Oliver smiled softly. There's a coffee shop on campus, ya
know? It has tea if you don't like coffee. We still have almost an
hour until school, so we have time to grab some. It might help you
wake up." Oliver hummed softly, smiling. He hoped Taemin took up
his offer, because he loved tea. He'd take any opritunity to get
some. He glanced at his phone, seeing it was 7:10. Yeah, they had
time.
Taemin nodded slightly. "Yeah, tea would be really nice right now."
He said softly, almost whispering. He checked his bag to see if he
has his wallet which he luckily brought. It was a simple, seems
cheap, black wallet. The button that kept the wallet closed was in
shape of a simple snowflake. It was white and had a good outlining,
all metal. He opened it to check how much money he had. It was a
simple layout. The small part on the left for cards was basically
empty, the middle part for notes was filled with a couple of 5 euro
and the small pocket on the lower middle part was filled with 1, 20
and 50 cents coins, the small part on the right had space for
picture or ID or such. The only thing that was there was a small
picture of Oliver and him while they were young, around 3 or 4
years old. They seemed to be playing around, like any other normal
young kids would but this was their first day together, as told by
his parents. Taemin is always glad that one day happened and Oliver
and him stayed together for that long.
Oliver smiled, standing and smiling. He grabbed Taemin's
hand, and lead him towards the cafe. It was only about 10 yards
away from the bench, and Oliver slipped inside of the cafe, towing
Taemin behind him. He squeezed the boy's hand softly before letting
his hand drop, looking through his backpack for his own wallet.
The wallet was pink with a small white cat on it. He opened it up,
and pulled out five dollars. "I know what I want... Do you?" He
asked, before wincing. Of course he didn't know, they'd barely been
in the place. He just went here every week, and he knew his
favorites.
He glanced around, smirking. The cafe was filled with teenagers,
separated into cliques by tables. Almost like the lunchroom. Nerds,
with computers and laptops, typing and chatting in what sounded
like ones and zeros to most. Hipsters, leaned back and chatting,
some sipping hot tea and wearing tye-dye. Jocks, tossing around a
football and laughing, telling dirty jokes. Oliver sighed. His own
kind of clique wasn't here.
Taemin quickly followed behind, closing the bag and swinging it
onto his shoulder. He held Oliver's hand back. This was normal for
him however, this way he won't get lost or/and lose Oliver. He
looked around the cafe, not being surprised how it looks, it's just
like everyday life but in a cafe. He looked at the menu when Oliver
asked if Taemin knew what to order. His eyes went to the tea
section, he preferred it more than coffee or most of the
drinks.
"I'll get the uhh.. mint tea," he smiled down at his best friend as
he said that. He didn't really know why he picked it, maybe because
it was a childhood drink or he hasn't had it in a while? One thing
for sure, his feelings were telling him to get it and he did.
Oliver smiled and nodded. He walked up to the empty
counter, seeing a tall man working as cashier. He smiled at the
man, and the man smiled back. "Hey, doll, what can I get cha?" He
asked, and Oliver smiled at him with a twitch of his nose. He
smiled back at Taemin before turning back around to the
cashier.
"Uhm, one Peach Green Tea Lemonade and one... Mint tea." He said
with a soft smile. He stared up at the man, swaying his hips
involuntarily. The music playing was upbeat, and he felt inclined
to dance a bit. "What sizes?" The cashier asked, making Oliver
blinked. "Uhm, medium Peach Green Tea Lemonade, and a..." He turned
around to look at Taemin, brow raised as if asking his size wish as
well. Hips still swaying lightly.
Taemin quietly listened to the conversation and almost panicked
when Oliver turned back to him "Medium mint tea, please," he almost
studered but didn't luckily. He seems very lucky today. He smiled
at the cashier and carrired on looking around the cafe and what's
put where. He tried to think of what kind of person would design
this place but soon gave up on the thought. He almost blocked the
music, unaware of doing so.
Oliver nodded and smiled, turning back around. The cashier
had heard Taemin himself, so Oliver didn't need to repeat the
request. "That will be 10.37 total." The cashier said, making
Oliver nod and place a five on the counter. He turned back to
Taemin, smiling softly. "Do you want me to pay for you, Tae?" He
asked lightly, a kind smile on his lips. He had recently picked up
a job at the local library, so he had enough to pay for both of
them. He still shifted to the beat, hair bouncing a bit against his
slim shoulders.
