Chapter One

The sky roiled and churned, blacker than coal. Thunder crashed and lightning danced across the skies. It was perfect for Alex Bloodstone, who stood at one of the mansion's great, angular windows. With his pure white hair, black ridged horns, and great, sweeping wings, he was intimidating to anyone outside of the Region of Goshen. Alex, being misunderstood by any outsider, was a perfect companion for ghostly Pokemon. In fact his Ghastly, Luclin, never left his side.

Rosa, the sister of Alex's wife, Marian, sauntered up to the window.Rosa had flowing red hair, ruby colored eyes, and two smooth horns. She was not one for fear of thunder and noise, but her poor Litwick, Sasha, did not share her bravery. Sasha came with her, reluctantly, but she came.

"So Alex, the tournament begins tomorrow. Will you cancel because of a little water?" she whispered sensually. That was how Rosa was. It didn't matter who it was,she always sounded as though she were seducing the person when she spoke. Alex stared out the window and said nothing. He would not be dragged into another fight about how to raise Pokemon. The tournament was serious, yes, but the health and well being of their Pokemon came before anything. All three families had agreed to that.

Rosa shrugged at his silence, walking off to bother someone else. Alex released his breath, not realizing he had been holding it. The tournament did make him nervous. Luclin could sense his master's uneasiness and rubbed against his hand as best as he could Alex smiled, then left the window. It was time to prepare the others.
