Feel free to comment on this. I'd like
some opinions on how long Lion should be with Tiger in the
story
The smell of smoke was heavy while the citizens of Ecruteak screamed and ran for cover. Lugia was using hydro pump to put the flames out, and Ho-Oh had fled the area after the fight was lost. "Wait that maniac was your dad!? What are you going to turn out like him?" Dal said crossly to Tiger. She was a girl that had joined him in his journey at Goldenrod, she was joined by another trainer, her brother, named Ben.
"I-it's not what you think! Frost might be my dad, but I'm noth-" Tiger began to defend himself when Ben cut him off.
"You're nothing but a magnet for danger! Ho-Oh is after you because you have the Silver Wing!" Ben snapped angrily.
Tiger flinched "I know I have the Silver Wing, it's because Lugia trusts me. He helped stop the fight! You can't just say that I'm going to turn out like him!" He said quietly and took a step back.
"Frost wants you dead and so does Ho-Oh. How do we know this won't happen on a daily basis?" Dal said lowly and narrowed her eyes. Tiger looked at the ground unsure of how to respond. "See you can't even persuade us into believing you. For all we know you're a spy for Rocket." She said lowly. "Come on, Ben let's go" she growled lowly and walked away from the burning city.
Tiger watched helplessly as the two people, he had thought of as his friends, abandoned him. Humans are nothing but liars and traitors! He thought to himself crossly and went to help repair and clean up the damage done. He walked to the burnt tower when a citizen of Ecruteak growled.
"You have the Silver Wing? How do we know you won't betray us too?" He said dryly. Tiger froze and looked up he still had his Silver Wing in his hand.
"Does it look like Lugia is trying to hurt anyone" Tiger retorted dryly. He nodded to the silver legend, who was pushing part of a wall back up into place.
The citizen growled and threw a rock at Tiger. Tiger growled as the stone his his shoulder where he had been hit by an extrasensory. "Get out of here you traitor!" The citizen yelled in fear.
Tiger frowned looking frightened, he took a few steps back. More and more citizens joined into the yelling and began to throw more stones at the trainer. Cyndaquil growled angrily and went to use a Flamethrower when Tiger shook his head. The two then ran out of the city and into route 39.
~•~•~
"Traitor!? Why would they call us that!?" Cyndaquil asked crossly and followed Tiger through the route. The boy had climbed into a tree and was running along the branches with his head down. The boy slipped and crashed into a clearing he gasped in pain and snarled.
"Because of idiots like Frost and Snow! First Lion turns his back on me, then Ben and Dal think I'm a spy, and now everyone in Ecruteak thinks I'm abusing the Silver Wing!" He snapped angrily and broke down.
Cyndaquil froze and went to his trainer. "Everything is alright. I'm sure we'll manage to find someone else to be friends with. Not all humans are evil" Cyndaquil said gently and comforted his trainer.
Tiger closed his eyes tight. "Why is it hard. Ever since I left home...heck even before that when I left Ripple Forest. Why does it have to be difficult for people to see past my past." He whispered angrily.
Cyndaquil frowned and nudged Tiger gently. "Hey Tiger!" A voice said in shock. Cyndaquil looked over to the voice and saw Lion. He growled cautiously.
Tiger sat up, and wiped his eyes dry. "Oh? Hey Lion" he responded dully and avoided the other trainer's glance. He noticed that Lion had taken a seat next to him.
"You look awful. Is everything alright?" Lion asked in concern which caught Tiger off guard.
"Since when do you care about me?" Tiger whispered quietly and looked at the ground to avoid Lion's glance. He was afraid that the trainer would turn on him like usual.
"Tiger you are my friend! I know I've been kind of rude lately but you saved Wartortle's life! I-I owe you for that! I'm sorry I've been awful." Lion said gently and moved around to look at Tiger.
Tiger looked up to Lion and blinked. He then remembered how close they'd been when they were both kids. "Ho-Oh attacked Ecruteak. I lost a couple 'friends' and now everyone in Ecruteak thinks that I'm going to turn out like Frost." He whispered.
Lion flinched "I-I'm sorry I told Frost about the silver wing I thought you were-"
"It's fine. You were mad because I went missing, and when I came home and told you what happened you thought my dad would be able to help" Tiger said dully and looked back to the ground.
Lion nodded but still looked guilty. "Yeah that's true...so have you thought of how you'll save Ho-Oh?" He asked.
Tiger looked up "no. Honestly I'm terrified of Ho-Oh. I don't want to fight him" he admitted and crossed his arms.
"It'd be safer to try and save him. After all he needs a guardian" Lion said gently.
Tiger groaned "not this again! I don't want to be Johto's guardian! I don't deserve it! I mean you have more experience with it since Matt was the previous guardian!" He snapped and flinched when Lion looked upset. "I'm sorry. I know it's too soon to say anything about your dad I-"
"It's fine, Tiger. I know you don't want to be Johto's guardian, and I'm sure you won't even get that title, but who else will save Ho-Oh? I mean guardian or not does Ho-Oh deserve to be in Rocket's control?" He asked quietly and got to his feet.
Tiger blinked "yeah you're right. Lugia is trying his best, but without his brother...he's struggling" he whispered in concern. He looked back to Ecruteak and frowned. "Good thing I got the badge yesterday. I don't think I want to go back there for a while" he grumbled.
