Which is more powerful:

The power of Hatred or Love?

Disclaimer: Obviously all Pokémon belong to Nintendo, Gamefreak, the Pokémon company, etc.
The characters in this story are my own. Some are normal Pokémon, some only have markings different (like Tahruu), some are fusions, some are just completely altered while still being under one species.

This story can get descriptive in scenes of violence or anything where the characters can get injured. It's not advised for anyone under the age of 16 to read this fanfic, but I will attempt to keep it tame enough for everyone else as well.

You have been warned.

The overpowering scent of burning wood filled the air. The heat of the blaze was hot against his fur, even if he was part fire type. What a rude awakening from his day time slumber. There was a loud cracking sound, then a loud bang as a tree gave way under the flames and collapsed. Screams of various different species could be heard echoing through the raging flame that consumed their home. Again, a horrible thing to be awoken to.

The young Houndoom shook out his lustrous black fur as he stepped more into the blaze. Most of the forest was running in the opposite direction, but they were fending for themselves, not those trapped. As the blinding light only got brighter, it was clear that a lot of Pokémon had gotten trapped in this mess. Another creaking sound as another tree was about to give way under the stress of the flames. The Houndoom jerked his head to look at the source of the sound, his long demonic horns raking against his shoulders very lightly.

"VEE!" an Eevee yelled out, just as the tree started to fall. Before he could even stop to think, the Houndoom felt his paws rush his body over to protect the young fox. He felt the thick, soft fur in his fangs a split second before a searing pain registered from his spine. He turned his head and tossed the brown critter away from the tree he got trapped under, then barked at the kid.

"RUN! Be careful, but run as fast as your legs will carry you!"

He turned his head to see the mess he had gotten himself into, and immediately wished that he hadn't. The canine was pinned down by the weight of the tree, blood dripping from the cracks in his external bones. He couldn't pull free, and he was just a sitting ducklett just waiting to get burned or crushed to death. The Houndoom struggled what little he could, but after about half an hour, he was coughing and the air around him was much hotter than his own flames could ever get. It took everything he had to keep breathing, let alone to try and make any sound or keep any of his senses working. As far as he was concerned, he was as good as dead.

A wave of cold jolted the Houndoom, the water burning every injury along his form. He gave a growl as his red, black, and white eyes opened and glared at the human who was handling him.

"Easy, boy, easy" the human male said in a quiet tone, a Xatu by his side. The bird seemed to have a smirk on its beak, and the human laughed and gave a quick movement of his head.

"Yeah, I've never seen anything like it before either," he said, then looked back at the injured Houndoom.

Upon hearing this, the Houndoom quickly got to his paws, realizing there was no pressure holding him down anymore.
"Doom?!" he asked, looking down at his front paws. The cuffs. His beautiful, strong, double cuffed bones... They were different. They were split, and there were spikes along them. And his paws... The claws... They were crimson red and sharp.

He gave a yelp as he turned his head and saw that there were long curved spikes around his shoulders, and could notice that his skull necklace was different, longer, and somehow more sturdy.

"Wh-What happened?!" he barked, completely stunned by the changes.

"You mega-evolved. But without a human," a calm, deep voice said in the Houndoom's head, getting him to give another glare at the Xatu. In reply, the Xatu pushed an image into the Houndoom's head, which had him react in shock. Was that him? What was with that skull on his head? And his beautiful curved horns... They were GONE, replaced with long, slightly curved vertical horns instead. The spines along his back were the same, but there were three rounded bones around his tail. He quickly whipped his head around and froze when he saw that the bones on his tail were the same as the image the bird put in his head.

"M-Mega evolved?" he asked, looking back to the two strangers.

"Yeah. It is a new form of evolution that usually occurs only during battles when a Pokémon and a human are totally in sync. The human also has to have a mega bangle and the pokemon a stone that allows them to Mega-Evolve. Somehow you managed to bypass all the necessities, and were able to evolve. But, you also seem unable to revert to your normal form," the human explained and gently touched the Houndoom's head.

"I'm Navuso. The Xatu's my close friend, Xat. We found you pretty beat up, so figured we should help wash you up and tend to your wounds before they got infected," the human added, genuine concern in his dark eyes.

"The name's Tervoi," the Houndoom barked, knowing that it was only proper to introduce oneself after the other party has done the same. So somehow he had changed to this new form during the fire, and he couldn't return back... What was to happen now? Wait, the human... That probably meant that he'd be caught!

The Xatu, Xat, gave a chirpy giggle. The stupid avian wouldn't stay out of the canine's head, which was annoying.

"Don't worry. Nat isn't like most humans. He sees something rare and will keep it safe. Not try to covet it for himself. Though you seem to know how most humans are, that annoying voice forced its way into the Houndoom's thoughts again. Well, at least that meant he wouldn't become a slave to humanity.
