Name: Nadia Melbourne
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Personality: Nadia is very holed up. She's not shy, quite the oppisite. It's more that she's in her own world. Nadia loves tech and it got her into the school. She's rather scatterbrained, and fun. She has the worst attention span and is very bubbly if she's not ignoring you because there's a malfunction in the software
Description-
This what she looks like, but she looks a lot younger. She's also got a tatoo of a bird on her kneck because she's stupid and made a fake ID to get into a tattoo shop. She also wears a necklace with a strange symbol, but she can't quite remember why or what it is.

Name: Colt
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Description: 5'11'', blue-green eyes, dirty blond hair, wears a black T-shirt and white jeans, as well as black Converse.

Personality: Calm and analytical, but also very competitive. He seems to believe it to be a competition to see who can remain the calmest in certain situations and who can comprehend schoolwork in the deepest way. Though very intelligent, he often can get carried away in the moment and overlook important details. Despite the urgings of his friends and family, he's never been particularly into sports.

Nadia, as always, found this class extremely boring. And she was making it clear. When the teacher, a rather strict man by the name of Mr. Stone, had his back turned, Nadia swung her feet up onto the desk, her combat boots landing with a clunk. She just wore them for style, Nadia's talents were strictly technical. She leaned back in her chair, staring up at the ceiling. Sometimes she wished she wasn't so...smart. Then this class would be nomal boring on the mainland.

RainRipple01/30/2021
Colt stared intently at the worksheet, trying to translate the teacher's words into answers. Granted, his eyes were beginning to drift shut due simply to the snooze-alon that this class was proving to be, but he intended to get everything possible correct here. His head whipped towards the girl called Nadia when he was startled out of focus by the noise of her shoes echoed around the classroom. With a sigh, he shook his head and turned back to the work, not wanting to seem like he had anything to do with it.

Dark_Spark01/30/2021
Mr. Stone was scratching words into the board. He was just about as ancient as the school, but his hearing was well enough that he heard the clunk of the boots. Whipping around, Nadia froze just as she was about to swing her legs back under the desk. "Nadia Melbourne, what do you think you're doing?" Nadia grinned akwardly. "Uh...faithfully paying attention to your most interesting and wonderful lecture about the theories behind atom structure?" This earned a few chuckles from the class that were silenced with a look from Mr. Stone that was just as cold and hard as his name. "Detention for unproffesional behavior and for distrupting the class." "Yes, no having to work in the-nevermind." Nadia sat properly, but when Mr. Stone went back to the board, continuing to drone on, Nadia scribbled on a peice of paper, crumpled it up, glancing around the room. Her eyes landed on Colt, and she grinned. With an expert toss, the paper sailed through the air and smacked the boy in the side of the face, landing on the ground with the smallest noise.

RainRipple01/30/2021
Though startled at the sudden impact of the paper, the boy grimaced but finished the sentence he was writing prior bending down to pick up the ball of paper, shooting a glare at her as he did so. He'd heard her scrawl something, so before reading it, he grabbed a notebook from his bag, tore out his own piece of paper, balled it up, and threw it at her. He didn't write anything on that one; it was more of a payback thing. If she was going to peg him, he would peg her back. Perhaps twice, if she'd actually written something worth responding to on the original paper. Quietly, he unfurled it, glancing up at Mr. Stone to make sure he wouldn't notice.(edited)

Dark_Spark01/30/2021
Nadia tried to duck as she saw the paper flying torwads her, but it hit the side of her head. Sticking her tounge out at him, she kicked the paper between her feet like a soccer ball. Maybe Assistant Principal Vizer was right about her. Maybe she did have the mental state of a child. Eh, who cared? Wasn't like she was concerend with her reputation here. The paper had the words, "You're a nerd if you're reading this, Teacher's Pet." She snickered, earning a glare from Mr. Stone, and immieadiently scrambled back to sitting up, acting if she had been taking notes the entire time. She did mean what she wrote though. Nadia was a huge gossip and had dirt on lots of people, it just so happened that she wanted to annoy Colt so she worked with what she had.

RainRipple01/31/2021
He sighed, narrowing his eyes and glaring down at the worksheet. The boy waited until Mr. Stone had turned around once more before throwing the original ball of paper at Nadia, too. Teacher's pet? he growled incredulously in his head. How immature. It still got to him, though, and that just made it even sillier. Anyway, weren't they all technically teacher's pets, at least in perspective to normal students? Colt knew his old friends from public school certainly believed that of him; they didn't know where or with whom he went to school, or why he refused to tell him, but they assumed he went to some posh boarding place. Not even watching to see if the projectile made contact, he turned back to his writing, jotting down the new formula the man was going over.

Dark_Spark01/31/2021
Nadia rolled her eyes, ducking so that the paper wouldn't hit her. Unfourtantley, this time, Mr. Stone heard the noise and whipped around just as Nadia ducked. "What is going on?" he barked. Nadia pointed at Colt. "Sir, someboooody was throwing paper at me." Mr. Stone glared at Colt. "Colt, is this true? I wouldn't think that you of all people would be doing something so immature." Behind her notebook, Nadia grinned. This was too good. Mr. Stone crossed his arms. "Well, boy? Is Nadia telling the truth?"(edited)

RainRipple01/31/2021
Colt glanced up and shrugged. "From a certain perspective, yes. She threw first. Logically, it would be unjust to allow her to escape retribution." Use big words, check. Act normal, check. Make it seem like what you did was reasonable, check. Eye contact, check. Oh, despite his well to-do behavior in class, the 18 year old had experienced his fair share of getting in trouble, and therefore knew the ropes. Of course, the variable he couldn't predict was the teachers themselves, and his "It was a logical response" charade didn't always work. We'll see, he thought as he stared calmly at Mr. Stone.