Lion nodded, and put his hand on Tiger's shoulder reassuringly. "I'll travel with you for a bit. I mean I still need to try and catch up with you" he said kindly.
Tiger shook his head in amusement. "Really? This isn't another trick to make me battle right?" He asked dryly.
"No this isn't a trick. Just promise me something, Tiger" Lion asked kindly.
Tiger blinked and looked up to Lion "what?" He asked kindly and crossed his arms Cyndaquil climbed into his shoulder.
"Promise me that we will never lose each other again. That no matter what we'll always be friends!" Lion said kindly.
Tiger nodded and forced himself to smile "promise"
Title: Rough draft chapter for Journey of a Lifetime.
Tiger was standing in the middle of Fuchsia City. Cyndaquil, and his Umbreon were next to him. Both were on edge. "Keep your guard up...we have to find Snow before-" a loud screech was heard, and Tiger saw Ho-Oh. "Never mind..." Tiger said darkly, and ran off in the same group as a few fleeing citizens. He saw a girl go to Snow, but he couldn't stop her. He then darted up a tree, and summoned Lugia. "Lugia distract Ho-Oh I'll go get the rainbow wing back" Tiger said swiftly, and jumped to the ground. As Lugia flew toward Ho-Oh, Tiger saw Snow fleeing towards the route out of town. "Yuki block him off!" Tiger yelled.
"Stop! We need to have Snow go back to their base....stay focused Tiger this will be over soon" Looker said through an ear piece in Tiger's ear. Tiger growled, and nodded. Yuki then went back to Tiger reluctantly.
"Fine..." Tiger said lowly.
"Listen once in the base it could be dangerous...as a Faller you have to go in" Looker said lowly causing Tiger to growl.
"So I'm just a pawn in your stupid game!"
"Well...yes and no. You agreed to join the fight and stop Rocket"
"I agreed to take Rocket down...I never agreed to die for you" Tiger retorted darkly. He then followed Snow out of town, and toward Saffron City.
Once in Saffron, Snow ran into the game center, and into the rocket HQ. Tiger swiftly followed, and once he arrived inside the game corner. A group of pokemon had blocked the exit. Snow was standing close by holding out the rainbow wing. "Well Tiger...I have been expecting you" he said darkly, and held the rainbow wing out. Tiger growled.
"What are you" he began but was cut off as a few pokemon went in to attack. Cyndaquil, and Yuki then growled and stood next to Tiger.
"Attack!" Snow yelled crossly. The pokemon attacked, and Tiger managed to escape a few blasts. He blocked the noise of his pokemon crying out for help, and he released his other four pokemon. A Noctowl, Charizard, Ampharos, and a Mantine. He then ran to Snow.
"Give up Snow!" Tiger yelled. He managed to make it to Snow, and take the rainbow wing from the grunt's grasp. Snow then punched Tiger sending him backwards into the fighting pokemon.
"Give me back my rainbow wing!" Snow demanded. Tiger struggled up, and panted.
"Tiger! Get out of there!" Looker said sharply, Tiger heard concern in his tone.
"Why should I...I'm a Faller right" Tiger retorted darkly. He got his breath back, and looked at the pokemon. Ho-Oh has haunted me for years...I don't plan on dying, but I need to end this. I wont die he thought with a sigh, and went to call Cyndaquil to destroy the rainbow wing, but the opposing pokemon turned against him, blocking Cyndaquil from helping, and he was hit by multiple moves all at once. His pokemon cried out to help, but they were trapped by a group of pokemon. The last thing Tiger saw was the rainbow wing get destroyed in his hand. He then passed out.

Seriously sorry for double posting,
but I needed to get that last WIP chapter up...
Tiger ran along a forest, his Cyndaquil was by his side like usual. "Ha I'll beat you to the river!" The boy said cheerfully and ran through the unfamiliar forest. He had been here for a few months now unaware of how he got here, but he didn't mind it much, as the forest seemed peaceful and serine. The trees were thick and green a clean and deep river ran through the forest. Flowers grew up healthy and were straight and shining brilliantly in the sunshine.
"No you'll never beat me. Not unless you wake up!" Cyndaquil squeaked in a weak retort. "Come on Tiger you've been trapped in this state for three months please wake up!" Cyndaquil repeated and stood in Tiger's way.
"But, I am awake." Tiger said in confusion and crossed his arms he looked around the forest once more and noticed it was getting dark, and forbidding. Trees were dying and looked sick. The river that Tiger had been running to looked dry and whatever water was there was dirty, and shallow. He had a feeling of being watched by something menacing. He flinched at the sudden change of scenery. Soon he heard another voice, it was Lugia's.
"Wake up Tiger. Open your eyes." The Pokémon said in concern. "Come on you've got to open your eyes!" Lugia's voice repeated constantly.
Tiger blinked soon the forest was gone and he was falling through an endless void. He screamed but couldn't hear himself as he fell through the void.
Tiger woke in shock and panted. He looked around the hospital room that he was in. He had a few bandages covering his arms and hands. There was gauze wrapped around his head, and he looked at his chest and noticed it was stitched, his side had been burnt and he had a scratch close to his heart going across his left side. He looked at his left arm and blinked at the IV drip in his veins. The heart monitor was going crazy from the effects of the dream. Cyndaquil looked at Tiger with tears going down his cheeks. He tackled the boy in a hug. "You're alive! I thought you were never going to wake up!" Cyndaquil said in a choked up voice.
