Wyndon, Galar, is the hometown of Miss Faeryn 'Fae' Nightingale. She was born into an upper-class family; however, as both of her parents are high-ranking researchers, they're often away for work, leaving Faeryn to take care of herself. At the age of ten - when Faeryn was old enough to get her Pokémon Trainer's license - they sent her to study at the International Pokémon Trainer's Academy, a prestigious school located on its own private island.

With the nature of her background, young Faeryn is a timid but sweet girl. She has a gentle soul but lacks the confidence to truly bond with her peers. Yet, as quiet as she is, Faeryn is incredibly knowledgeable, having spent her time home alone reading her parents' research papers (quite advanced literature for her age). From evolution, and the different methods of, to the properties of different berries, Fae typically aces any theory tests thrown her way.

In her teens, Faeryn - now preferred to be called by her whole name - has, by now, gained much more certitude in herself. Although often trying too quickly to acclimate this new-found confidence into her daily performances, it's not uncommon for her to retreat back to her bashful self. With what some would describe as tsundere tendencies, due to her insistence on trying to mature faster, Faeryn will snap at those whom she feels are treating her like a baby. In her eyes: she was never a baby, forced to grow up too soon. Faeryn suffers from anxiety caused by this frustration.

Miss Nightingale is the favorite teacher of many students. Her kindhearted nature paired with her persistent mindset has helped her connect with some students who would otherwise have no one to turn to. Faeryn has found a balance within herself, despite her workload sometimes triggering her old anxiety. She loves her job, maybe more so with her kindergarten class, where she feels that little more protective over the children, almost motherly in a way.

(TW: the following information contains the mention of blood, death and a description of a school shooting)

Abigail Carter is the youngest child of five and, with four older brothers, is also her parents' only daughter. They are a middle-class family who have recently just renovated and moved into their late grandparents' home in the suburbs of New York City. Her household currently consists of herself, her brothers [17 & 18], her mother [39], and her father [41]. Her two oldest brothers [20 & 22] have already moved out of the family home.

Growing up with only brothers, Abigail has not become the princess her mother had dreamed of having since she herself had been a child. Instead, they got a little ruffian who was not afraid to voice their opinion and instigated just as many fights with her siblings as they did. Still, that didn't stop her parents from spoiling her the second they found out that they would finally be having a daughter, after years of trying.

The annual purge was not something that Abigail worried too much about. Every year, she and her family would hide out in the old underground bunker in their backyard. As well as being fairly well hidden by overgrown foliage, the door could also lock from the inside. The bunker was always well stocked with canned and shelf-stable goods, as well as with a good supply of bottled water and handgun ammo, just in case of an emergency.

This year seemed to be like every other and, at 7 am, the Carter Family left the bunker unharmed. Abby would only have several minutes to gather her things for school before the bus arrived to take her across the city. Getting on the bus alone, her brothers had decided to skip once again. That morning, the bus is eerily empty but sadly normal the morning after the purge. Abby tries her best to not think of all the possibilities why.

At school, no one talks about what happened the night before. Instead, with her small circle of friends, Abby discusses the plans for her upcoming 15th birthday during classes. It's enough to raise the mood a little. At some point, Abigail receives permission to use the bathroom but it's on her way back when she hears a loud commotion coming from the entrance of the school, followed by what sounded to be the spraying of bullets.

Running into the school's janitor - the old guy that Abby had always gotten creepy vibes from - quickly snatches her arm and pulls her further down the hall. As she tries to fight back, he shushes her before mumbling something about 'it not being over'. They reach the closet where all of the school's cleaning supplies are kept, and he opens the door. It's dark, and messy, but at the back, Abby is able to make out a small worn cupboard.

Forcefully, he manages to stuff her inside. It's a tight squeeze that forces her knees to her chest and for her neck to bend in a weird position. It hurts. He tells her, no matter what, to keep still and quiet, and that someone will come to get her. After that, he leaves, closing the door and darkness fills the room. Scared and confused, she bites down on her lip in hopes of keeping her breathing steady.

The commotion gets louder as it gets closer. A chorus of screams, shouting, running, and shooting fill the halls. It was only moments ago that the room was last lit up when the door opens again suddenly. Those seconds felt like the longest of her life. But as quickly as it happened, she could hear footsteps moving away from her location. For hours she sat there, until the building fell silent, and even then she stayed put.

No one did come to get her. When she finally braved her escape, it was well into the evening. With a nagging cramp in her neck, pins and needles in her legs, it's a relief to be able to stand and stretch her body. Cautiously, she steps out of the closet, almost slipping on a puddle of blood right outside the door. It was evident: her school had been massacred, and the purge had not ended. The janitor - the old guy that perhaps Abigail had totally misunderstood - was now laying on the ground, amongst other students who had tried to run, and covered in blood.

It would seem as though he was right. The purge was not over.