Dark_Spark01/31/2021
Mr. Stone narrowed his eyes and met Colt's stare. "I see your point. But I can't have you disrupting my class as well." He turned back to the board, saying loudly, "Detention for you as well." Nadia snickered.
Timeskip to Detention As all of the students were leaving, Nadia swung her feet up onto the desk. A younger teacher by the name of Mr. Shoal was in charge of detention, and he gestured for Colt to take a seat as well. "You'll be in here for an hour, no?" Nadia nodded. "That's all for today, teach." Mr. Shoal, who was less chrocety than Mr. Stone, gave her an amused look. "I don't doubt that you'll be in here later this week Nadia" She simply rolled her eyes and pulled out a book, pretending to read it.

RainRipple01/31/2021
Colt had sighed and nodded, then focused back on his paper once more. As he'd walked into detention, he nodded briefly to Mr. Shoal before sliding into his seat. He pulled out his Calculus homework; just looking at the problems made his head hurt. However, he was determined to do his best, even if the result was the liqification of his thinking organ; the lungs. Wait a minute... Still staring down at the paper, he smirked in response to his own brain.

Dark_Spark01/31/2021
The hour seemed to pass by forever. Things seem to do that when you're waiting. But eventually, Mr. Shoal cleared his throat and spoke, breaking the silence that was chipped away by the quiet ticking of the clock. "Alright, you're free to go." Nadia muttered, "Yes!" And immieadiently jumped up, stuffing the book into a knapsack that she constantly carried, though it was most likley not filled with textbooks and probablly just spare parts from whatever she had decided to tinker with. She headed out the door, but paused right outside. She did feel just a smidge bad about landing Colt in detention with her, after all, (since it would take a miracle for Nadia to say anything in a way that wasn't short and simple,) she had started it. Tapping her foot impatiently , she called, "Hey, Book boy, I wanna talk to ya."

RainRipple01/31/2021
Letting out a deep breath of relief, he stood and began to pack his stuff. He'd finished half the worksheet, and his head felt like a blob of spoiled chocolate left in the Florida sun for hours. Colt followed Nadia out, kneeling momentarily to tighten his right shoelace. "What's up?" he asked cooly before standing. He shifted his weight and strode to meet her, his gaze slightly wary, but also poised.

Dark_Spark01/31/2021
Nadia scuffed the ground with her boot, not meeting eye contact. "I'm.." she paused. "I'm sorry for getting you in detention. I did throw the first paper, I should have been the only one in there." She tightened the straps of her knapsack. "I, uh, hope you're not mad." If he was, Nadia was fully prepared to bolt. She had run from a lot of angry people in her day, it had made her preety fast.

RainRipple01/31/2021
Though a bit vexed at this sudden change in demeanor from her, he shrugged and waved a hand, as if to brush off her concern. "It's no big deal." With a laugh, he added, "It's a whole other feat entirely if you succeed in making me truly ma- I should not have said that. III should not have said that." The second the words had left his mouth, he'd realized that some might take it as a challenge. He hoped Nadia wouldn't fall into that category, because otherwise, he might be better off living in a nuclear bunker for the rest of his life.

Dark_Spark01/31/2021
"Oh, I uh, sorry?" Nadia wasn't really sure how to respond to that. What would happen if he really got mad? Nadia, being the curious person she was, was tempted to try and make him mad, just so she could see what would happen. Then again, she didn't really have any one to back her up if he did get dangerous. Nadia wasn't exactly very popular with her antics. "I'm glad you're not mad though." She tilted her head. "So, uh, what got you to this dump?"

RainRipple01/31/2021
"Supposedly, deciding the pink and green chemicals would look cool if they were mixed qualifies as being a "genius,"" he grinned, recalling the absolute panic that had resulted that day. He'd always been the top of his Chemistry class, the formulas just making sense to him. Once, when the students had been experimenting with various chemicals, he, out of boredom, had asked if they were allowed to create an explosion. The teacher had laughed, saying that there wasn't any way that the given chemicals could do that, but he was welcome to try. And try he had. Needless to say, the boy had succeeded, catching the eye of this school's administrators with his stellar Chemistry marks that hitherto had gone under the radar.(edited)

Dark_Spark01/31/2021
Nadia had to laugh at that. "Wow, that's an...interesting way to get in. Most people solved a math theory or something. Me?" She dug into her knapsack and pulled out what looked like a large tablet. "I'm a tinker." Wiggiling her fingers, she tapped the screen a few times. "I've almost gotten suspended for it, but I managed to make a little crack in the firewall protecting the school from any outside influences. I also got here because I ordered pizza to the White House, no joke." She stored the tablet back. "But it's refreshing to see someone who isn't spending all their time with their nose in a book."

RainRipple01/31/2021
His eyes widened with amusement and amazement as he nearly choked on his own laughter. Coughing, he composed himself before answering, "Okay, yeah, I concede the victory." However, as an afterthought, he added, "What brand? Dominoes is the only one worthwhile. I'll be thouroughly less impressed if you picked something like Papa John's..."

Dark_Spark01/31/2021
Nadia grinned. "Neither. Little Ceaser's, personal favorite of mine. Turns out the president agrees with me, I'm preety sure I saw a sauce stain during his last newstcast." She gave him a long look. "You're not that bad for a guy who exploded a table. I honestly thought you were a giant buzzkill, but you're not that-" She was cut off by the crackle of the loudspeakers. "Attention all students, please report to the auditorioum for an emergency broadcast with the principal." The loudspeakers were suddenly silent as the sound of hundreds of students moving across campus echoed like a stampede. Nadia glanced back at Colt. "Emergency, huh? Guess something's up. I could take a look and figure out now if ya wan, then we could skip this whole schabang."

