Lucius was working his usual morning shift at the local Starbucks which was inside a Barnes and Noble bookstore. He absolutely loved it here, they had an almost endless supply of books varying from erotic romance novels to large shelves of action packed manga. A drink the mortals call coffee is pretty popular as well, which he didn't see why at first. But once it reached his lips he knew why the mortals loved it so. You could even use something called creamer to change the flavor! So that's how he began working at Starbucks. He also got to meet a lot of mortals, oh he mean't "humans" here as well, some of them had dyed hair, while some of them had tattoos or even piercings. The possibilities were seemingly endless.
A tall man with chocolatey brown hair came forward after spending a few good minutes staring at the menu above his head. "I'd like to order a tall iced coffee, please." the man spoke. "Sweetened or unsweetened?" the angel asked, his voice soft and melodious. The man was taken back by the sound of his voice "S..sweetened, sir." he said, stuttering on his own words. "Alright.. anything else?" he asked. "No.." the man replied, "Okay your total is... y'know what? I'm in an awfully good mood today. So this one's on the house. Enjoy." he winked. The man didn't say anything, he just took his drink and left. While he was in a good mood today, that was the last order he was taking before his shift was over. 'Phew.. this is exhausting.. well, at least it's over. Maybe I'll at a browse around the store..' he thought.
"Hey Lucius? Did you just give that man a free drink back there?" he heard his boss's voice behind him. 'Annoying..' he thought. He was caught in the act. "Yes.. I did ma'am. But you didn't see anything. I'm finished with my shift, I'm going go browse around the store, and you didn't see anything." he said with a charming grin. "Yes.. I didn't see anything. You're free to go Mr. Hart." the woman said, as if she was in a trance. "Great, I'll see you tomorrow." he took off his apron and set it on the coutner. Then left to one of the book shelves on the far right.
"Too easy.." his said in a whisper, dashing in between two shelves. A book with a flashy red cover caught his eye, as he removed it from the shelf and buried his nose in it.
Grey stared at the scene before him. Elijah and a blonde, who's name was unknown to him, kissing. Her arms were wrapped around his neck, her hands entangled in his blonde locks. He held her by the waist, the way he holds Grey. Grey hadn't realized he was crying til he felt a tears drop from his chin into the floor. Elijah pulled away from the girl, smiling at her with the list and love he usually saved for Grey. Elijah suddenly seemed to notice Grey, and his eyes were wide. They stared into each other's eyes- blue on green- until three more tears slipped from Grey's eyes. "Gre-!" Elijah didn't get the words out before Grey turned and ran out of the Drama room. He sprinted through the halls to the men's bathroom, collapsing after entering and locking a stall. He leaned against the wall, sobbing. Why would Eli do that...? Grey thought he was in love with Eli...
Aimee felt herself become emotional. She always felt for the main character, and she felt her own tears drip down her cheeks before she mopped them up. She felt dumb, stupid for crying in public.
After reading two chapters of the book, he loved it. The main character starts of going to a club with her friend, being the curious little bugger she is she follows a boy dressed in black clothing. Only to find them about to kill another human, or so she thought. Turns out that human was actually a demon, and attacked them. The boy then killed the demon, turns out the boy had angel blood in him. And exterminated demons for a living. He found the book surprisingly accurate. 'I wonder who wrote this.' he thought, looking for the author's name. 'Clare? Wait, that's her last name.' he thought, well, he could always look it up on the internet. What a interesting tool it is, you can find the most obscure things on there. He walked away from the shelves, making his way towards the front of the store.
He spotted a red-headded human reading a book, she was crying as well. Crying? Lucius walked up to Aimee "Hey, are you alright?" he asked, he didn't know what to do with his face. His facial expression was both of concern and surprise. He didn't expect a human girl to be so emotional towards an animate object. "Do you need a tissue or anything?"
Aimee jumped at the book and looked up. "Oh, yeah. I'm fine, sorry. This book just had a very sad twist. Thank you for the concern, though." She spoke politely, her voice sweet and young sounding. She pushed up her glasses, smiling. She slid the bookmark into the novel, and shut it. She combed her hair back, putting it into a messy bun. She thought she may be able to talk with the young man more, so she grasped her drink and turned the chair to face him. She sipped the drink, sweet taste filling her mouth. She swallowed lightly, licking a bit from the corner of her mouth. She smiled up at him, and beckoned him to sit down silently.
'A sad twist?' Lucius thought. He noticed two things, a British accent, and the yellow streaks in her hair as well. "Thank you for your concern though." he managed to hear her say, despite tuning out all the voices around the room. He didn't expect her to thank him, humans were always surprising him in the most weirdest ways "Oh no, it's no big deal.. I guess I was just very curious as to why you would be crying out in public." 'Do all human girls do this?' he thought, if they did he didn't know what to think about that. 'Probably not try and get on their bad side.' he said mentally, before he noticed Aimee beckoning him to sit down in the other chair. "Oh, okay." he muttered, sitting down. "So, what's your name?" he asked, setting his book on the table, his piercing yellow eyes scanning the girl. As if he was analyzing her every move. 'She said the book she's reading had a sad twist, I wonder what she mean't by that..' he thought.
