"No way. You haven't? I love jeans." Maeve said, shocked. "I live maybe 15 minutes away but I have a car. Do you... want to drive to the clothes store? My house is on the way, and honestly, you'll get a lot of stares when you're wearing that to like, Gap or Old Navy. You can borrow something if you want. I... shop in Men's clothes a lot. They're comfy." Maeve said, turning slightly red as she rummaged around for her car keys.

"I'd rather not attract more attention than I've already gotten now..." Al admitted, declining the offer to go shopping. "I wouldn't mind going later though in case I don't fit in your clothes... You're a bit-- petite compared to me." he noted with unintended rudeness in his voice. "Now-- I'm assuming with all of these new inventions that... cars are different now too, right?"

"Got it. My car's over here." Maeve smiled, jogging up the steps that went up a small hill, walking towards an old green Toyota that needed a paint job desperately. "Mine's a bit old, from '07, but she works." Maeve said, opening the passenger door before climbing into the driver's seat. "And I do buy clothes big for stuff I wear around the house. It should work."

Al followed Maeve silently though became awestruck once he saw her car and the others surrounding it. He huffed when the girl opened the door for him and climbed in the driver’s seat herself though got in the car shortly after. After a moment of silence following her statement, he turned to her and said, “You know... I guess— back in my day it was common courtesy for the man to always open the door for the woman.” with a small frown due to the fact that he’d been very big on being a gentleman and simply polite in general.

Maeve started the car, pulling out of her parking space. "I appreciate the thought, but we've sort of lsot things like that, now. Even just holding the door open, regardless of gender, is fine. Women and Men are sort of, uh, on the same level, but there's still unfairness." Maeve explained.

Al sighed at Maeve's response. "Maeve... I've woken up seventy years in the future with no recollection of this, no idea why I haven't aged, everything's been ripped out from under me and my whole world as I've known it no longer exists. Could you just let me keep this one thing the same as how I remember, please?" he pleaded, his voice knotting as he attempted to hold in emotions. For the rest of the car ride, Al was silent and watched out the window as the car was driven, not really taking notes of the surroundings anymore.

"Hey, dude, I didn't mean to offend you." Maeve started, then took the note to be quiet, pulling into the parking lot of her apartment building without a word. She opened the doors before walking into the building, silent.

Al quietly huffed at Maeve's apology though remained silent for the rest of the car ride.
He silently followed the girl into her apartment building, taking smaller steps as the atmosphere and setting had changed for him.
"Which one is yours?" he asked after making his way in the building a bit further.

“4C.” Maeve said, opening the elevator and stepping in when the automatic doors opened. “Sorry, again. I’m used to how it is now, I guess. Although I wouldn’t mind you telling me about the past.” She said, sticking her foot in the door so it wouldn’t close.