Tiger blinked and looked at Cyndaquil sadly he then hugged his friend not intending to let go. "I-I'm sorry..." He said quietly and felt a tear roll down his cheek. "This whole journey has been nothing but one mess up after another" he said quietly.
Cyndaquil frowned and jumped out of Tiger's arms. He looked at the trainer and blinked. "It's fine? Just please never do that again!"
"No promises...anyways. Um? I know I'm in a hospital, but which one exactly, and how long have I been asleep?" He asked quietly.
Cyndaquil sighed "you're in Saffron City's hospital, you've been asleep for three months. The doctors have healed you up, but you nearly died. They kept saying that they weren't sure if you'd survive or not, oh by the way, that moron, Looker, sent this." He snarled and pushed a box onto Tiger's lap.
Tiger looked at the box it was wrapped up like a gift. There was a note attached. I'm sorry for how badly that turned out. We couldn't capture Snow, but we did rescue Ho-Oh so that's a half victory. We'll help you out in anyway possible, just keep in touch. ~L Tiger frowned and opened the box. Inside was a change of clothes, a black tank top with a blue Houndoom on it, "great thanks Looker. You know I hate Houndooms" Tiger growled and continued looking through the box. There was a pair of jeans, black skate shoes, and a new blue backpack, as well as a new hat. Instead of the pure blue cap he once possessed, which was now destroyed from the attack, he saw a blue cap with a lightning bolt on the front. A small pin with an empty center was on the bill, it was the size of his keystone. "Nice for him to get me new clothes..." Tiger grumbled lowly and glanced at Cyndaquil. "When am I allowed out of here?" He asked kindly.
Cyndaquil tipped his head to the side "I think the doctor says a week after you wake up if you're stable enough. Just try and get some more rest alright?" He responded to his trainer gently.
~•~•~•~
A week passed since Tiger woke up. He was now released from the hospital, now they were nearing Viridian Forest on their way home. He wanted to take the long way after his mom, and Smokey had visited during the week, his mom had given him news that he didn't like. He closed his eyes and remembered the conversation clearly.
"We're moving to Alola. It'll be fun and you'll love it" his mom said cheerfully.
Tiger frowned "but I love Johto! I won't fit in, in Alola." He complained. Even though he was old enough to travel by himself on a dangerous journey he was still forced to go where his mom was.
"Don't argue Tiger. I mean it'll be nice to leave Johto." She said cautiously.
"Is this because every in johto thinks I'm unfit to be the holder of the Silver Wing?" He said dully.
His mom didn't respond she just looked at the ground.
Tiger sighed and closed his eyes. "Why can't people just see past what I've done, and whom I'm related to!" He said in a frustrated tone. "I can't even make friends here. What makes you think it'll be better for us to go to Alola?" He asked quietly.
"Tiger calm down. A fresh start might be best, and look at it this way. No one will know of your past so making friends will be easier. Just think it over. We're leaving in two weeks" she said quietly and left the room.
"Tiger hey snap out of it!" Cyndaquil said in a dull tone. Tiger blinked and noticed he was walking towards Mount Silver. "We're not going to the most ideal place." He said quietly.
Tiger blinked "I'm just want to see Johto one last time from the mountain top. I won't talk to Red" he promised gently and picked Cyndaquil up.
Cyndaquil blinked and looked unconvinced. "Can we at least stop by Ripple Forest first? I want to see how Lugia and Ho-Oh are settling in" he asked gently.
Tiger nodded in agreement and sighed. "Yeah it'd be nice to see the forest once more before we leave for Alola. I mean it'll take a bit to pack so I might not have the time to afterwards" he sighed. Cyndaquil nodded and the two walked into the forest. Tiger decided against running through the trees. He was still sore from the fight in Saffron. He soon arrived at the rock wall and looked up. "I spent a year of my life here, and now I'm back" he said quietly. He then went to the crack in the rocks and walked through.
Cyndaquil followed Tiger quickly and looked around the forest sadly. The trees were thick here, and spring was making the green forest even greener. Psy, an Abra, ran up to Tiger with a lum berry and threw it at the trainer with a giggle. "Come on Tiger play a game of football with me! I'm sure I'll win!" He said cheerfully.
Tiger blinked and caught the lum berry. "Sorry, Psy I can't. I'm actually leaving Johto soon and this might be the last time I see you" he said sadly.
Psy frowned "Cynda! Tell me he's lying please!" Psy begged Cyndaquil.
Cyndaquil sighed and shook his head. "Unfortunately he's not. Do you know where-." He began but cut himself off when there was a strange presence in the air.
"Is someone else here?" Tiger asked Psy curiously and looked around the familiar clearing. He didn't see anything at first, he turned back to Psy.
"Huh? Oh. Yeah Lugia told Suicune and Entei to come visit today." The Abra said cheerfully and smiled. "He was excited about something, but I'm not sure what it was." He sighed.
Tiger frowned and looked at Cyndaquil. "If it's important then Cyndaquil and I can find time to come back later." He said with a sigh.
Psy looked confused "but Lugia used future sight to see when you'd come by again. He invited them for you" he squeaked cheerfully. Tiger and Cyndaquil looked even more confused.
