There is a plant seed on its back right from the day this Pokémon is born.The seed slowly grows larger.While it’s young it uses the nutrients that are stored on the seed on its back in order to grow.

When the bulb on its back grows large, it appears to lose the ability to stand on its hind legs. Exposure to sunlight adds to its strength. Sunlight also makes the bud on its back grow larger.