"No, it's fine. I would feel bad," Taemin opened his wallet to find
the exact price left, a five, twenty cent, ten cent, a five cent
and two one cents. He was surprised he was able to pay the exact
price, he normally always had a bit left. He closed the wallet and
put it in the back of his jean's pocket so he wouldn't have to put
it in his bag. He looked at Pliver confused what to do now. He kept
his hand in the back pocket and shifted his weight to one of his
legs.
Oliver nodded and smiled, taking the money from Tae's hands
tenderly. He turned and handed Tae's cash, while grabbing and
adding his own, to the cashier. The cashier slid it into the
register, and gave Oliver a recipt. Oliver smiled and nodded,
sliding the recipt into his purse. He grabbed Taemin's hand,
dragging the other boy away from the register and off to the side.
He stuck out his tongue randomly, blowing a controlled raspberry
with a dorky smile.
"Heyy!! What was that for?" Taemin laughs, putting on a pout after
he finished laughing. He slightly raises his voice but it's not in
an angry manner. Plus, with all the noise going on, it doesn't
sound like he raised his voice. He glanced over to the barista,
having a weird vibe about them. He quickly looks back at Oliver
with a smile and was still holding onto Olivers hand without
realising.
Oliver knew he was still holding Tae's hand, but didn't
mind. He giggled at Taemin's reaction, nose twitching. He smiled
softly, taking his free hand and scratching his neck. A shiver ran
down his spine and he huffed. "Dang it's so chilly in here." He
hummed softly, glancing at Tae. "Don't you think?" He said. Even
with a jacket, the little boy got cold easily.
"Yeah, it is a bit.." Taemin only now realised he was still holding
Oliver's hand. "Oh, um, sorry, I didn't realise- I was- sorry," he
ends with a sigh, as he blushes and moves his hand away to zip up
his hoodie. He was avoiding eye contact, clearly embarrassed. He
was still not used to it but it felt so right, holding Oliver's
hand like that. No, no he's still a friend, he thought to himself,
just a really good friend.
Oliver blinked at Tae, and his face began to flush a bright
red. "I-oh-uhm-Sorry!" he said, pulling his jacket more around him
and glancing away from his friend. He had liked holding Taemin's
hand, it was so warm and nice. But now his hand was cold, so he
shoved it in his jacket picks and swallowed hard. He glanced
around, seeing a few people glancing at them. He took in a sharp
breath, biting his tongue.
"It's ok.." Taemin quietly said and he hid his face in his hoodie.
He now had his hands in his hoodie pocket too. He looked over to
Oliver, only to see that he was looking away too. He kinda smiled,
not realising himself but he looked away once again, looking at the
floor, ceiling, other people, anything but Oliver. Though he hated
the silence and decided to break it:
"So, uh, how long does it take for the drinks to be made?" He said,
looking at the barista making drinks.
"It depends, actually. Usually, it's about five minutes.
Since there was no one before us, likely two or three minutes. So-"
Oliver had been talking, not looking at Tae. He was cut off by the
barista placing their drinks on the counter. He scampered forward,
grabbing them. He glanced up at the tall barista, blinking.
He turned back to Taemin, handing him the tea. "Here." He said
softly. "Want to get a table?" He asked, pointing at an empty two
person table. His hips swayed, and when he turned back to Taemin,
he took a sip of his drink.
"That would be nice," Taemin smiled and nodded. He took his tea but
didn't take a sip as he was worried it was too hot. He kept
switching which hand was holding the tea, it was too hot to hold
for even a minute. He shook his hand once he switched it to make it
cool down faster. He started walking to the table, putting down the
tea on the table and sitting down to the nearest chair, looking at
Oliver with a smile.
Oliver sat across from Taiemin at the table, biting his lip
as he felt how cool the chair was through his dress. He swallowed,
shifting. He leaned forward, picking up his drink and taking a sip
of it. He set it down, crossing his ankles and looking up at
Taemin. The cafe was still loud around them, though it seemed to
have quieted a bit if you paid attention.
