At first, Nadia was a little smug, but then it clicked what he had just said. "I-Colt. Since you do not have said duct tape, I suggest you take me much more seriously or I will Asesinarlos a ambos verbal y posiblemente psicológicamente al mismo tiempo, dándoles un oído que hará que se arrepientan del día en que se cruzaron conmigo," she said camly, while smiling a little. "I have no idea what she just said, but it sounded terryfying," Dan muttered.

"With ya' there, Dan," he said, suppressing a grin and moving the car into drive. "Now, I know you're 'perfectly fine' and all, but if I hypothetically am driving to fast, you are required to inform me," Colt firmly said to Nadia, driving as slowly as he could over a speed bump.

"Well, you're not, so I'm fine," she quipped. Settiling in as best she could without moving too much, she stared at the road ahead, only realizing now that she herself was quite tired. Dan spoke up from the backseat after about 20 minutes. "I know this may sound random, but.." he hesitated. "What's going to happen to Amaya and I after her surgery? Are we going to foster care? "This is just a suggestion, and you are free to say no," he began, not taking his eyes off the road. "If you'd like, though, my mom's parents, my grandparents, still live on their own, not in a retirement community. Their house is really too large for them, and they have at least four extra rooms. They're still relatively young, only in their late 60's, early 70's, and they absolutely love children. I'd be more than happy to reach out to them, maybe arrange a chance for you to meet them, see if you might be interested in staying with them. One thing's for certain; no one's going to force you to go back to your parents if you don't want to."

"Honestly, all I care about is seeing Amaya safe and happy. She'd never be happy with our parent's, so my main priorities are making sure both of those get met." He hesitated. "I'll talk to Amaya about it when she's out of the hospital, so we'll see." Nadia was silent for a minute, before saying, "The minute I get out of this car I'm giving you the biggest hug, stab wound or not. You're honestly the bravest guy I've met in awhile. Well, contesting with Colt, but still."

An evil grin spread across Nadia's face, and Dan said, "Why did it get so quiet up there?" Nadia responded evenly, "Don't worry Dan. Just..." she paused dramatically, "making some plans."

Keeping his word and staying silent, Colt, just shook his head violently, eyes wide. Glancing to the side, he gave Nadia a glare, then returned his focus to the road, contemplating all the places in his house that a snake could possibly hide...

About twenty minutes later, they arrived at the Taylor's home. While Dan quickly got out of the car, Nadia was having some trouble, as she kept stopping and wincing.

Considering his vow of silence to be over, he rushed over to her, quickly saying, "Hey, let me help." Calmly, he touched a hand to Nadia's shoulder, hoping she wouldn't brush him off, measuring the distance to the house. Only about 20 more feet; he hadn't parked in the garage, for simplicity's sake, but was regretting that now. At least there were no stairs this way.

"I appreciate the gratitude," he joked, though really he was quite happy to help regardless. Helping her into the house, the blond winced to see Cam right inside the doorway, arms crossed, eyes narrowed. "Colton Taylor. Where. Have. You. Been. Why are there notes in the kitchen? Why did you message me at 1 last night? Why didn't you wake me?" he said, waving his hands. "Sorry, mother, I had something important to do," Colt muttered, then sighed, knowing his brother was just worried. "Look, we're okay, we saved a life or two and busted an evil corporation. I didn't wake you because I didn't want you to worry." He tried giving his brother a smile, then brushed past him to let Nadia sit down on the couch. Angel came tumbling down the stairs, excited that they were back, somewhat accepting of Dan now, whom Cameron had only just noticed and was staring at with a bit of confusion.

Dan waved akwardly, still standing in the doorway. "H-hi, you don't know me but your brother and Nadia saved me and my sister." He looked completely out of place and very much akward, slightly backing away with his hands jammed into his pockets. When Angel barreled torwad him, he jumped a little. Nadia collasped on the couch as best she could, sighing. "Oy ve, that shouldn't have been that difficult. And Cam, we can explain evreything, and I am apologizing now for kinda sorta stealing your phone. But I didn't actually take it, I swear!" She then let her head drop, very tired.

Cam just shook his head slowly. "I- hi. How did you steal my phone if I still have it? You two are crazy, jury's still out on the third one, I'm going back to bed, Mom and Dad don't know yet, and they're almost home." With that, he motioned for Dan to enter and moved to shut the door before heading back upstairs. Colt sat down on the couch beside Nadia with a sigh, touching his hand to his temple.

Nadia rolled her eyes and grinned. "Oh come on, I thought he already knew that," she joked. She glanced at Dan, who looked completley unsure of himself. "Dan, you aren't a statue, you can move, y'know." "S-sorry," Dan laughed nervously. "It's just weird being in a..a normal house that isn't metal and concrete and wires." "Yeah, well, the jury's still out on if Colt's brain is concrete, but you can come over, geez."

Angel bounded onto the couch beside him, tail wagging. "Well, you might not, but Angel loves me, despite my sanity," Colt laughed, fending off the collie.

~One Month Later~
Colt sat in his last class of the day; Advanced Chemistry. Not just the last of the day, but the last of the year, the last of high school, at least for him. And it was almost over. He and Nadia had enrolled in a local public school to finish out the year; it wasn't as prestigious, but that was quite alright with him, and it got the job done. Dan and Amaya had gone to live with his grandparents, and they were therefore in a different school district, but they saw them every once in awhile. In fact, he and Nadia did their best to meet up with the siblings and Salene whenever they got a chance, and had plans to do so even more over the summer. Next fall, Colt would be going off to college. He'd been accepted to the California Institute of Technology, the highest-ranked school in the chemistry department, a fact his parents were ecstatic about. His mother absolutely adored Nadia; she seemed thrilled to finally have someone to mirror the daughter she'd always wanted. He was glad his family had accepted her so readily. As the bell rang, he stood, gathered his stuff, and began to walk to the parking lot to meet her.
