Pokemon Lapis: Kura's Journey~
Forum-Index → Fanmades → Fanfictions → Pokemon Lapis: Kura's Journey~I'd finished packing my rucksack with everything my mother had sorted for me:
-A tent and sleeping bag, both green in color.
-Spare clothes; Shirts, vests, shorts, long pants, socks, underwear, swim suit, a coat. Even a hat, scarf and a pair of gloves.
-An umbrella.
-A towel, wash cloth, toothbrush, hairbrush, basic toiletries.
-My wallet.
-Packets of dried food, because they last longer than fresh food.
-Some Pokemon Food.
-A complete first aid kit.
At first glance, you wouldn't believe that all of that would fit into my bag. But it did and, thankfully, I was able to carry it with ease. It wasn't too heavy... I'd only been carrying it for a few seconds but it seemed bearable. I couldn't imagine how carrying it twenty four - seven would feel. With it on my back, I left the comfort of my bedroom and headed down the stairs. To think I won't see my room again or my collection of plushies for a while now. Although... As childish as it may seem, I'd managed to sneak a plushie into my rucksack. It was a fluffy Growlithe plush - my favorite plushie. They wouldn't notice a missing plushie, would they?
Once downstairs of our beach house, my parents waited for me beside the front door. They looked pretty upset that I was leaving, being their only child and all. But I think what upset my mother more was that I didn't want to become a breeder like her. I wanted to go travel. I used to get extremely jealous of the ten year old's who were allowed to go out and explore the region by themselves. My parents were just so protective over me, but I understood why.
My parents hugged me tightly.
"We're going to miss you so much, Kura. Remember to-" my mother starts before I interrupt her.
"Call everyday day, carry my Pokemon everywhere, eat, be careful, look after my Poke dollars," I recall all of their expectations, making them smile that I'd understood them.
"Well... I also got you this," she says, handing me a Pokeball, "She's the strongest out of all those I've currently bred. I hope you like her."
'Out of all those I've currently bred'. That wasn't very helpful for me being able to decipher what Pokemon my mother was giving me. She was currently breeding all sorts of Pokemon. Lucario's, Lopunny's, Swellow's. Either way, I took the Pokeball, not asking what 'she' was. I thought of it as a surprise.
"And I got you this. Since you're going to be a trainer and all, you won't be able to carry everything in that rucksack, of course," says my father, handing me a belt like object which had six pockets on the right side of it. I take it from him.
"What is it?" I ask out of curiosity, so that I knew what to do with it.
"A specially designed belt that allows you to put you're Pokeballs in it. It saves you from putting them into your bag and loosing them," he explains.
"Oh, that makes sense..." I put on the belt and put my first Pokeball in it, "Thank you both, so much, for everything."
"It's okay, we're doing it make you happy and so that you can live your dream," my mother said.
"But shouldn't you be getting to Hawthorn?" my father points out.
That's right. I had to meet him before I catch my ferry. He said that he wanted to give me something before I left. So, with that, and a finally hug from my parents, I left for the Pokemon research lab of Lapis which, coincidentally, was in my hometown. Actually, it wasn't too far from my home. A few minutes walk was all it took to reach the white building.
Kura walked inside - it was like her second home. As a kid, she'd spend so much time here as her parents and the Professor were close friends. Inside the lab, it was just as messy as she'd remembered. Papers, books, more papers and more books, littered everywhere. The papers, she assumed, were reports on the kind of Pokemon found in the Lapis region. However, no 'new' Pokemon had been found, yet. Kura was almost adamant that the Professor had finished zero-percent of these reports, and will probably never finish them. He'd start on one Pokemon, then quickly move onto another which catches his interest.
"Ah, Kura, you're here! Now then, what was it that I was meant to give you... Oh, yes, this," Hawthorn says, digging around in a filing cabinet.
It was a surprise that he could find anything in here. Kura watched as the older man pulled out a green device of some sort and a Pokeball which looked familiar to the one her mother gave her.