RainRipple01/31/2021
"Hm, acceptable, I suppose. I guess I'll take that as a compliment? Yeah, can't say I wouldn't like to avoid being crammed into the auditorium for any longer than necessary," he responded, adjusting the book bag slung over his shoulder. It seemed to be a common misconception that, due to his fastidious work ethic, he wasn't willing to take risks, get in trouble. Far from it; while Colt did quite prefer NOT having detention, it didn't really faze him. "How would you got about this?"

Dark_Spark01/31/2021
Nadia pulled out her phone from her back pocket. "Rememeber how I said that I managed to create a crack in the firewall?" She began typing furiously, fingers flying. "Well, I can exploit that crack to get into the school's system. That way, I can look at any emails or articles that could tell me why there's a weird transmission." About 5 minutes later, her concentrated expression became rather concerned. "Esto no es bueno, this is not good at all."

RainRipple01/31/2021
The dirty-blond narrowed his eyes, a sinking feeling creeping in. "What is it?" he asked, his just-joking tone switching to a cool, serious one. It was as if a switch had been flipped; the cavalier, lighthearted boy of the previous moment quickly faded away, and now he was business-like and straightforwards. He himself wasn't quite sure why, but Nadia's reaction, alongside his own instincts, worried him.

Dark_Spark02/01/2021
Nadia didn't look up from her phone, and was about to respond when suddenly, from the open doors of the auditorium, the disguised voice of the Principal spoke. "Good afternoon students of Morshton Academy. I trust you're doing well. You all had no idea about the school when you entered. You assumed it was a school simply made to host the genuises of the world. However, I'm afraid that this term will be a bit different." There was a pause, and he spoke again. "I've decided we're going to play a little game. I've picked one of you to arm with weapons and information that can sucessfully terminate all of you, though one at a time. They, are the Killer. It's up to you, before the week's end, to find out who they are. But watch out, you might become one of their victims first. Before you think of simply escaping, I've locked down the entire island. There will be no escaping during the game. No Wi-Fi, even for the teachers. Goodluck, and let the game begian."

RainRipple02/01/2021
Colt stumbled backwards, shocked. That pit of dread in his stomach? Yeah, that had been nothing compared to this. "This ia a joke, right?" he whispered under his breath, already running through scenarios in his head. Truth be told, he actually was the kind of person to spend their time with his nose in a book; he loved reading, particularly dystopian fiction, and it seemed like, all of a sudden, many of those books he'd perused in his free time were coming to life, and he had ended up in the middle of it. Trust no one, but make alliances, he recalled. Never relax your guard. One thing was for sure in his mind. Turning to Nadia, he grimaced, "Well, looks like we'll be skipping quite a few classes, no?"(edited)

Dark_Spark02/01/2021
Nadia bit her lip. "I guess so...This is defiently bad." She kept typing, but stopped after a bit. "El gran chico wasn't kidding. He's frozen evreything, emails, messaging, any form of communication. It's all down." Nadia shook her head. "We're not getting out of here until the game is done." There was the sound of panicked shouting from inside, and students were starting to hurry out, the fear immieadient on their faces. They were followed by sevreal teachers who were just as panicked as the students. However, as they started gathering in the courtyard, one teacher tried to calm evreyone down. Mrs. Luswire, a tall middle-aged teacher who was known as one of the nicer administrators, stood in front of the crowd. "Evreyone, calm down. I know that this is an emergency, but panicked shouting won't help. We need to find a way off the island. " Mrs. Luswire began trying to keep evreyone's rather unstable emotions, and it apeared that she was succsessful. Nadia watched the commotion silently. But inside, the girl was panicking off the charts. When she was younger, she could always go to the Internet for a safe haven where she could just block the bullies, where only words could hurt her. Without that, she didn't know what to do. Without tech, she was useless. "What do we do now?" she muttered, trying to keep the fear from her face.

RainRipple02/01/2021
A shiver ran down his spine, cold and skeletal. However, he knew enough to allow logic to take over, to banish his fear. Granted, he'd never been in such a dire situation before, but logic had worked in his favor in the past, had it not? Steadying his voice, he responded calmly to Nadia's question, "Well, two options. Either we stick with the group," here he gestured to the teachers and students, "or we go off on our own and try to find a place to hide for a week. There's safety in numbers, yes, but the larger a shoal of fish is, the more can be eaten by a predator in a single gulp. But if we go off on our own, either separately or together, we're essentially making it so that we'll be attacked for certain if found. Do we leave the school and hide somewhere on the island? Or do we stay inside? How do we feed ourselves? Can we arm ourselves in response?" Colt realized he'd gone off on a tangent. So many questions, so much uncertainty.

Dark_Spark02/01/2021
Nadia was silent for a minute before responding. "I..I think we should stay in the school. We may be closer to the killer, but we're in familiar territory here. We have a better chance of surviving in a place that we know." She looked at the crowd, Mrs. Luswire camly telling the students that they would go on as normal for now. "It looks like we don't have a choice, but I am scared." Mrs. Luswire finished by saying, "Classes are cancled for today, please go about your day normally, but be careful."

