There was a beast that was said to be of the greatest power, a Pokemon greater than Arceus itself. The Fire Beast. It was a pokemon of utter destruction, raging throughout the lands destroying everything in its past. But then the Great Protector came. The wise one who discovered the Fire Beast's greatest weakness. Or so we think. But to everyone, The Great Protector is the greatest hero in all of the Hinata Region. He is honored above all else. Because without him, everything would be destroyed by the Fire Beast...right?

Chochi the Meowstic is not a fighter. That's what Chochi thought as he was pushed into a stack of crates, causing them to topple to the stones and explode, sending berries from all regions tumbling over the ground. The one who had pushed him, a Purrlion girl with cat ears and a long, snaking sytche tail, snickered. "Oops," she sneered. "Sorry Chochi, I didn't realize you were there. You're just so short, y'know? Nobody knows you exist." "Yeah," the round-shouldered Granubbul boy beside her volunteered, his thick brows making his already tiny eyes seem minuscule, little space between his eyes and his lips, pulled back by his huge fangs that hung over his jowls. "Yeah, nobody knows he's there cause he's nobody..wait. How would nobody not know who nobody is?" He scratched his head, and the girl groaned, "I swear Hitaka, you have absolutely zero brains." "Sorry Sakura," the boy said glumly, halting his hair-scratching.

"Anyways," Sakura said, turning her attention to Chochi, using her tail to pin his sweater to keep him from scrambling away, "We can't let you go to the Great Protector's festival." Chochi mumbled something, and she snapped, "What did you say? Hitaka, get him." Hitaka nodded eagerly, striding to the Meowstic boy and picking him up by his double tail. "Whaddya say?" he grunted, shaking Chochi roughly. "I said I wasn't even going," Chochi said a little louder. "Oh really?" Sakura said sarcastically. "What, and are you a Legendary Pokemon now?" "No," Chochi insisted, "Eldo says that The Great Protector isn't real." Hitaka gasped and dropped him with a thump. Sakura just rolled her eyes. "Eldo's an idiot. But now you need to learn a lesson, saying something like that."

Just then, there was a bright light. Sakura and Hitaka whirled around, to see someone aproaching.

An old, hobbled Oranguru came into view, with long purple and white braided hair that fell to his knees, and a tunic made of purple, orange, and blue material. "Get out of here, you bullies!" The old man shook his staff, which had a strange fan-like charm on it, and Sakura just laughed. "Go away, Eldo. No one is scared by you." "Fine then," he growled, and another bright light appeared. Since it was closer, Hitaka and Sakura yelped, mostly out of annoyance. "Alright, alright, we're going. But I hope you choke on a Pinap berry," Sakura shot at him, and Hitaka grunted, "Yeah." "Oh shut up!" Sakura screamed at him, and he scrambled after Sakura as she stalked away, her scythe tail swishing.

Eldo limped to Chochi, who was picking himself up. "Are you alright, boy?" he croaked. "Fine," Chochi said quietly. "Why didn't you fight back!" the old man exclaimed, throwing up his arms. "It wouldn't have done nothin' to Sakura, and Hitaka's bigger than me," he pointed out, and the old man simply responded with, "Pffft, hogwash. Walk with me."

The two of them started off, away from the crowd which was hurrying to a square of some kind. They crossed through the empty market and made a shortcut that took them to a large field. The grass swished against their legs. Finally, Eldo spoke. "You're a smart kid, not believing in the Great Protector." "Well, you're smart, and you say he's fake." "I'm an old man. Not a lot of youngsters will believe an old man."

"Well, I do."

"Good."
