I don't really understand how it happened myself... It all just
happened, in a sudden moment. I remember I was sitting in my own
home, happy and content, and then, I heard a voice saying, “Yes,
this one will do nicely.” Then, I remember darkness and waking up
in one singular room. I was tied to a chair, and there was someone
in the shadows in front of me. I could not make out their face and
my vision was blurry nonetheless. I blinked my eyes a few times.
“What the heck do you want? I don't have any money if that's what
you're looking for.” The person turned and I could see their face
more clearly. She appeared to be a middle-aged woman wearing a long
white lab coat with blonde hair and green eyes. If she lost the lab
coat, she probably would have been pretty cute sans the dark bags
under her eyes and the way she kept twitching her lip. “Don't
worry, I'm not here to make money, I'm here to test out a little
experiment of mine.” She turned back to what she was doing in the
darker part of the room, and when she turned around she was holding
a small doll. She walked up to me and grasped a bit of my hair.
“What are you doing?” I yelled. “It will be much easier if you hold
still,” she scolded. She took the hair and pulled hard, and a lock
of hair came out of my head. “Ouch, that hurt!” I complained. “Of
course it did you stupid, stupid boy.” She then proceeded to sew
the lock of hair to the doll's head. She put the doll into her
pocket, and went back into the shadows. When she returned, she was
reeling out a squeaky medical cart. It was covered in lots of
instruments, which I did not like the look of. “What kind of psycho
are you?!” I screamed. “No screaming, No screaming.” she laughed.
“We wouldn't want you to hurt your pretty little voice. It's not
like anyone can hear you down here.” She picked up the first
instrument, which was a needle and a syringe filled with a strange
clear liquid. “What is that?” I demanded. “There's no reason for
you to ask questions,” she said. “It's my job simply to test the
experiment, and you are asked to remain the most obedient subject.”
“What are you talking about? I’m gonna call the cops if you-” I
stopped speaking as she plunged the syringe into my neck, then
pinched me. I screamed in pain. She nodded as if this was the
required result. “Yes..yes, this is good.” She picked up the doll
and pulled out a long, thin needle. “First experiment. Rate your
pain on a scale of one to ten.” She stuck it in the doll, and I
felt an immense amount of pain in my hand, as if a dog was ripping
it apart. I yelled, tears in the corners of my eyes. “Well? 1 to
10?” “8, you-” “Alright.” She put the needle down and took a pocket
knife, tearing lines into the doll’s face. I felt skin ripping and
blood dripping down my own. “1-10?” “9..” “Affirmed.” The witch
continued torturing me, all with a twitchy smile. My entire body
was in pain, mauled and ruined. The doll had fared no better. She
held up the tattered doll. “One last test.” “What..you..sicko?” I
gasped. She plunged the knife she had been holding into the doll's
chest, and I felt a piercing pain. “Test confirmed.” was the last
thing I heard her say. I remember waking up, confused. I was
obviously dead, but this was not what I was expecting to happen. I
could see that I was in a yard, and it was late at night. The woman
was sitting in the blood stained grass, humming to herself as she
sewed together a grotesque life sized doll that looked like a man.
Parts of it were human, and (it made me sick when I realized it)
hacked off from my corpse. The rest was made of a sort of
sackcloth. That’s when I got an idea. What if...I did the same
thing to her that she did to me? I could simply possess the man
sized doll. That’s what ghosts did, right? It seemed simple enough.
I could just..take over it, and take revenge. I could kill her, and
I wouldn’t be conveniently making a new body for her. She could
suffer the same unfair horrible death I did. I rushed towards the
doll, and darkness enveloped me once more. When I opened my eyes,
it was different. One did not open at all, and the other felt
heavy, like I was wearing a mask. I slowly sat up, and the woman
leaped back. “W-what is the meaning of this?” I grinned, but there
was already a skeleton’s grin to show. “I’m baaack!” I sang,
grabbing her by the neck and pinning her down in the grass.
“W-what?” I noticed a medical bag filled with the devices that she
had used to kill me. I snatched it up. “Y’know, I never liked open
mouthed dolls.” I carefully drew out another doll from the bag,
while still keeping her pinned. I placed my foot on her throat as I
also drew out the needle and thread. I sewed the dolls mouth shut,
and thread pierced the scientist’s mouth as it was sewn shut by
thread on some invisible string. Then, I proceeded to torture her
the same way she had. I didn’t outright kill her, since that would
be just like she had done to me. So, I looked her in her bloody
eyes and said in a hoarse voice from laughing, “Get help before you
bleed out, and maybe someone will help you live.” I stood up,
picked up the instruments, stuffed them into my large coat pockets,
and walked off.
“Welcome to Channel 5. Today we are going to cover a series of
murders littered around this very area. For the privacy of the
victims and their families, names have been removed except for the
unknown murderer. Bodies were found on several occasions across
town, all maured and disfigured. Some similarities include sewn
mouths, missing body parts, and long scratches in the face. The
signature weapon of the killer is unknown, as autopsies have
revealed that several different weapons have been used. We have
only one photo of the killer, and the features and build suggest a
middle aged man. We strongly advise that you do not walk alone at
night. Please report any suspicious characters to the police. In
other news, the memorial for acclaimed scientist Martha Hentrix,
who was head of a study at the local University concerning voodoo
magic, is taking place today.”