RainRipple02/01/2021
His mind still running on full steam, he nodded. "Yeah, that'd be safer. We should probably try to remain in medium sized groups; more than two, fewer than 10." How would the rest of the teachers respond? Would the teachers be targets, too? Would the Killer go along with it? Why was this happening? Colt was so absorbed in trying to plan for everything that could happen, every possible contingency, that he didn't quite register Nadia's final sentence until a moment or so after he himself had spoken. The boy's practical demeanor softened. "Hey, we can do it."(edited)

Dark_Spark02/01/2021
Nadia tried to grin. She was really trying to restore the confidence she normally had. "I, well, I feel like a sitting duck." She shook her head. 'it's fine though. We should try and make a larger group, make this harder for the Killer, whoever they are." Suddenly, there was a scream. Across the courtyard, there was a chunk of a terrace falling torwads a girl, frozen in terror. Teachers were running torwads her, including Mrs. Luswire, but with a crash, the rubble crashed into the ground. Nadia stood frozen in terror. "T-that was fast." All attempts at trying to restore confidence had melted away, showing the utter terror on her face.

RainRipple02/01/2021
Colt turned away from the scene, covering his mouth with his hand. He felt sickened. Steadying himself against the wall, he shut his eyes, trying to scourge the image from his mind. Had- had the girl died? In his 18 years, the only death he had seen or experienced was that of the occasional pet. His grandparents were all still alive, and he considered himself very fortunate. He was shocked, horrified. He'd been expecting guns, knives, weapons in general, and now he was completely thrown off. So the whole structure around them was dangerous? What else would be used against them?

Dark_Spark02/01/2021
Nadia nodded, gulping. The idea that there. "Right. I think we should leave. Now." She glanced around. "They wouldn't dare bring down the entire building, so I think one of the classrooms would be safe for now." Gesturing for Colt to follow, she hurried torwads one of the nearest classrooms, which already had a few other students, two younger boys and a girl. "Looks like others had the same idea as us," the girl said. "I trust that neither of you are the Killer, though who could tell?"

RainRipple02/01/2021
Shaking himself, he followed the girl, hoping her statement was true. Would they dare? He studied the students already presesnt in the room. Though Colt knew none of them, they didn't look particularly suspicious. Their faces were plastered with terror. However, it seemed like it would make sense for the principal to select a younger student, as they would be less likely to fall under questioning. But would the principal expect them to expect that and therefore select an older student instead? He hated his own brain; it made everything so overcomplicated, so confusing. He did feel like he could trust Nadia, but other than her, he couldn't know who to put faith in.(edited)

Dark_Spark02/01/2021
Nadia nodded. "All of us are suspicous, as we don't know who the principal picked, or how he contacted them." She glanced at Colt, but internally, she knew that of anyone, he was the only one she felt she could trust for now. Though anyone was suspicous. She turned back to the others. "Who are you anyways?" The girl looked up. "Salene." The two boys responded with muttered, "Alex," and "Ricard." Nadia nodded jumping on top of a desk. "I've always wanted to do that." She looked at them from atop the desk, crouching like a cat about to spring. "So it apears that the best plan would be to go after the Killer before they..." she hesitated, "takes any more lives."

RainRipple02/01/2021
Salene? he thought to himself. Like, Saline? Is she salty or something? That was a pathetic joke, he had to admit, though, and now was certainly not the time for it. Colt strode into the room, pulling the door closed behind him, locking it. Glancing out into the hall, he reached and flipped the light switch to "off," saying in a hushed, "First, we probably ought to treat this like a lockdown drill. Hide further back in the room and out of sight of the door, and all that." He didn't do anything to cover the window in the classroom door, however, not wanting to alert anyone that there were people taking shelter inside. Turning, he began to move towards the desk in the front-left corner; the door was on the right, so anyone looking in had a limited range of vision.

Dark_Spark02/01/2021
Nadia nodded. "Though, we can't stay here forever. There's got to be a way to figure out who the Killer is, without risking anyone's lives," she whispered. She jumped off of the desk, moving to a corner of the room. Salene and the twins did the same, and Salene muttered, "But how? It could be any of us, or any of the school."

RainRipple02/01/2021
Glancing back at the hallway as he knelt down behind the desk, a glimpse of a black lens on the ceiling caught his eye, sparking an idea in his mind. Half to himself, he pensively muttered, "Security cameras..." The boy's eyes lit up as he turned to Nadia. "Security cameras! Those don't run on Wi-Fi, and should still be operable, provided the power isn't cut. I'm not saying it won't be, but they're an option. Nadia, you said you're a tech person; it wouldn't be safe to go to the front office, but do you think if we could locate the wires in the walls you could hack into them?" Colt guessed the cameras would likely have been shut down along with the communications, but perhaps if they could reconnect them to the circuit board and then hack the feeds... but who was he kidding, he knew nothing about this sort of stuff. Best he could do would be to tell them which chemical would permanently blind the Killer and which would just make them smell like roadkill.

Dark_Spark02/01/2021
Nadia looked up. "Potro, you're a genius!" She stood up, avoiding the door. "That could work, granted the Killer isn't already using the cameras. It'd be a battle for control, but if I can atleast get to the motherboard..." She stood directly underneath the camera, looking up at it and muttering to herself in spanish. Salene glanced at Colt. "Is she always so weird?" Nadia, already wrapped up in her own world, did not respond.

RainRipple02/01/2021
"Oh, absolutely," he grinned. Grabbing a chair, he pulled it into the corner and sat down, leaning back against the wall. He immediately thought the better of that, and set the chair back on all fours again. Colt could easily see himself slipping and causing the chair to crash to the ground, and that was the last thing he wanted. Remaining levelheaded had always been so important to him, and a sense of pride, but now his own calmness unsettled him. He felt as if he ought to be running around screaming his head off in panic, but a sense of coolness had fallen over him, and all he could think about was how best to get out of this, as if it were simply a book or a video game. But it wasn't, and he knew it. This was real.

