Chapter 1 - Charmander

Oak: Are you a boy or a girl?
Me: Umm, professor, you should know my gender by now.
Oak: A girl!
Me: Whatever. I’m a boy.
Oak: Moving on, what is your name?
Me (Barrett): Oak, you have known me for a decade! You should know my name! It’s Barrett.
Oak: Barrett, that’s an odd name for a girl. What is your rival’s name?
Me: Come on professor! It’s 3 in the morning, and you are at the side of my bed. Just name him JoJo and get out of here. Expect me to come in six hours.
Oak leaves, and I sleep in my bed, until my alarm clock rings. I get up and do what a normal person would do every morning, then I went to Oak’s lab. I couldn’t find him, so I asked around the lab.
Aide 1: I don’t know.
Aide 2: He’s not here?
JoJo: Go find out yourself.
Some girl named Green: I saw him in the tall grass when I walked here.
Taking Green’s word, I run over to the tall grass to find the professor, only to see that the hairstyle was just a wild Spearow.
Oak: Hey! Don’t go in there!
I turn around, and see Oak sending out his Pikachu. Pikachu uses Thundershock and Oak throws a Pokeball at Spearow and catches it.
Oak: Barrett, what the heck are you doing, roaming around the grass? You’re supposed to be at the lab.
Me: Well, you weren’t at the lab, and Green said you were here?
Oak: Green lied. Now let’s get you back to the lab.
So, Oak brings be back to the lab as JoJo and Green laugh at me.
Oak: Now, pick your Pokemon.
Just as I was about to nab Squirtle, JoJo snatches it before I could take it. Meh. Bulbasaur can help me through the first 2 gyms. Then Green takes right when I had a finger on it. Great. Now I’m stuck with a Charmander. Like that will help me. I take Charmander’s ball and let out Charmander.
JoJo: Green, I challenge you!
Green sends out Bulbasaur and commands it to use Tackle. Squirtle dodges it and uses Tackle as well. It looks like a Critical Hit, because Bulbasaur is almost down. Squirtle uses one last Tackle and Bulbasaur faints.
JoJo: Barrett, you’re next!
I gulp as JoJo sends out his weakened Squirtle to go against my Charmander. I noticed right away that Charmander is at a major disadvantage, but apparently, Charmander is at a higher level than Squirtle, so maybe I’ll win. I command Charmander to use Ember, since Charmander is at that level. Squirtle gets hit, and uses Tail Whip. Charmander uses Scratch, and Squirtle faints. JoJo gives me some money as I celebrate with Charmander.
Oak: Before you guys leave, here are your PokeDexes, and JoJo, can you get me that parcel from Viridian City?
JoJo: Ugh. Fine.
JoJo runs out of the lab as soon as Oak was gonna give us our Pokeballs for catching. Since JoJo left, Oak gave me seven balls and gave Green eight. Then I run out of the lab myself, to Viridian City.
