Welcome to PH Tales.
I'll be posting pH tales here now, because they usually just pop out of nowhere.
So take some time to read them, and please do comment after reading.
I would love to hear your thoughts.

Farmer's Nightmare

It was a regular ol' day for farmer Riako. He fed his farm animals, his family, but something didn't seem right once it became night time.
Something has changed, and it was a bit fishy. Riako owned a pond of fish near the back of his farm. He started off with 10 fish, but now he has 8.
He lost one yesterday, and now wonders why he lost the other. The fish pond is highly secured, so no fish could flop out, and nothing can hop in without being caught.
So Riako decided to sleep outside for the night in hopes of solving his fish problem.

Riako pulled up a tractor to lay on while he scans the area for any clues to what may be happening. Riako keeps his eyes peeled open for an hour or so until he gets super tired. He calls it quits and decides to sleep for a bit. But that bit of sleep was interrupted in the middle of the night by a huge noise that sounded like rough scales dragging along wooden logs. Riako woke up and quickly sprung to his feet.

He shouted, "Who's there", and got no response. Riako took out his pistol he had in his holster and slowly crept over to the sound. He got closer and closer and turned on the flashlight on his gun.

Then Riako shrieked in horror as he saw a huge figure that resembled a Mermaid. It was at least 6 feet in height, and a foot in a half in width. The monster let out a screech and quickly slithered over the logs that protected the pond. Riako ran over to his pond, and saw magikarp bones floating in the blood red water. He couldn't believe what he saw, and got real angered.

Riako cleaned the pond, and began to build a stronger protection wall of logs around the pond. Once he was finished, he went and told his family about the incident.
But, his family wasn't shocked. It just started to go around on the news that farmers are losing their fish every night mysteriously.

Riako went back to the tractor a bit early, and decided to sleep early. He thought if he slept early, he'd wake up right on time for the Mermaid.
So after a few snores and dreams galore, the Farmer woke up to the sound of bone crushing and "KARP KARP KARP!".
Riako grabbed his gun and didn't turn on the light this time. He shot in the direction of the sound, and quickly ran over with the light on.

"Ha, you thought you'd get away with eating farmers fish huh? Well you thought wr-..." as Riako says with a pause. He looks down at the huge Mermaid struggling to move, and it slowly transforms more into a human.
"No way..."
Riako runs over with tears in his eyes, only to see he had shot his oh so loved daughter...killing her.
"WHAT HAVE I DONE?! TO HAVE SHOT MY ONLY DAUGHTER! HOW AM I GONNA EXPLAIN THIS TO..."
Then he pauses...and starts to break into more tears. He picks the gun up and places it to his head, then he looks back down at his daughter, "I'm gonna go be with you Leah, don't you worry". Then BANG, the shot went off, laying down the farmer next to his daughter.

The family (now mother and two sons) woke up the next morning, to see that Riako and Leah were dead next to each other. They told police from the city to investigate, and it was ruled as murder from the Farmer, and suicide from the Farmer.
But sadly, the only thing left behind was, who was eating all the fish in the nearby farms? Well, it doesn't matter now since the Mermaid is dead. So the farmers eventually forgot, and everything went back to normal.

The family closed up the pond, and sold the remaining fish. They sold the farm and moved to a different farm to get away from that area they used to live at. They couldn't wake up everyday knowing they're going to work on a farm two family members died on.
To this very day, the new family who moved in say you can hear the sound of bones crushing and not so loud gun shots almost every night at around 3am. They say that they wouldn't dare go out there. Hearing it from indoors gives you chills.

So yeah, that's the story of the Farmer Riako and his daughter Leah, who was really the Karp eating Mermaid.
