The dragon mountain was actually just a mountain, with a rock formation that looked like a big house. He says, “Let’s read these later.” he said, seeing the title that said Preserves throughout the world. They might visit some of the preserves in the book. He looks outside. It was getting dark. He says, “Let’s go downstairs so we hear what happens about Midsummer Eve.”

Grandpa, Lena, and Dale were all downstairs. “Ok kids. I have rules. Never look out the window, and don’t listen to my voice if you hear it. I will be leaving you alone in the attic all night, so if you hear me then don’t answer.” he said. There was a big howl outside. Lena looked and her face paled. “They’re here.” she said. Grandpa gave the pair some earplugs and sent them up to the attic alone. “The house is protected, and the attic is even more protected. We’ll stay down here and keep watch.” He put some white powder that appeared to be like salt in a circle around the bed. “See you in the morning.”

meg said "ok"and put the earplugs in and goes upstairs and handed luke a pair of the big headphones that blockout sound for yard work and she put them on and fell asleep.

Luke tried to sleep, but before either of them could lay down, there were screams and yells and cackles of all sorts. “Goodnight Meg.” Luke said nervously, the earbuds in both of their ears making th sound quieter but not quiet enough to block out the whole sound.

Luke fell asleep. He was getting tired, then fatigue got to him even with the loud noises outside. He sighs, then falls to sleep.

AT MIDNIGHT
Luke wakes up with a start. He sighs when he realizes he is safe. He heard more noises. The curtains were drawn so he couldn’t see out the window. There were loud wheels on the roof of the house and some ritual drumming outside.

Luke shook Meg awake. “Do you hear anything strange?” he asked, taking off the earphones and earbuds, trying to listen to the noises, then heard cackling and laughing and craziness.

John was in the yard. Finally! He runs around, watching a chariot with an appiration and some hobgoblins and other dark and light creatures.

Luke sighs. He sits back in his bed. Now he couldn’t sleep. He shakes Meg again. “Meg, wake up.” he said, then shook her, trying to get her to wake up.

Luke sighs, then tickles Meg. This normally worked for everyone, waking them up almost instantaneously. He waits for a reaction.

“Do you hear that voice in your head, like it’s trying to get you to come to the window?” he asked, resisting looking because he didn’t want to. “Dale said that he wished he could’ve turned back time to where he didn’t look out.”

Oliver squawks a bit, jeering the voices and runs around. The noises stop, then slow, loud creaking is heard from the roof of the attic.

At the window, there’s some crying. It sounded like a baby, then thee were some snarls. It sounded like a little toddler was being hunted by some wild creatures.

Oliver squawks a little, then cuddles with Meg. Goldilocks the chicken also seems a bit scared. Luke wakes up. “Did you hear that?” he asked.