"Why would Lugia invite them to see us?" He said questioningly and crossed his arms. Cyndaquil looked to the bushes when a flash of blue and a flash of red came from the thick greenery. Tiger blinked and visibly flinched when Suicune walked into the clearing and stood by Psy.
"So? This is our new guardian? He looks like a reckless child." She said coldly.
Tiger blinked "guardian? N-no I'm not a guardian. I'm a trainer. I don't deserve that title" he said sheepishly.
Entei appeared, walking out of the bush he had been hiding in, and looked as if he were measuring up the trainer. He walked around Tiger and stood next to him. "Hm you say you don't deserve the title, yet you rescued Ho-Oh? I say that's a good enough reason for the title. Now follow us" he said evenly.
Tiger frowned and exchanged a glance with Cyndaquil. "I-I don't want this to happen" he whispered to his friend. "I mean I'm only thirteen! I'm reckless, and I almost died in that last battle. I don't deserve this." He said quietly.
"There's no way out of this. Maybe you can decline the position?" Cyndaquil suggested uneasily.
Tiger nodded "hopefully. I mean Johto deserves a better guardian than someone who's leaving" he said quietly.
Cyndaquil sighed in response and climbed onto Tiger's shoulder. The two were then lead to the cave that Tiger and Cyndaquil had stayed in when they were younger. "Good you made it" Lugia said kindly and greeted Tiger gently.
Tiger looked at Lugia, he flinched when he saw Ho-Oh glaring at him. Though Celebi was nowhere to be seen. "Shouldn't Celebi be here for this?" Tiger said trying to get out of this.
"He couldn't make it, something about a girl on three island?" Lugia said gently.
Ho-Oh growled and shook his head "Raikou should be here too, but you don't see him do you oh wise guardian?" He said to Tiger mockingly.
Tiger flinched, and Lugia hit the golden legend in the head. "Ho-Oh I decided on the guardian." He said lowly and in a warning tone.
"This scrawny kid is too young and reckless for this job" Ho-Oh grumbled lowly.
Tiger blinked "as much as I'm terrified of Ho-Oh I'm going to have to agree with him. Lugia! I can't be there next guardian! I'm not fit for the job"
Lugia shook his head "nonsense, Tiger, you've earned the title many times over! You saved Ecruteak from danger, you showed selflessness when it came to those children in the lighthouse, you protected countless Pokemon as of they were your own, and in the end you rescued Ho-Oh. No one is more deserving of the title of guardian than you are, Tiger."
Tiger frowned "but I don't want to be guardian! I'm leaving Johto soon and I nearly died while saving Ho-Oh" he repeated.
Suicune grumbled in agreement and muttered something under her breath. "We're not all in agreement Lugia, just because you raise this boy doesn't mean you can make him guardian" Ho-Oh said dryly.
Tiger blinked and noticed the annoyance and regret in Lugia's eyes. He grabbed the silver wing and concentrated on it for a moment to hear what Lugia was thinking. Johto needs a guardian, and Lion isn't fit for the job. Tiger on the other hand? He's shown nothing but courage and strength even in his darkest hour. Why can't he see that he deserves this? The legend thought sadly.
Tiger frowned and opened his eyes once more he looked at the legends of Johto and blinked. "Guardian or not, does Ho-Oh deserve to be in Rocket's control?" Lion's words replayed in his mind. He then sighed heavily "Lugia's right. Johto needs a guardian and even if you didn't offer me this position, then I'd still fight to the death for my home. I'll be Johto's guardian" he said evenly and looked at Lugia.
Lugia nodded in satisfaction. "Thank you Tiger." He whispered gently.
Ho-Oh sighed in defeat and looked at Entei and Suicune. "By the power of water" Suicune began the ceremony.
"The power of fire!"
"The powers of electric and thunder storms" Lugia spoke for both him and Raikou.
"And the power to grant eternal happiness, and life. We bestow upon you the ribbon for a guardian. Tiger, I'm sure you will be a fit guardian of Johto" Ho-Oh said evenly and a ribbon appeared in Tiger's hands. It was silver on the left, green on the top, and gold on the right. In the center were blue, yellow, and red with a water drop on the blue fabric, a flame on the red fabric, and a lightning bolt on the yellow fabric. Tiger ran his hand over the yellow fabric and frowned. I'll find you one day... he thought with a sigh and looked up to Ho-Oh.
"Thank you I'll prove to be a worthy guardian" Tiger said in an unsure tone. He was then pinned to a tree by Ho-Oh's wing.
"Remember 'guardian' if you say anything about this, while Raikou is still missing, to anyone? I'll give you another sacred fire scar to worry about" he snarled angrily. Tiger froze in shock and closed his eyes. Entei and Suicune then pulled Ho-Oh back. While Lugia stood by Tiger.
"Don't worry about Ho-Oh, he'll warm up to you one day. Just be glad he isn't Giratina, now that's a legend you should be afraid of." He said joking gently he noticed Tiger's uneasy look and frowned. "I'm sure you'll be great. Stay safe Tiger, I'm sure we'll see you again, and you will return to Johto one day" Lugia said reassuringly dismissing Tiger.
Easy for you to say. Tiger thought to himself but decided against saying anything. He picked Cyndaquil up once more and walked out of Ripple Forest one last time. He headed for Mount Silver without the intent on battling Red.
