The sun was bright, filling the city of Chicago with warm sunshine.
Swapping his usual trench coat and hat for a simple red and white
t-shirt and jeans, Noir walked downstairs happily, sitting down at
his dining table, quickly spreading butter on a piece of toast
before slinging on his backpack and leaving the house, his toast
still in one hand. He ate the breakfast quickly, standing at the
bus stop, waiting for it to arrive. Noir put on his earphones,
connected his phone to them and began to quietly hum to a song he
loved to listen to. His phone beeped, a message from one of his
friends. Noir read it, then chuckled, they could be funny, his
friends.
Junko woke up from her slumber. She felt..happy for some reason.
She was usually a moody teen. She tried to ignore it, as she went
on her phone, listening to music. She didn't know why this was
happening, but she shrugged it off. It felt weird, being
happy..then, she decided to get ready. She put on ripped jeans, and
a white top with a butterfly logo. She put on white shoes, ate
breakfast, and went outside her apartment. She got on the bus and
sat alone, putting her bag beside her.
Noir briefly ran a hand through his dark hair, waiting for the bus
to arrive to take him into town. Finally, it arrived, a few people
already in it. He stepped inside, paying for his ticket and found a
spot at the back, another teenager behind him.
June watched all the people inside the bus, her eyes sparkling. She
closed her eyes, humming along to the song playing on her
headphones. She hoped to find a good book in the library in town,
where she was heading.
Junko saw the two other teens walk in the bus. Then, she had that
same feeling again. Happiness. She grimaced at the feeling. She
didn't like being happy. She then felt like going to the library to
get books. She wasn't much of a reader. Why was she feeling this
way?? She put her star earrings on her elf ears, and tried to
ignore the feelings. She felt like something was wrong with
her...something strange. She sighed, as she waited to head to her
stop.
Her eyes still closed, waves of colours seemed to wrap around June,
surrounding her in soft pastel colours. The colours flowed around
her, and notes from songs began to play quietly around her.
Noir glanced at the other girl entering the bus. She looks like
she's in pain. he thought to himself, laughing to himself
quietly, But now is not the time to think badly of people. I
mean, what if she could read my mind? he thought. He shook his
head angrily and resumed his texting. For the last time, I don't
want to do that? How many times do I have to say it for you to
understand? Noir thought angrily, shutting off his phone,
frustrated. He groaned, Is it so hard for people to understand
simple things....never mind. Where should I go in town? Maybe...the
coffee shop? Yeah, I might go..." he thought.
Junko then had that same feeling again! It was a boy, thinking to
himself..talking about a girl who he thought could read minds? Then
he was going to go to the coffee shop..? That's where she was going
as well. Junko felt like she obtained a new power of some sort. She
thought about it for a few seconds, then shrugged it off, waiting
for her stop to arrive soon, while listening to music.
The bus came to a halt at Noir's stop. He picked up his bag and
went off the bus, heading for the coffee shop. He ordered a simple
hot chocolate and croissant and went to sit outside in the sun.
Birds squawked as they flew past him. A soft breeze swept his hair
back, making it go all messy. He groaned, Oh come on! he
thought to himself angrily, trying to fix his hair. Noir couldn't
and sighed, and began to eat his croissant.
Junko saw the coffee shop, got her bag, and got off the bus as she
walked to it. Junko then had that feeling of her hair getting
messy. She patted her hair, as she went inside, ordered a normal
coffee, and sat down one table across from the boy. She sighed, as
she ruffled her white long hair, and continued to listen to music.
She then thought about her ability.
Noir glanced to his side, the girl was there again. He frowned and
inspected her for a moment. She's actually quite pretty....
he thought for a moment then shook his head ferociously, his face
turning slightly red. What am I thinking? Shut up Noir! Oh my
god....oh my god... he thought angrily, Noir felt like he
wanted to slap himself. He almost felt like letting the shadows
swallow him up, but that revealed too much about himself.
Junko was drinking her coffee, when she had that same feeling
again. A boy..thought she was pretty..? Junko looked at the boy,
then looked down and blushed. Was it he who was thinking about her?
