It was a normal school day in Hexside and students were leaving classes for lunch.

Lydian left her beast keeping class and headed to the cafeteria

I walked out of my Bard class with a heavy sigh. ¨You can make it Vex, just half the day left to go. You got this.¨ With that little pep talk, I started to the cafeteria.

I entered the cafeteria. Today was Griffin Eggs, if the smell was anything to go by. I grabbed my lunch, grabbed an Apple which was the only thing I planned on actually eating, and took my usual lone seat near the far corner. Head down, don´t talk, just eat a little and study for the rest of lunch.

Once I had finished my texts front to back and eaten all that I could stomach, I looked up and noticed something odd. Where are the Blight twins? Amity´s here, but no Edric or Emira. That´s when I noticed how shifty Amity looked. Something must´ve happened. After a little mental debate, I walked over and sat next to her.

Amity sat deep in thought when she heard a voice next to her. ¨Am, what happened?¨ The soft voice was familiar, and Amity suddenly remembered. ¨Oh, hey Vex´d. It´s Ed and Em.¨ Vex gave a grim nod, having figured as much. ¨Mom and Dad figured out they were dating Viney and Jerbo. There was a fight and- they- it-... They got kicked out of the house.¨

I bit my lip. I knew that the twins could handle themselves, Amity knew too. But still, who knows what could happen. Not only that, but knowing the Blights, they might do the same to Amity. Great, more glorified violin lessons. I sighed and walked to class. I got there just in time, as the bell rang quickly after. After taking a place in my seat, I tuned out the lesson I had heard many times before and began doodling. No one knew I liked to doodle and I liked to keep it that way, especially since the stuff I doodled probably was the kind of thing that would tick my parents off more than a bit.

[timeskip to final bell] YES. I put my sketching notepad away and started bolting to the school doors. I was always first out, class was pretty far but I was top runner on our [insert Boiling Isles version of Track here] team. I got out the door and met up with Carra, who showed up a few seconds later. She was runner up on the team. "I won!" She groaned playfully and blew her hair out of her face. "Barely. Now then, how was your day?" I gave her a light shove as a joke. "Boring, but not uneventful." She gave me a look I knew well, a look that said "Spill the drama." "Ok, so basically, Amity's siblings got kicked out of the house, and it's not hard to tell why. "Ugh, no wonder they weren't there. Usually they'd be making Alyssa's hair do flips while she was busy zoning out at Jay from across the lunch table."

A few minutes later we arrived home. We both sighed and prepared to deal with the parentals. As soon as the door opened, "Hello, you too." we recognized the voice. "Hello, mother. Is father here?" She sighed as if the question was an inconvenience to her. "Honestly you two, he isn't due home for another day. You know this. Carra, go straight to your room. Vee, i'd like to speak with you."

I sighed internally, knowing it could've been worse when suddenly I heard her voice again. "Oh, one more thing. Is there anything you'd like to tell me?" I weighed the possible answers she might be expecting and settled on something that I thought would work. "Amity and I haven't hung out much recently, she has a few important assignments coming up and hasn't had much free time." I instantly realized that Mother had been looking for something else. "Very well, to your room."