Title: Random Story ideas
(Possible Early[ish] Chapter:)
Tiger ran after Max with Cyndaquil following him quickly. “What in the name of Arceus is he doing?” Tiger said quietly as he followed his son. The argument from the night before was still fresh in his mind. His emerald eyes looked tired and worried as he followed the boy out of the small city on three island and towards the doc.
“Maybe he’s going for a walk?” Cyndaquil suggested quietly causing Tiger to shake his head in response. The city soon changed as Max vered off the path of the doc and made his way along bond bridge. Tiger held his breath hoping to Arceus that Max wouldn’t end up running into a wild pokemon as the young boy ran through the tall grass. “You really need to talk to him after we catch up to him. Wild pokemon battles without pokemon can be dangerous.” Cyndaquil said lowly. Tiger remembered that for some odd reason, Max had stopped bringing Suko, his Cyndaquil, with him.
“Don’t you think I know that?” Tiger said with a sigh knowing how a wild pokemon can go if you didn’t have a pokemon of your own, Tiger placed a hand on a scar along his cheek with a frown. He continued to follow Max, and soon, Tiger found himself being struck and whipped by tree branches and leaves. A tree struck Tiger’s left eye making his vision blur and an old injury flare up, a few years back, a psychotic trainer weilding a sword had damaged his left eye, causing him to need glasses when he read or when he strained his eyes during his work. Tiger groaned as Max had run into Berry Forest. Mira’s going to kill me if a wild pokemon hurts him...or I’d beat myself up for it before she could even begin to think about that. Either way is possible.
“Max wait up!” Tiger called out hoping Max would hear. Max only looked over his shoulder, his eyes grew wide and frightened when he spotted his father, and he ran faster.
“Okay! He’s definitely up to something.” Cyndaquil said in a suspicious manner as it was a strange sight to see Max run frightened from Tiger.
Tiger slowed down and stopped in the middle of a clearing, his son had gotten away. “I-is he afraid of me?” Tiger said in shock, the thought of his son being afraid of him upset him. Tiger was reminded of how he was afraid of his biological father, Alexander. His father had joined Team Rocket when Tiger was only a few months old. Alexander had been renamed Frost after a battle gone wrong. All of Alexander’s memories were wiped when Rocket brainwashed him, and only Frost remained. Being the Rocket Grunt that Snow had killed.
Tiger closed his eyes and hung his head. Did I do something to scare Max? I should talk to him, but… The thought came to Tiger and he shook his head in an attempt to clear it. “Cyndaquil? Can you go home? Tell Mira that Max and I will be a bit late for dinner.” He said quietly. He tried to sound like nothing had happened, but his voice faltered.
“Tiger? Are you okay?” Cyndaquil asked in concern as he noticed a hurt tone in Tiger’s gruff voice. He looked as if he weren’t going to leave Tiger until he was certain that Tiger was okay.
“Huh? Y-yeah I’m fine. Just go back home, I’ll meet up with you later. Okay bud?” Tiger said in a forced gentle tone. Cyndaquil looked unconvinced but nodded before running off in the direction that they had come. Tiger sighed and watched as Cyndaquil went back to Bond Bridge and Three Island. Tiger then turned around and headed in the direction Max went in. He sighed, gathered himself, and grabbed his glasses from his coat pocket before putting them to help his blurred vision. Tiger shook his head clear once his vision cleared up, and jumped into a tree as to follow Max silently.
As Tiger ran along branches and jumped from one limb to another, he remembered the day he was visiting Lion and Faye with Max. Deirdre and Max had decided to climb a tree, and Tiger had to get them down. Afterwards, Tiger tried to teach Max to climb, but Max was afraid of heights so he struggled with the lessons. Tiger didn’t want to give up on teaching Max how to climb. Not when Max showed some interest in it. Tiger shook the memory away and soon managed to catch up to Max. The eight year old boy was now in a clearing nearing the farthest point of the forest, where a young girl had gotten kidnapped by a Hypno, Tiger grabbed Yuki’s pokeball in a precautious manner. Just in case the same thing was really happening to Max.
“Okay! I’m here!” Max called out not knowing Tiger was in the trees above him. “I want to join you guys so I can get stronger, I have information that will help you!”
Who in the name of Zapdos is Max talking to? Tiger thought to himself and slowly moved along the branch, he noticed that Max was holding a flashdrive in his hand, and not just any flashdrive, one that had gone missing from his lab a few days ago. The flashdrive had some important information on light evolution and pokemon who lost their ability to evolve. It was research Tiger didn’t want anyone to have. Just as Tiger was about to call to Max and demand to know what his son was doing, the bushes rustled and Tiger crouched down on the branch more. He held his breath hoping that he wouldn’t be noticed.
Soon, a trainer walked out of the bushes and greeted Max. He was wearing a white Team Rocket uniform. He had teal hair and a pale complexion, the trainer narrowed his eyes at Max as he went over to Tiger's son. Tiger’s heart sank to his stomach as he recognized this man, he was Archer, once a grunt when Snow was still in training, and now the leader of the Team Rocket after Giovanni disappeared. The rumors were true, Archer had brought Team Rocket back, and Max was giving Archer valuable information just because he wanted to get stronger.
