"Good," she said smugly, sitting down. "And I'll wake you up, don't
worry." She didn't say anything else, just went back to looking at
feeds. After the time was up, she glanced at Colt, a smirk creeping
across her face. She slowly closed the computer, standing up and
walking out of the room. A few minutes later, she returned holding
a plastic cup of water. Standing over the still-sleeping Colt, she
slowly tipped the cup, letting the water splash onto him.
Eyes snapping open, Colt gasped in shock as water dripped down his
face. He registered what had happened immediately and sat straight
up. "Look here, Ms. 'bell!" he spluttered, wiping water from his
eyes.
Nadia cackled with laughter. "You said to wake you up, so I did,
didn't I? And you got a-" she doubled over with laughter,
"refreshing drink to start your day!" Her shoulders shook, she
couldn't contain her laughter.
"Somehow, I was expecting this..." he muttered, unable to hold back
a bit of a smile. Leaping to his feet, he made a grab for the cup
Nadia was holding, his eyes sparkling conspiratorially.
"Gah!" he laughed, holding up an arm in an attempt to shield
himself. Trying again to retrieve the cup, he chuckled, "Alright,
Shorty, get over here. You're too dangerous."
She stuck her tounge out at him. "Nope, don't think I will." She
considered the cup of water. "What do you think?" Barely moving her
lips, she said in a high squeaky voice, "I think you should keep
trying to pour water on him!" "You know what cup, I think I will!"
"No, bad cup! BAD CUP!" he admonished, stepping back a bit.
"Nadia," he began, mock-warily. "You wouldn't... Weeee can talk
about this!" Committing himself to the dramatics, he continued, "It
doesn't have to end like this!"
"I'm afraid..." she said, playing along, "It must be this way." She
broke charecter, grinning. "And now that your guard is down, I will
do this!" She walked up to him, standing on her tip toes, and
spiling the water over his face and shirt. "Pity," she mused, "I
wanted your head to get wet. Completley soaked."
"Nnoooooo!" he cried mournfully, bring the back of his hand to his
forehead in a pretend swoon. In a deeper tone, he said gravely,
"You leave me no choice... but to bring you down with me!" Shirt
still sopping wet, he lunged forward and hugged her, laughing like
a maniac.
She gasped. "No! Colt!" But, she had to laugh as well. "Okay, you
win, I'm wet." She hugged him back. "There, I'll even hug you so
that I'm even more soaked. Are we even?"
"We're even, I suppose," he grinned. Wringing out his shirt and
running his hands through his hair, he added in a whisper, "You're
lucky the school banned water balloons..."
"Who do you think caused that ban?" She whispered back. There was
another knock at the door. Nadia glanced behind Colt at it, before
going to the cameras. "That's..odd. It's Dan, he's a kid in my PE
class." She looked at Colt. "Should we open it? He looks kind of
nervous."
Glancing at the computer, Colt shrugged. "If you think he wouldn't
be the type to stab others in the back, either literally or
metaphorically, then probably. It couldn't hurt to see what he
wants, and if Ms. Luswire was able to find where we're hiding out,
it's not like it's much of a secret anymore."
"All I can think of at the moment is that he gets mad really easily
and he smells awful after class. Honestly, as long as you don't
tick him off, we'll be fine." She walked to the door and opened it.
Dan didn't step in, just exchanged a few words and handed her
something. Nadia closed the door as he left, turning around with an
envelope in her hand. "Forget attracting boring, this place brings
the weird people. I didn't know Dan was that..well that secretive."
"I won't say a word, then." Once the other boy had left, Colt
joked, "And I didn't know that learning Latin would ever be
important, but here we are." Shifting his weight and glancing at
the envelope, he added, "What'dya think made him feel the need to
deliver whatever it is in an envelope instead of just saying or
giving it to you?"
"Well, let's find out, shall we?" Glancing down at the envelope,
she opened it up, pulling out a peice of paper. She then read it
aloud. "I think I know who the Killer is, but if I'm wrong, I don't
want the real Killer to go after me. I know both of you are really
smart, well, at least Nadia since she's in my gym class and she's
usually slacking off doing some tech project. I didn't want to tell
you becuase I'm scared. There's a clue in here about who it is."
She looked in the envelope and pulled out a second peice of paper.
"The boiler room? This is weird."
Colt frowned. "So he wants to send us off to some vague location
because he himself doesn't want to do it?" The boiler room. It
haaaaddd to be the boiler room. One of the most unsafe places he
could think of.
"We could ignore it, but," she flipped the paper over, "It says
that there's more information there. I admit, this seems kind of
sketchy, but why pass up an oppurtunity to find out more? It's not
like we have any leads of our own."
"Alright, you're the boss. We are sticking together like glue,
though." He remembered the open tube of glue he'd left on the floor
the night prior and groaned, rushing over to it. Holding up the
now-useless item, he added, "Like super glue."
