"Who caught it!?" Bramblekit mewled excitedly as he thought about the massive bird. His eyes were wide with wonder at how a bird could get so big.
"It was a team effort to bring it down, and while it struggled I managed to do the final blow. Though it was a bit messy due to how the bird struggled" Ashpelt responded gently.
Dawnpelt smiled as Bramblekit mewled with excitement in her paws. This one will be a great warrior someday..., she thought as she gazed at her kit. She wasn't sure about Sunkit yet, she seemed timid; but she was sure her kits would both make Desertclan proud.
Sunkit latched her paws around Ashpelt's leg, " Can't you take us with you?, " she cried.
Flowerheart purred, and waved her tail gently. "Come along kits, you'll see Dawnpelt after the gathering she'll tell you all about it" she promised, and pushed part of the sparrow forward. "After all you both still need to eat" she meowed gently.
Ashpelt was about to say something when he heard Flamestar just outside the den. "All cats old enough to catch their own fresh kill join beneath the Tall Ledge for a clan meeting!"
Sunkit mewled as she was placed next to her brother, but soon was comforted by his warmth, and dozed off into a restful sleep.
Ashpelt walked out of the nursery and went for Mudpaw. The apprentice was grooming herself over for the third time, her eyes glittered in excitement as she thought of the warrior ceremony. Ashpelt purred, and nudged Mudpaw kindly. He then looked up and for a moment he thought he saw something in the shadows. He then shook the thought away as Flamestar spoke.
"Before we go to the gathering there is a ceremony I love to do." The leader began kindly, and looked at his clan below. "Ashpelt has assessed Mudpaw in her training today and her results have been acceptable" he meowed and jumped to the clearing he stood in the center, and Mudpaw went towards the leader with Ashpelt at her side. Ashpelt sat next to the apprentice for a moment. Flamestar turned to Mudpaw's mentor. "Ashpelt are you pleased with Mudpaw's training, and do you think she's ready to become a warrior?" He asked the gray warrior.
Ashpelt nodded, and dipped his head respectfully. "Mudpaw is an acceptable apprentice, and is ready to become a warrior" he meowed he the got up and went to Dawnpelt as Flamestar dismissed him.
"Very well" Flamestar mewled in approval, and stood up. "Mudpaw do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend the clan even at the cost of your life?" He meowed gently.
Mudpaw nodded, and looked at Flamestar excitement made her shake a little. "I do" she finally meowed.
"Then by the powers of StarClan I give you your warrior name. Mudpaw from this day on you will be known as Mudfeather. StarClan honors your wit, and bravery and we welcome you as a full warrior to DesertClan!" Flamestar meowed warmly.
Ashpelt raised his head to the sky, and was the first cat to chant "Mudfeather Mudfeather!"
Greenbush tilted his head to the sky as he joined in, purring as he remembered all the times he'd had to help apprentices with splinters and scratches.
Duskwind walked near the end of the patrol, trying to hide the skip in his step, as he hurried along with the others. He may had only seen Hawkpool the previous evening, but looked forward to speaking to her again, and without having to hide.
Hawkpool followed her clan to the gathering she jumped up to a tree stump, and sat waiting for DesertClan to appear. She glanced at the sky as the clear sky had one cloud in the distance.
Duskwind came at the tail end of the Desertclan patrol, his ears flicking as he looked around the gathering. His eyes brightened as he saw Hawkpool sitting on a stump and bounded over to greet her. " Hey there, " he mewed from the foot of the stump.