“Is this the information we asked for?” Archer said in an even tone and looked at Max with a quizzing glare. Tiger was digging his nails into the branch now as to keep himself from launching himself out of the tree and intervening. He knew better to step in, as from the tree he was in, an ambush had been planned in case Max hadn’t shown. Rocket grunts were hiding behind the trees and bushes out of sight from Max but visible to Tiger. They would have attacked the town in search of Max and the flashdrive if Max hadn't shown, and Tiger wished that were the case as it would have made confronting his son easier.
“Yes, it’s all the notes my dad and mom had done for light evolution and pokemon like Cyndaquil. It’ll show you everything, now give me my Cyndaquil back so I can grow stronger.” Max said in a tone that Tiger recognized. It was the one Tiger gave off when he was doing something stupid and reckless.
I’m going to have to apologize to the others about that tone… Tiger thought with a sigh and held his breath when Max and Archer had overheard the sigh. Why didn’t Max tell me that Suko had been stolen? Mira and I would’ve tried to help him! Doesn’t he trust me? Tiger frowned and continued to listen as Archer handed Suko’s pokeball back to Max.
“Very well, keep gathering information from your dad and we’ll help you grow stronger. Who knows maybe one day you’ll be a strong member of our team.” Archer laughed lowly and sneered. Tiger froze as Max nodded gleefully and took the pokeball.
“I will! Thanks, Mr. Archer!” Max said gleefully and ran off back towards Three Island. Tiger watched as Max walked off, and Archer looked up towards the treetops when Max was completely gone. Tiger and Archer’s eyes met and Tiger knew he had been spotted but Tiger knew Archer didn't recognize him in the shadows.
“Oh hello there. Sorry you had to see that.” Archer said in a low and cold tone. “I would ask if you want to help us too, but Tiger can't know about this. No one in Johto or Kanto can. So I'm sorry but I need to get rid of all the witnesses.” He said in a low tone and snapped his fingers.
Tiger’s eyes grew wide in fear as he noticed the grunts in the trees called their Pokemon out. Tiger ran back the way he came, but stayed in the trees to try and hide from being seen. He managed to dodge a few attacks the Pokemon dealt, but a wing attack made him lose his balance, he fell out of the tree and landed on the ground. His glasses cracked, but he wasn't paying attention, he just continued to run. I need to talk to Max, but if Rocket sees me they might hurt him since I know what happened...Arceus help me.
Tiger ran along a path deeper into the forest and fell into a bramble thicket, losing the rocket pokemon and damaging his glasses even worse and himself as the brambles scratched up his arms, legs, and face. His coat and shirt were torn from the sharp thorns of bramble. “Arceus Christ!” Tiger said in a hurt and saddened tone. The Pokemon ran past him as he stayed hidden in the thorns. He stayed in the thicket until the sun had completely set, and the stars were beginning to shine through the trees. Tiger sighed and put his destroyed glasses into his pocket once more before getting up and rubbing his eyes in hopes of clearing his vision until he got home. Where did I go wrong? Am I an awful father?
Possible Prologue
Light filtered through the room of the nursery as Aiden stood next to Tiger’s crib. His younger brother was only a couple of months old, however Tiger’s blue eyes were always filled with a sort of wonder for anything and everything. Aiden watched aimlessly as the mobile above Tiger’s crib moved in a circle. The Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur charms seemed to dance and sway as the mobile moved.
Smokey laughed in amusement as Tiger giggled and smiled at the Charmander that had swayed in the wind. All of a sudden, Aiden heard a voice from downstairs.
“Alex! You’re back! Matt said you disappeared when Rocket ambushed you both!” The voice was his mother’s. Aiden glanced at Tiger for a moment and placed the small Cyndaquil plush into Tiger’s crib before heading for the door.
“Quil will keep you company, Ty, just wait here.”Aiden whispered as he ran into the kitchen to greet his father, Alexander. While Aiden wasn’t old enough to have a clear memory, he did remember how his father acted before disappearing. He was a caring and strong trainer with a sort of reckless behavior. However Alexander always would put aside time to be with both him and Tiger. It didn’t matter what he was originally doing. Aiden missed his father deeply when he had gone missing. Though, something seemed off about Alexander now.
“Where’s that baby?” Alexander demanded in a cold tone, Aiden froze and slowly made his way towards the room Tiger was in. “I need him.”
“Why do you need Tiger?” Aiden’s mother, Samantha, asked in a suspicious tone. Aiden then looked up when he heard someone knock at the door. Abandoning the conversation and Tiger, Aiden went to answer it.
“Uncle Matt!” Aiden said gleefully to his father’s best friend. Matt and Alexander had been best friends since before Aiden had been born. His mom and dad had told Aiden stories of the young Johto Guardian and his adventures with Alexander and Samantha. Now, Matt had settled down with Lucy. They now had two children, Lion who was their youngest at a year old, and only a few months older than Tiger, and Arie who was Aiden’s age.
“Hey Aiden. Is your father in? I’ve got to talk to him.” Matt asked quietly. Aiden nodded and took a step back to let Matt in. Soon, Matt walked over to Alexander and began to talk. The previous argument between Alexander and Samantha was forgotten, and Alexander followed Matt outside. Aiden noticed that Alexander was holding something in his hand. It shined in the light, but Aiden couldn’t make it out. Soon Matt and Alexander left the house, Samantha walked into Tiger’s room as Tiger cried and Aiden ran out of the house to follow Alexander and Matt.