Dark_Spark02/01/2021
Nadia grabbed one of the many chairs lying around the room, and climbed up to carefully remove a panel from the camera. "This is gonna take me awhile, so unless you want to stay here, I suggest going back to your rooms. We can't just sit here, at least have some sense of normalcy." Nadia wasn't the tallest in the world, so she struggled to stay upright while fiddiling with the camera. "They really know their stuff here, this thing is súper compleja."

RainRipple02/01/2021
Colt contemplated this, then shrugged. "I think it's safer to travel in at least pairs, so I'll stay with you." Gesturing to the younger students, he added, "You three can do as you wish. If you chose to leave, know that if anything happens to Nadia, you can assume the Killer is me, and if anything happens to me, you can assume it's her. Let us know now if you intend to stay together or to separate; that way, if anything happens to one of you and we have been assured you three stayed together, we'll know it was one of you, but if you separate, we'll know not to falsley accuse you on that basis."

Dark_Spark02/01/2021
Salene and the twins nodded, quickly and quietly leaving the room. As they did, Salene called over her shoulder, "I'll take them back, they're my brothers." Nadia was silent, focused on the camera. After awhile, she spoke. "Colt? What would you do if you were the Killer?" She didn't take her eyes off of the device, still moving peices around.

RainRipple02/01/2021
He sat in thought for a moment before responding, "Under natural circumstances, I'd refuse. Likely not blatantly, but I wouldn't kill anyone. I'd probably act like I'd go along with it, but then tell the other students immediately that it was me, giving them the chance to escape. However, winning likely entails killing the Killer to escape, or so I'd assume from the typical attitude of such situations, and therefore I'd refrain from exposing my identity and flee into the woods, again not killing anyone." Pausing, his bit his lip thoughtfully. "But chances are the Killer had been offered something or threatened with something. I wouldn't give into the former, but if someone close to me was threatened, whether with death or with torture, I wouldn't know what to do." Colt shrugged again. "I know that assuring you I'm not probably doesn't stand for much, but let me do so anyway; I'm not." As per usual when he was contemplating a serious subject, his wording had slipped into that "proper" sense. That happened when he was lost in thought.(edited)

Dark_Spark02/01/2021
Nadia paused for a minute, before continuing. "I've always been taught that you can't trust anyone's intentions. That evreyone has an altierier motive. Myself, I'd probablly just get them out. If it's a choice between me, and innocent lives, I know which one I'd pick, It's not like there's anyone around me to torture." She stopped. "Alrignht, got the motherboard! I should be able to rewire it so that I'm able to see on the projector." Her voice had turned falsey cheerful.

RainRipple02/01/2021
He forced a smile. Though thrilled at her accomplishment, it really was difficult to react joyfully. "Awesome! That's great! Good job!" Colt stood up, careful not to make any noise. "Can I help in any way?" he asked gently. Though he knew little about technology, he was still eager to aide her efforts.

"Right, if you could just turn on the projector, I can move the footage there." Nadia kept fiddiling with it as she spoke. "One step closer to getting out of here."
Timeskip to the next day Things were much more tense today than usual. During the night, a boy had been found dead in his bed. His roomates had been questioned, but anyone could have broken in. Nadia was still in the classroom, watching the cams on the projector.

RainRipple02/01/2021
Colt sat on the edge of the teacher's desk, head in his hands, stomach aching, both from hunger and horror. How much longer could they last? On one hand, the kitchens would quickly become empty due to the amount of people in need of food, and it therefore would be logical to attempt to get there before that occured. On the other, it was the second day, and if he were the Killer, he would know of the students' hunger, and the kitchen would be a good place for traps. Yes, overnight the thought of traps had crept into the boy's head, and now he was even more paranoid. Of course the Killer would set traps; it made perfect sense, and to deny it would be foolish. While the cameras gave he and Nadia an edge, there weren't cameras everywhere, and one wrong step in those unmonitored areas may prove fatal. However, the longer they waited, the more traps could be set...

Dark_Spark02/01/2021
Nadia flicked through the camera feeds, bags clear under her eyes. She hadn't slept all night, and it was rather clear. How could she, when there was a killer on the loose? She had to do this. Evreything seemed normal, but something caught her eye. "Colt," she muttered, "could you come here for a minute?"

RainRipple02/01/2021
Immediately, he stood and walked over to her, wincing at the creak from the desk as his weight vanished from it. "What's up?" he asked quietly, glancing for the upteenth time towards the door. Standing behind and to the left of his companion, he ran his hand through his hair and leaned forwards to see the projection, narrowing his eyes and furrowing his brow.(edited)

Dark_Spark02/01/2021
Nadia tapped something on the camera, and it zoomed in on one of the rooms. "Is it normal for people to leave open vents?" She pointed to an open vent that peeked out from behind a bookshelf in one of the rooms. "That's the science lab. But keep in mind, not evreyone has classes there. So that means that it had to be someone who had been in that class, since that's not exactly out in the open. The Killer has the perfect way to move around the school without being detected by the cams, and has acsess to restricted rooms. But who would notice it?" She said slowly.

RainRipple02/01/2021
His eyes widening, Colt quickly turned, beginning to scan the walls, floor, and ceiling of the classroom they had taken refuge in. Peeking behind the teacher's desk, he responded, "It doesn't have to have been someone in that class. They could have opened it from the inside. So the Killer is one of two areas, provided this was a recent development; either in the vicinity of the science lab or in the vents." As he stealthily rolled a faux-wood cabinet on wheels away from the wall to reveal a metal grate, he groaned, and added, "For the sake of the security of this hideout, I hope it's the former."

Dark_Spark02/01/2021
Nadia whipped her head around. "Bueno eso no es bueno, I should have noticed this was the same room." She turned back to the cams. "Well, we better see if any of the other vents are open." She immeadiently began moving through the feeds, stopping again. "Yo nunca lo hubiera pensado, that's Salene!" Sure enough, Salene was slipping into one of the vents, eyes darting around as she did.

