"Nothing." Kain lied, it was obvious but he couldn't bear to tell the truth to her. What if I do tell her, what would she say? What would she do? Will she still be my friend afterwards? his thoughts continuing to plague him.

"O-okay..." Espy said, looking away. She knew he was lying to her, and it hurts her heart. She let go of his hand, and continued to eat her soup. Her ears turned red, as they usually did when she was sad.