Aiden followed Alexander and Matt to a hill that overlooked New Bark Town. Aiden smiled as he had really loved this hill, the view of New Bark was beautiful and Aiden knew when he was a trainer, he wanted to finish his journey by standing on the hill and looking at his hometown. Soon, Alexander caught his attention.
“Alex, I want to congratulate you on your new son. I’m sure Tiger will…” Matt was cut off when Alexander narrowed his eyes at Matt. “What’s wrong?” Matt asked quietly.
“Alexander isn’t my name anymore.” Alexander growled lowly. “And neither is Alex.”
“Oh really? Does that mean my name isn’t Matt?” Matt joked dully, there was something in Alexander’s eyes that scared and frightened Aiden.
“I’m Frost now. A Team Rocket grunt who wishes nothing but the fall of Johto.” Alexander said in a cold tone. Matt froze and slowly reached for a pokeball. “I am going to kill you, here and now Matt.”
“Alex...I know you’re in there somewhere. S-snap out of this.” Matt said lowly and took a step back.
“I told you before! That’s not my name.” Alex, no, Frost snapped and took a step towards Matt. Aiden shivered in fear and closed his eyes as Frost called a Houndoom out. The pokemon had never been on Alexander’s team before. As Alexander owned a Typhlosion, Raichu, Dragonite, Blastoise, Pidgeot, and an Alakazam. Now, the only pokemon Aiden saw were Houndoom, Blastoise, and Raichu. Where did the other pokemon go?
“Frost, please don’t.” Matt said in a quiet tone, Aiden cautiously looked at Matt as Houndoom had subdued the older trainer. He was pinning Matt down and the Houndoom snarled. “Please, I want to see Arie and Lion grow up!”
Frost looked at Matt in a cold manner and narrowed his eyes. “Sorry, friend. But Alexander is gone...there is no room for a guardian for Johto when you are gone.” Frost whispered in a cold tone and Aiden couldn’t watch anymore. He ran off and headed back home just as Matt let out a bone chilling scream. Aiden ran back into New Bark but was stopped by a group of Rocket grunts.
“Kill the kid in Frost’s house! Ho-Oh hinted that baby may be Johto’s next guardian!” A grunt called out. Aiden pushed past the grunt that tried to subdue him, he grabbed a discarded pokeball that had been dropped in the fight, a Totodile came out and used a water gun helping Aiden push past and rush into his house. Just as Aiden made it to Tiger’s room, he saw that Raikou was standing at the foot of Tiger’s crib trying to fight. The legendary beast spotted Aiden and sighed in relief before collapsing from his wounds. Aiden knew. The pokemon followed the same fate as Matt.
The scene soon began to shift and change, Aiden was sitting just outside the lab with Tiger and Lion chatting next to him. Aiden had a distant look in his eyes as he looked at the hill just at the edge of the town. Arie glanced at Aiden and frowned. “Are you okay?” Arie asked in concern.
Aiden blinked and shook his head clear, “huh? Uh yeah I think so…” Aiden said quietly and shook the memories of the fight three years ago. Aiden was now seven, and Tiger was three. His younger brother had grown out of the baby blue eyes all babies have until their first year, and now his emerald eyes glowed in curiosity and a cheerful manner. Aiden frowned as Tiger seemed to look and act a lot like Frost back when Frost was still Alexander.
He even looks like Frost! Aiden thought angrily as he looked at Tiger. His younger brother had the same brown hair as Frost did, though, Tiger had a strange black discoloration in random parts of his hair, the coloration had been the reason behind his name as Tiger’s hair reminded both Samantha and Alexander of the ancient animal of the tiger. Aiden sighed and noticed that Tiger’s build and the way he acted as like looking at a younger version of Frost. What if he betrays us as well…
“Aiden. You can’t hate Tiger just because he looks like Alexander.” Arie whispered as if she could read Aiden’s thoughts. Aiden sighed and was about to reply when Professor Oak and Professor Elm walked outside.
“Hello you guys, as you know. We have some new pokemon for you to see. I’ve brought Oak to teach us about the pokemon Kanto has.” Elm said kindly as he greeted the small group of children. On weekends, Elm had a small class for the children of New Bark. It was created to help the future trainers know about pokemon and typings.
“Can anyone tell me what pokemon this is?” Oak asked and called a Charmander out. Tiger squeaked in excitement while Lion tipped his head to the side and looked curious.
“Oh! I know!” Tiger called out and raised his hand his emerald eyes gleamed in excitement. Elm chuckled in amusement while Aiden rolled his eyes.
“It’s a Charmander, a fire type starter pokemon from Kanto. The other two pokemon you can choose are Bulbasaur a grass type and Squirtle a water type!” Tiger said gleefully. Aiden and Arie looked at each other in shock as Tiger, a three year old, had given the correct answer to Oak’s question.
“Tiger? How do you know that?” Elm asked curiously. Oak glanced at Elm and whispered something while Elm nodded in agreement.
“Well, the picture books I read when I’m home show those three pokemon since Aiden is always busy with wanting to be alone. Charmander has a fire on his tail that shows his health!” Tiger said cheerfully and smiled. “Charmander is a pokemon I want when I get older!” Tiger cheered, Aiden shrunk back slightly when Arie gave him a look that seemed to say. “We have to talk when this class is over.”
