"I'm coming!" Athena sighed. Closing her eyes, she took a deep breath, checked herself in the mirror, and nodded at the maid standing ready at the door. She strode out confidently, and twirled down the steps of the grand staircase. Smile. Back straight. Eyes ahead. Chat. Act mature. Impress. Smile a bit more. Sit up straight! No scratching.
I hate that stupid Duke Beankale. He wouldn't even taste that good for breakfast. I wish I could mess up his life. Just in a minor way. Maybe with magic... With one of those disgusting salads... His namesake is just as slimy and rotten as he is...
"Sorry, I couldn't find the special sugar kept just for our guests. Here, have some cupcakes."
Apparently there's a word for it.

was life as she'd never lived it before. Free to do as she pleased,
jump in puddles, climb trees, stroke stray cats. It didn't matter
if her clothes were scratchy. If her perfect blond hair was
splashed with mud. She didn't even care when she tripped and got
herself a nasty cut. This was life!
Athena was free. In the real world. Not the sunshine and sparkles she was expected to rule. And this world was millions, billions, gazillions times better than sunshine and sparkles. She'd escaped the guards, she'd got some delicious actual food, she'd had the time of her life. Heaven couldn't be better than this...
"'Ey! You dere! You, da on woo 'ook a bah in a 'wamp! Come 'ere!"
