Dylan thought, if he’d die, he’d do it by old age, he pointed his knife high upwards, so if the Thing tried to bite him, they would be stabbed.

They smiled, and unraveled their tentacles to reveal their real forme, and grabbed each leg with a tentacle “hey” they smiled, tightening slowly

She grabbed another hefty rock and threw it at the Thing’s head.
Dylan used that one second to stab the Thing and ran, he tried to be stealthy, but managed to run east, while his sister ran west.

Mary literally said something so loud, so vulgar as when she screamed a rather confusing phrase, “Corgi a*s!” Probably to confuse, but she quickly ran off, “run Dylan!”