RainRipple02/01/2021
"Oh, you've got to be kidding me," Colt muttered. His blue-green eyes darkened as he watched the feed. The younger girl had seemed so unsuspicious. She did fit the bill with his earlier musings, however; younger, check, family members, check. This meant that she knew of their plan to use the security cameras, knew where they were hiding. He glanced at the vent in the room again, terrified. Though he wanted to believe the best of Salene, as he could see that someone trying to avoid the Killer may also use the vents to get around, he knew better than to take a chance. "Nadia, do you think should we leave this room? Try to find somewhere restricted where she wouldn't think to look? Or stay and hope she assumes we've moved on?" he asked, taking a deep breath.

Dark_Spark02/01/2021
Nadia hesitated. "We could, but she knows we're most likely going to be in here. Classes were cancled, and she could tell that we were going to stay there." Nadia lowered her voice, standing up slowly. "We have to stop her before she hurts anyone else. Plus, I doubt we're going to let the Principal know we found The Killer by shouting on the rooftops." She glanced torwads the door. "We need to lure her somewhere where she can't get out."

RainRipple02/01/2021
He nodded slowly. "Alright, I agree. We should probably fix up the camera, just so she can't access it herself. Wherever we trap her, we probably ought to keep watch, either to gather clear evidence that she is the Killer or, if she isn't, to protect her from them. What about the music room? I can guarantee there's no vent in there; it's always stiffling hot." Colt's thinking was that if one of them could lead Salene into the music while the other trailed behind, they could entice her into attempting to kill the first and frame the second. They could shove tubas, cabinets, and other heavy items in front of the door, which opened outwards, and hopefully manage it all without letting on that they were the ones perpetrating it.

Dark_Spark02/01/2021
"Done and done." Nadia bent over the camera for a minute, and the images winked off of the screen, turning it dark. "Music room seems like the best idea. She straightened back up. "But how exactly are we going to get her in there?" She waked to the door, leaning against it casually. "She's going to be on high alert."
February 2, 2021

RainRipple02/02/2021
Frowning thoughtfully, he pushed the cabinet back against the wall and ran through various plans in his head. One flickered into the forefront of his mind that seemed to hold some merit, and therefore he said, "Perhaps we get set up somewhere new first, where we can access the cameras. Once we've done that, we could try to watch for when she and those two boys are together and approach them then. Mention something in passing about the band room, make it seem like we're trying deliberately to not let on that it's where we're staying, even though it isn't? After that, we could pretend to split up, one of us going to the band room, the other following close behind. The one who goes first could appear to go inside the room but in reality hide in a cabinet in the chorus room right next door?"

Dark_Spark02/02/2021
Nadia shruged. "It's the best plan we've got, so I suppose we should stick with it." She openeed the door. "Salene seems preety protective of her brothers, which means they'll most likley be in the same place." She tilted her head, considering. "We could find one of the many janitor's closets. They don't have acsess to the vents, but there is one I've noticed while skipping class that has a camera across the hall from it. It'll take a lot more work, but I can acsess it from far away as long as I stay near the closet. It's actually a preety commonly used hallway, since there's sevreal classrooms. Though it'll be up to you to get them to go, since I'll have to be keeping track of her. If La asesina is Salene, we need to make sure she doesn't harm anyone else. I can join you though, so it doesn't look suspcious."

RainRipple02/02/2021
He nodded, following her out. "Lead the way." Glancing back at the camera and recalling the exposed wires, he added, "Maybe we could run some cables from the camera to the closet? We could nab a computer from the computer lab, if you would be able to hook it up to the feed. It would involve a bit of monkeying around in the ceiling and walls, but could potentially work. In the woodworking room in the art department, they have scrap wooden boards, hammers, nails, and so on that we could use to punch a hole in the ceiling of the closet and build a ladder up to it. If I recall correctly, school ceilings tend to be oddly hollow." He knew this due to his participation in said woodworking; Colt had always enjoyed art-related activites more than those pertaining to physical activity.

Dark_Spark02/02/2021
"If you wanna do it, be my guest. Small spaces...well, they aren't really my thing." Truth be told, Nadia was claustrophobic, and even the idea of being in the ceiling made her palms sweat, her grip on the camera loosening slightly. "We're going to have to do this without detection though, we may have a killer on the loose, but Stone would kill both of us if he found out about this." A dark thought entered Nadia's mind, maybe it would be Salene who got to them first, but she tried to push it out of her mind. If there was one thing that Nadia knew, it was that no matter what, she was making it off this cursed island alive. "I can set the camera up now and nab that computer if you don't mind doing the heavy lifting. Salene's in my math class, I think, and Mrs. Luswire is pretty determined to keep things going smoothly and normally." She hefted the camera. "Though I doubt she's going to notice that I'm gone, I'm not exactly the type to volunteer answers." Nadia knew that they needed to move quickly. They didn't know when Salene would strike next.

RainRipple02/02/2021
"Yeah, no worries, I'd be happy to," he responded, slightly confused at the girl's reaction. He'd always seen her as relatively a unflappable, confidently rebellious student. This new view of her perplexed him, but then again, if this wasn't an extenuating circumstance, he didn't know what was. Pursing his lips, he contemplated the best way to go about setting this whole thing up. While it would be faster and more efficient if they split up to grab the supplies, there was great danger to doing to. "As much as I understand wanting to continue as normal, it just doesn't seem, well, practical. Do you think we ought to stick together?" he broached.(edited)

Dark_Spark02/02/2021
Nadia shrugged, not really meeting his eye. Subcounciously, she knew how suspicious this made her look, but she couldn't help it. It was humiliating that she was acting like this. Nadia had always been the confident one, the rebellious scamp, as her teachers had called her. But why did she care? "If you say so. Doesn't really make a difference, as long as we meet the end goal of getting Salene trapped and the camera in the janitor's closet." She grabbed the camera and placed it on her shoulder like a cameraman would. "Well? What first?"