“Tiger, what do you want to do when you grow up?” Oak asked, obviously taking interest in the young boy.
“I wanna be a great professor like Elm!” Tiger said gleefully and looked excited. Aiden shook his head while Lion gave off a reassuring and supportive cheer. Arie smiled at Tiger’s optimistic attitude.
A great professor he’d be. Just wait until he betrays you as well. Aiden grumbled to himself and looked up when the Charmander sneezed and a flamethrower hit him in the face. It wasn’t that hard, and only caused Aiden to cough and smoke to fill the air.
“Aiden, are you okay?” Elm asked in shock. Aiden nodded while Tiger and Lion laughed in amusement from the smoke and soot covering Aiden’s clothing.
“Smokey is covered in soot!” Tiger joked cheerfully. Causing Aiden to growl.
“Yeah! Smokey is a great name for you Aiden!” Lion laughed in agreement.
Smokey snarled and got up. “Shut up Tiger!” He snapped and froze when both professors, Lion, and Arie were staring at him in shock. Tiger looked upset by Aiden’s sudden outburst. “Oh who cares! Tiger won’t even be a great professor anyway! He’s not even that smart!” Aiden snapped and walked off while Tiger cried out in an attempt to get Aiden to come back.
Aiden flinched at Tiger’s hurt tone. “Smokey! Please come back! I’m sorry!” Tiger called out.
Lion and Arie exchanged a glance and Aiden overheard Arie’s gentle tone. “It’s okay, Tiger. Smokey just needs to have a moment to calm down, why don’t you come over to stay with Lion and me for tonight.” She said gently in hopes of calming the small boy down.
Tiger sighed and nodded reluctantly before glancing at Elm and Oak who were now talking to themselves quietly.
Smokey woke up in shock and blinked a few times, he looked at the stars from where he lay under the tree in Viridian Forest. It was the third time this month that he had the same two memory nightmares, one from six years ago when he was five, and another a few years back when he was seven. Smokey was now eleven, Johto’s age that they can be a trainer, he had spent his first year in Viridian Forest searching for his lost brother. He sat up and glanced at his Croconaw who was still asleep. “I’ve been to harsh on Tiger. I need to find him and bring him home.” Smokey whispered quietly as he rubbed his eyes.
Smokey was about to get up and explore the small part of the forest he was in when his pokegear rang making Smokey jump. Smokey grabbed his pokegear and answered the call. “Hey Smokey!” The voice on the other end was of Arie, Smokey’s best friend. “Any luck on Tiger yet?”
“Nothing. What if he doesn’t want to come home?” Smokey said with a sigh and frowned as he began to feel like this was his fault. “If only I had been a better brother.” He mumbled. He had felt so bad about what he had done to Tiger hat Smokey had adopted the nickname Tiger gave him when the Charmander sneezed on him. He was beginning to prefer it over his biological name.
“Smokey, I doubt he doesn’t want to come home. Just keep looking for him. Elm said there’s a strange rock border near the uncharted forest. Maybe you should try there.” Arie said gently and Smokey grunted in response.
“You might be right, Ar. I’ll check there later.” Smokey said quietly and hung up. He looked at his pokegear for a moment to look at the time. It was about eleven at night. Croconaw woke up and blinked, the pokemon had accidentally knocked a book and a hat, both belonging to Tiger, out of his bag. Smokey was too tired to clean it up.
“Come on, let’s get some sleep.” Smokey said quietly to get Croconaw to get back to sleep. His pokemon nodded and settled down once more. Smokey was about to lay down as well when he heard whispering behind him.
“Someone there?” Smokey called out to no answer. He shrugged and settled down next to Croconaw. He tried to sleep but more noises were heard around him. Suddenly he heard.
“Close to the wall...comes here?” Smokey blinked and finally had enough. He stood up and looked around the trees.
“Who’s there!” Smokey yelled loud enough for anyone nearby to hear him. He didn’t get an answer, and as Smokey was about to give up. An apple hit him in the back of the head causing him to growl. Whoever threw the apple would pay. Just as Smokey turned around, he was greeted with a giant rock wall. The sides of the stone were smooth and it seemed that it wasn’t scalable.
Smokey looked at the rock and looked up, he saw a figure that was hard to make out in the darkness at the top of the rocks. How did he get up there! Smokey thought in shock and blinked. Just as he was about to call out, the figure spoke.
“Human! You shouldn’t be here, or near the rock barrier!” The voice sounded familiar, and the tone of the voice seemed like whoever was speaking was trying to make an intimidating tone, but it seemed to fall flat.
Being shocked to recognize the voice, as well as to hear a human on the top of the rock wall. Smokey narrowed his eyes, "Fine, I will leave, but I don't promise you that I won't return. I'm looking for my brother, and if he's somewhere in the unknown forest. Then I will find a way over this wall, and no child of the forest will tell me otherwise." Smokey said in a firm tone making the boy growl and take a few more steps back.
After a few moments, Smokey got a response from the child. "you'll regret it if you do. The Pokemon here are more dangerous, and unwelcoming of unknown humans than you know. They aren't your typical trainer ready Pokemon." Smokey heard a Cyndaquil call from the other side of the wall, and before Smokey could respond to the boy, he was gone.
“That had to be Tiger. I have to get him back home.” Smokey said to himself before heading back to his campsite and planning on how he would get into the uncharted forest.
