [yes, the american government organization, that one], nuclear power plants and nuclear reactor meltdowns, and hazmat suits and other forms of personal protective equipment. what about the rest of you all?

Vaporwave as a genre interests me immensely, and a lot of my personal friends know me for my fascination with it.

I may not have such an eccentric hobby, but I also like to delve into some specific topics. For example, I am interested in various technologies in the field of advertising and marketing. I once came across https://smartyads.com/, a full-stack programmatic ad tech company that has created a comprehensive programmatic infrastructure for advertisers and publishers. It was interesting to study how such companies help to optimize and improve advertising processes. I also often get stuck studying old ad banners and technologies that were used in the 90s and 2000s. It doesn't seem like such a rare hobby, but among my friends, such interests are surprising.

Yesss, I love niche hobbies! Learning about them, doing them, watching other people do them... Anyone can make me excited about something if they have enough passion for it.

I collect fountain pens! I also collect other art supplies, but fountain pens are my favorite. They're not to be confused with dip pens - if you need to dip it, it's not a fountain pen. FPs have ink reservoirs built into them, and the way they're filled with ink can vary from pen to pen.

They're easier on my chronic pain riddled hands compared to other writing utensils because they require 0 pressure to make a beautiful line. Every one I own feels like its own piece of art, and just writing or drawing with them brings me a lot of joy.