RainRipple02/02/2021
Pressing his tongue to the left side of his cheek, the boy thought for a moment before shrugging and saying, "I'd say we grab the computer first. They'll be hot commodities. Bring it back, making sure we aren't followed, then head over to the art department, and although both are a bit of a walk, it ought to be worth it."

Dark_Spark02/02/2021
She nodded. "We'd better get on with it, then." She started walking down the hall, her boots making a thunking noise on the finely made tile floor. . Nadia moved quickly and purposefully, her face an unusually emotionless mask. It sort of unsettled the few students who shared the same sentiments that trying to do things as normal that were wandering the halls, and she was able to quickly make it to the computer room. With the lack of signal caused by the Principal freezing evreything, the computers were virtually useless. But if someone wanted to, per say, hook them up to a camera, they were free for the taking.

RainRipple02/02/2021
Colt followed a bit further behind her, his eyes scanning those students that they passed. If they were wrong about Salene, it could be any one of them, though if he were the Killer he would want to remain in classes so that others could vouch for his location, if it came down to it. As much as he didn't want it to be the younger girl, he knew it would be for the best if they were correct and their plan worked. It did slightly amuse him to wonder what the other students thought; he knew that, to the outward eye, he and Nadia working together was not what they would expect to see. As he entered the computer lab behind her, his eyes flickered around the room, noticing a metal vent near the ceiling. "Let's hurry," he said, his voice unintentionally quiet.

Dark_Spark02/02/2021
Nadia's eyes also landed on the vent, and she nodded curtly before randomly picking one of the computers. Pulling herself underneath the table, her breath caught for a minute as she realized how low the table really was. But seeing that she wasn't closed in calmed her down, and the girl immieadiently turned her attention to the mess of cords. "This..might be awhile." Already, her nimble fingers were attempting to untangle the wires, but it was slow work. Her foot tapped impatiently, and she finally managed to locate the cord that attached the laptop to the wall. "Yes!" she whisper-cheered, before slowly pulling it out and unplugging the cord. Tucking the laptop under her arm, she stepped out from underneath the table. "Alright, let's vamoosh."

RainRipple02/02/2021
"Awesome, alright," he grinned, scanning the room again for anything they may require. A thought sprung into his mind, and, motioning for her to follow, darted into the server room right next door. It was small, and nothing complicated, simply existing for teaching purposes, but contained a supply cabinet, if he recalled correctly from that time he'd accidently caused one of the servers to burst into flames due to accidentally adding twenty-some extra zeroes to the end of all of the components of an already-large file and then had to repair the damage. Opening the metal door, he grabbed some cabels and wiring-related tools for his intended ceiling project.

Dark_Spark02/02/2021
She followed after Colt, curious to see what he had planned. The server room hadn't been part of their scheme, so Nadia wasn't sure why he was going in there. But when she saw what he was grabbing, she grinned. "That'll get the job done. Now c'mon, this room won't be empty forever."

RainRipple02/03/2021
Snatching up a couple more items from the cabinet before closing it, Colt was beginning to feel slightly more optimistic. They could get everything set up today, work on procurring food tomorrow, and hopefully out Salene as the Killer without much trouble. "Back to the closet now, then?" he asked, snatching a bin from the teacher's desk that was full of more wires and some circuit boards, dropping his rolls of cables and various tools into it, and heaving the load into his arms.(edited)

Dark_Spark02/03/2021
Opening the door to the server room, Nadia stepped out of the way. "Back to the closet." She waited for him to leave the room before closing the door and leading the way out of the main computer room. She then started walking quickly torwads the closet that she had recalled, ocasionally slowing down a bit to adjust her hold on the laptop. When she finally found the right door, Nadia paused, and opened it. Her face dropped a little. "That's a lot smaller than I remember.." She shook her head. It wasn't that small. She was fine. If they were going to get all of these innocent people out of here, Salene had to be caught. And to do that, Nadia would have to ignore the feeling of the walls pressing down on her, wipe that pale terrified look off, and get to work. She moved one of the foldable chairs off of the wall, starting to set up. "You should probablly start setting up, I have a few things to take care of on the computer before the cams can be intercepted."

RainRipple02/03/2021
"Once I get ahold of a hammer, I can probably knock out the rest of the drywall, making the walls a bit deeper," he offered upon her statement regarding the size of the room. "For now, I'll just have to do this section to the right and hope I don't make too much noise. The cabels we'll need to get at are inside the walls." Letting out the breath he hadn't realized he was holding, he drove his right shoe through the base of the right wall of the closet. With a grim smile, he knelt down and began to pull the siding away, tossing it behind him into the hall. There was a bit of white dust, but it went well.

Dark_Spark02/03/2021
"Well woulda look at that, this school is a lot trashier at construction than I thought." Nadia coughed on the dust floating through the air, before pulling the chair into a corner and sitting down, opening up the laptop. She immieadiently began typing away, humming under her breath. "Well, once you get those wires hooked up, in a minute we'll have acsess to everey single offline camera in the school." She didn't look up, but said, "and we'll be able to get out of here alive," rather quietly.

RainRipple02/03/2021
"In order to do that, I'll either need to build a ladder or stack some chairs on top of each other. One's safer, one's faster. Guessing time is of the essence, so would you be willing to hold on to the chairs?" he said, glancing upwards. 5'11'', while not really "short", wasn't the most optimal height for vaulting into the ceiling.

