Digimon thoughts
Forum-Index → General Discussion → Digimon thoughtsNow another thing I believe digimon does well is the handling of its villains. In pokemon the villains are usually team rocket who can be funny and enjoyable to watch but they can get stale at times. Digimon usually separates its stories into 3 parts the beginning the middle and the end. The one that deviated from this was xros wars which was an army of digimon fighting each other which does sound awesome but the army is dispatched so easily the main bad guy's army(the main bad guy in this example is bagramon) may as well be holding up a sign please kill me written on it. The main villain bagramon is portrayed as an all powerful being who is extremely powerful however bagramon is your generic bland bad guy and he cannot carry the show by himself. In my opinion digimon can't do the all powerful being well but I do really like the human villains the example I will bring up is a man named kurata(spoilers). Kurata was part of an expedition team made to find a boy named Keenan who was a child that was mistakenly sent to the digital world. The team were having a great time exploring the vastness of the digital world however kurata saw a lynxmon which was basically going to attack him and he shot at it out of fear. This triggered other digimon in the area to start attacking them. They are basically running from a lot of digimon and kurata use a device he made(its called a space oscillation device) to transport them back to the human world. Then kurata comes to the logical conclusion that digimon are a threat to humanity and decides the best way to handle them was to gather data of dead digimon transform it into a robot digimon which he called gizumon and went on a massacre of the digimon species. This is already a cool idea and his back story actually explains why he wants digimon dead. We don't even get a back story for bagramon in the anime(at least to my knowledge). I said in the anime as in his profile it states that yggdrasil(basically god) punished him for revolting against him and he then he named himself the sage of death. This would have been a much better idea than what we got in the anime which was basically I want to take of the world(because that is totally an original concept) if your going to use a cliché at least give him a reason other than I'm a bad guy kurata for example was driven by his fear of digimon. Beelzemon was driven by his thirst for power. Oikawa(while he is an awful villain) still had the motivation to want to go to the digital world. You know something is wrong when I can defend 02 for not using that cliché.
Another thing digimon does well is that it has an established goal(most of the time). In adventure its save the digital world from the forces of evil and get back home. In 02 its defeat the digimon emperor. In tamers its rescue calumon. In frontier it is save the digital world from lucemon. In savers its find (insert person here) and rescue or defeat him. In xros wars its defeat the bagra army. In hunters(this doesn't exist). There is a clear goal for each of them(in the digital world) to accomplish which gives digimon its beginning middle and end.
It does many more things write and wrong but I think this is a good place to start what do you guys think?
Anywhoo....I used to have a couple of the digimon games for the playstation and really enjoyed them. Man how I miss those games and shows.
I agree that at least Digimon has plots that develop, get resolved then goes onto other plots whereas the Pokemon shows, as much as I love them, don't seem to go anywhere in particular.
I have to admit that I haven't been able to watch the Digimon shows because none of the cable stations I have show any of them; guess I'll have to rely on YouTube or something.
And for the app thing, search "Dracimon" in the app store in and look at the screen shots to see what I'm talking about.
And all those who are making suggestions that will make PH safer, I agree with you and thank you.