Junko finally found out the feeling. "Thinking..thoughts.." She
whispered to herself. She had the ability to read minds!! She
calmed herself down. Maybe she could focus on the boy's mind, so
she could learn more about him. She had to keep this a secret..
June sat next to Noir, "Hey Noir, wanna come to my house? I really
wanna hear you sing again..." she said with pleading eyes. Noir
smiled, he couldn't say no to those eyes, "Okay fine....but I don't
really like singing but I'll do it," he said, and followed June to
her house. She pressed play on the music and sat down on a beanbag,
waiting for Noir to began. He took a deep breath and began...
Cover me in sunshine.....
Shower me with good times
Tell me that the world's been spinning since the beginning
And everything will be alright
Cover me in sunshine....
he sung, and a feeling of warmth and happiness enveloped him and
June, who smiled. "Oh Noir! You're so good at singing, even better
than me, who's the music expert!" she squealed. He laughed, "I
guess it's down to my powers I guess..."
From a distance all these mountains
Are just some tiny hills
Wildflowers, they keep living
While they're just standing still
I've been missing yesterday
But what if there's a better place?
he continued, bringing tears to his and June's eyes.
Junko frowned when a girl sat next to him. Her blush fading away.
She decided to follow the two to the girl's house and peeked
through the window to see the boy singing. Junko's eyes lit up.
"Wow, he's good at that.." Junko thought to herself. Junko
smiled, then made it go away. She didn't want to be happy, not
after what happened to her family a few years ago. She stopped
smiling after that, and never showed any other types of emotion,
other than pale ones. Junko sighed, as she walked away from the
house, and went back into the coffee shop. She then got out of the
shop a few minutes later. She spotted a tree as she sat under it,
while listening to music.
"Gotta go June! I need to head to class, you know, swim lessons.
We've got a competitions soon and I don't want to miss any training
lessons." he exclaimed and headed off to the gym, where his lessons
were held. Noir took his shirt off and changed into his swim trunks
and jumped in the pool, and began to listen to his swim coach, who
was explaining today's lesson. After doing a few laps, some of the
boys began to use their powers in the water, making it incredibly
difficult to learn. He sighed.
Junko watched as she saw the boy swimming. She sighed. She grabbed
a book from her bag. She used her eyes to make light, to see the
words under the shadow of the tree better. She didn't use her
powers in a long time. Junko focused on the words of the book,
while still listening to music.
Noir watched as Junko used her power, he frowned, it was quite an
unusual one. After the lesson finished, he wrapped his towel around
himself and headed to the changing room, changed and headed out.
I think I should introduce myself to her...it's only polite as
we've seen each other a lot already... he thought and walked up
to her. "Um...hello, we've seen each other a bit already, how are
you? M-my name is Noir," he stuttered.
Junko was startled when the boy spoke, as her light disappeared.
She got up and dusted herself off. She thought she was a mess,
looking like this in front of him..wait, why did she think that??
She then shrugged it off, and introduced herself to the boy. "Oh,
I'm hey, My n-name is Junko..it's nice t-to meet you, Noir.." Junko
said, as she tried to hold in her blush.
"Nice to meet you to, Junko." Noir said. Oh no, I have no idea
what to say next....I really want to ask her if she wants to go for
a coffee but she'll probably decline. Great, I've put myself in a
tricky situation. What to say next....I have no idea... Oh no!
he thought, panicking. Cut it out, Noir! I'm embarrassing
myself, and in front of a pretty girl as well!
Junko read Noir's mind, and blushed hardly. She then grinned. "You
wanna go out for coffee?" Junko giggled. A boy liked her! Junko
felt happy, but she didn't grimace. She wanted to feel happy more
often, and that was when Noir was around. "C'mon, let's go!" Junko
said, smiling widely. Her ears twitched in delight.
Junko then frowned when Noir said that. "Yeah...mind reader.." She
said. Junko then shrugged it off, as the two walked to the coffee
shop, grabbed their drinks and sat down. "So, what do you do for a
living, singing, swimming, anything?" Junko said, trying to make
this easy for and and Noir. Her star earrings glowed, but she did
notice. She grinned at Noir, waiting for a reply.