Dark_Spark02/03/2021
"Whatever gets us out of here," Nadia said. With a final click on the keyboard, she stood up, leaving the laptop balanced carefully on the seat. "Though I'd suggest the chairs. The last time I saw the janitor use that ladder, he nearly broke open his head. Seriously though, for a school full of genisues you'd think they'd have better saftey standards." She pulled one of the chairs off of the wall, considering it for a minute. "Lemme see...We'll need like 4 of these. You want to give me a hand with this? " She ufolded the chair she had taken off of the wall, brushing off her hands. "Just unfold the chairs and hand em to me, kay?"

"You gotcha!" he grinned, snatching up one and doing so. Sudden amusement entered his mind as he imagined what it would look like were someone to come around the corner to find busted drywall in the hallway, him balancing atop four chairs, Nadia holding those chairs, and the large box of cabels on the ground. He struggled momentarily to unfold the cheap chair, but got it in the end, handing it to her and grabbing another.

Taking the chair, Nadia ran her tounge over her teeth as she concentrated on stacking the chairs. Once she had gotten the final chair in place, she carefully placed her hands on one of the chairs, keeping the slightly wobbly chair tower steady. "Alright then, let's go, your tower is ready." Blowing a hair out of her eyes, she laughed, "Now get up there before I lose my grip, these chairs aren't gonna stay together with the school's track record of construction and equipment managing.

With a chuckle, Colt nodded and stepped forwards, paused, took a deep breath, and vaulted up onto the plastic tower, planting his hands on the topmost chair and jumping. It took serious concentration to refrain from kicking his legs as he scrambled to the top. The chairs wobbled concerningly beneath him, but they didn't fall. Not wasting a moment, the boy pushed up on the ceiling panel directly above him. It gave way easily, and presently he was no longer standing on the chairs but sitting in a very odd position on one of the metal supports. Glancing around, he nodded once more to himself before calling back down, "Could you pass up those cables?"

"Puedes apostar," Nadia grinned. "Just give a minute." With one hand, she tried to keep the chairs steady, and reached out with her hand. Barely grabbing the cables with her fingertips, she pulled them torwads her, tossing them up. "There ya go!"

He snagged them on the tip of his shoe, kicking them upwards into arm’s reach. “Thanks,” he grinned, turning and pulling a small compact flashlight from his pocket. His parents had always been so paranoid about him getting caught in a power outage that they taught him to always carry one. Looks like that was paying off, for once. A bit of despair crept in. What if he never made it out alive, never saw his family again? Well, all the more reason to get a move on, he supposed. Turning the device on, he scanned the hollow roof with a thoughtful frown. His eyes lighting on a long black strip some 7 feet away, approximately where the camera would be. Putting the flashlight in his teeth and draping the cables over the back of his neck, he got down on his hands and knees. Tentatively, he began to crawl forwards over the delicate ceiling, knowing that one misplacement of his weight would send his crashing down. When he reached the black line of cable, he set to work, rerouting the feed back towards the closet.

"Gracias, Colt, you're the best," she called. Taking the cord as gently as possible, she fed it to the chair in the corner, attaching it to the laptop. She immieadiently began setting it up, and, pressing the final button, called, "Alright, it's all set up now. Time to keep an eye on our killer then."

"Awesome!" he called from the ceiling. Jokingly, the boy added, "Could you move the chairs? Or I could just live up here now, y'know, your friend in the ceiling." He didn't trust the chairs to support him were he to clamber down them, and the distance to the ground wasn't too far. So long as he landed carefully, the most damage he would do was create a bit more noise.

"Maybe you're less annoying in the ceiling," Nadia joked. Moving the laptop onto the chair, she got up. Moving to the door, she checked to see if anyone was in the hallways, before giving a swift kick to the pile of chairs, letting it topple to the ground with a crash. Brushing her hands off, she moved one of them out of the way. "Kay."

"That's one way to do it," he laughed. Taking one last look around the ceiling area, he swung his legs over the edge, steeled himself, and hopped down, bending his knees as he hit the floor with a loud noise between a bang and a slap. Straightening, he put out his hand for a high-five, grinning and a bit proud of the whole thing.

He gave her a tight smile. "Or so we hope." Truth be told, he knew better than to trust someone who would put this many innocent people in such a situation. Colt had read enough books, heard enough stories, seen enough movies, to believe in the principal's benevolence. Having a backup plan or two at least couldn't hurt, he thought, and therefore his mind, as always, was spinning away.

"Of course," he nodded. Frankly, separating, at this point, seemed like a very poor idea. It had only been a day since the principal had made the announcement, but already the idea of having to deal with any more death, especially that of Nadia, was painful to him. Attempting to amuse her, and himself, he supposed, he added, "The last thing we need is to lose our tech person."

He smirked. "Yeah, sure, and flounder around on my own knowing that the second I touch a computer it'll burst into flames or something."
Nodding, Colt turned and walked out into the hallway, looking both ways to make sure no one would see where they had come from. Glancing down at the pile of drywall he had left, the boy frowned, then began to move it back into the closet. It would only be temporary, but they didn't have time at the moment to stow it anywhere else.

"You are dumb enough to do that," Nadia teased. "Now c'mon chico, let's go." She checked the halls as well, before heading out. "Salene's brothers looked like freshmen, so I think she's about our age. Which means.." She pulled out her phone, tapping something on the screen. "She should be in History at the moment. "First of all, hey," he laughed. "Second, understood. The history room's about a three minute walk, yeah? We're in the left academic wing, it's at the end of the right." He stepped back to let Nadia take the lead, seeing as how she appeared to have a much better idea of what was going on than he.