"This here is a Pokedex. It records the data, automatically, of all the Pokemon you meet. Usually, they come in either red, blue of pink, but I got you a green one, since I know that that's your favorite color. As for this Pokeball, it contains your favorite Pokemon from your childhood. But whether it's you're favorite Pokemon now... Well..."
"I'm sure I'll love it, whatever it is. Thank you Professor."
I take the Pokedex and Pokeball from him, putting the dex in my bag and the ball on my belt. We exchange a hug without any awkwardness.
"Remember to keep in touch, okay? I want to see how your dex is coming along," says Hawthorn.
I laugh, "Sure, but I'd best be going before I miss my ferry to Agate."
"Good luck with you're adventure Kura. And maybe try out the gym challenge while you're at it!"
I hear him call out something about a 'gym challenge' as I walk through the lab doors. For now, I shrug it off but it would be something I'd have to research later. I make it to the ferry, just in time. To my surprise, there weren't many people on board. Minutes after boarding, the ferry was soon moving and heading towards Agate Island, or Town as some refer to it as. There was no going back now. She was actually beginning her journey.
I sat in a quiet corner, there was no one else here. I put my bag down (it had been hurting my shoulder a bit) and took the two Pokeballs from my belt. Until now, I had no idea what Pokemon were in them. I lightly tossed them, calling out the Pokemon inside. Within seconds, in front of me stood two dog-like Pokemon.
The first was orange, with black
stripes on it's legs and back. It had a white snout and had a
fluffy, white tuft of fur on top of it's head, a fluffy, white mane
and matching tail. I, instantly, recognized it as a Growlithe. My
favorite Pokemon, during my childhood. It looked identical to the
plushie I'd brought with me, except, this one was real.
The second Pokemon was slightly smaller. This one was brown and slightly cream in color. It had long ears and large brown eyes. It was mainly brown, with a fluffy cream colored mane and a cream tip on it's tail. I'd heard a lot about this Pokemon. Eevee: The Pokemon which had the potential to evolve into eight different Pokemon.
The Pokemon exchanged strange looks and sniffed each other. It was awkward to watch but they soon felt comfortable with each other. They then turned to me, before jumping onto my lap. Whilst they were nuzzling my face, I was trying to prevent them from falling off as there really wasn't enough room for the both of them.
After meeting and greeting them, and feeling self conscious about the fact that I was literally just talking to myself, I decided that it was time for some lunch. I poured out some Pokemon food for Growlithe and Eevee, before digging out a packed of dried berries for myself. Spoilers, they ate most of the berries. Whilst eating, it came to mind about how plain it was to just call them 'Growlithe' and 'Eevee'. I wanted to give them names. Something special. I just didn't know what. I'm sure I'll think of something. Besides, I have about two hours to think of names.
Whilst on the ferry, I'd also thought of names for my Pokemon. Rubie, the Growlithe, and Pearl, the Eevee. I think they were happy with their chosen names. We'd also explored the ship a bit. Checking out the cafes and watched the Wailords in the ocean from the deck; they were huge compared to Rubie and Pearl.
Anyway, we got off the ferry and headed straight to the Pokemon Center to get a room. As well as free health care, here in Lapis we get free-three days accommodation. They're like hotels here compared to those in other regions. However, you have to pay extra if you wish to stay longer than three days at any time. It's quite useful. It means I dont have to build a camp every night.
After getting our room key, we went out to explore the town. It was quiet, a few markets here and there. Nothing really caught my eye. After no more than an hour of exploring, we headed into the rainforest to train.
Pearl learnt return and swift.
Rubie learnt flame wheel and bite.
I didn't want to work them too much, being young Pokemon and all. They had so much determination to battle and continued without me telling them too. It soon tuned into playing, however. They began chasing each other around, running through bushes and tackling each other. And then everything went quiet.
