does anyone know how to actually level up? I just level up, but I don't know how it happens

Your trainer level increases by gaining trainerpoints, which can be attained with these activities:
- Adopting a new Pokemon
- Hatching an Egg
- Interacting
- Event Distributions
- Game Center
- Trading
- Dream World Shop
