A couple hours after the ship wrecked, a few survivors washed up on a shore of a island. That is where the story begins

Katie groaned, as she started coughing up salt water onto the sandy beach. She pulled herself up onto the shore a bit more. She could barely remember what happened, but she knew most of the cruise passengers were probably dead. The women sat there a minute longer, resting, before standing up. She then stretched and began walking the beach, looking for other survivors.

Derek laid under a small palm tree, just off the shore where he woke up. He was exhausted, and in pain from the wreck. He figured he was the only one left alive. He had gotten up, and walked under this tree to escape the hot sun. After a few minutes, the red-headed man had fallen asleep.

Victoria could barely move. She was more tired than she'd ever been before; she never suffered such a terrifying and near-death experience. She weakly lifted her head to gaze at her surroundings. She was alone, lying on the hot sand with part of her legs still in the freezing water. Hardly daring to even recall what had happened before, she extended her arms to pull herself out of the water and closer to a few tall trees.

Alex sighed in frustration as he sat in the sand a few feet away from the water. He could only taste the ocean water he had gotten in his mouth when he struggled to breathe after he went overboard. He pushed the thought to the back of his mind, as it was all he could remember. He stared out at the sea, finding nothing but shining blue water; if there were to be any signs of rescue, it couldn't be for a long while, right?

Derek finally awoke, as he heard a loud noise in the island forest behind him. He stood up, stretching as he glanced around. He squinted his eyes at the water, as he saw a figure on the sandy beach. No way.. he thought to himself, as he began walking closer to the figure. "Are you alright?" he yelled out, when he got close enough to see it was a women.

Katie hummed, slightly, as she walked the shore line. I hope I'm not the only survivor.. she thought to herself, as a single tear ran down her face. She knew how to cook, thats for sure, but she wouldn't be able to find or build shelter, or stay safe. She let out a soft sigh, as she continued walking, only this time, she stared out at the water.

Victoria took a moment to look up, feeling a wave of relief as she saw and heard another being. A part of her wanted to stay collapsed on the sand as she slowly moved to sit herself up. "I-I'm fine...!" She replied in a stutter. Does this guy live here or was he on the ship? She wondered.

Alex flinched when the sand's heat burned his hand. He sighed and got up, wandering to find some shade. He settled down under a few trees, completely lost in thought.

Derek smiled, slightly. He wasn't alone. He walked up beside her, "I'm Derek, I'm assuming you were on the ship as well?" he questioned. He looked out at the sea, as he frowned slightly. "I thought i was alone there for a while.." he then explained, looking back at the women.

Katie finally looked away from the sea, as she stopped walking. "Maybe i am alone..." he muttered, with a sigh. She turned her body, to look at the forest behind her. She then noticed out of the corner of her eye, someone sitting under a few trees. "Or maybe I'm not.." she then stated, excitedly, as she walked toward the person, hoping they are nice.

Victoria nodded, shaking a little. She did her best to keep still and said, "I'm Victoria. I thought I was the only one here," she half-mumbled. "Do you have any where we are, though? There is a chance someone could live here..." she knew that sounded a little ridiculous, but she was too curious.

Alex leaned against the tree trunk, switching his attention from the sea to a figure he realized was a person. His thoughts were replaced with hope as he stared at them, noting the person to be a woman. "Hello..?" He found himself sort of calling to her.

Derek shrugged, "I'm not sure. After i washed up, i went and took a nap... the wreck did a real number on my energy. " he explained, as he pointed towards the forest. "I'm thinking maybe there are people on the other side of the forest, But i wanted to find all the survivors i could before heading that way." he explained, with a half smile.

Katie smiled, as she quickened her pace towards him, "Were you on the ship...?" she questioned, wondering if maybe he was a local. Once she was near him, she stopped walking, her arms in front of her body, as she held her own hand. She was a very nervous and shy person when it came to men.

She nodded again in agreement. "I guess i don't have a lot of strength, either," she tried not to sound like it was obvious. "...There may not be a lot of survivors here, you know. But if there is.. then we probably should start looking now?"

Alex blinked. "Yeah. You were too, I'm guessing," he said, standing up. ".. I'm Alex, by the way.. May i ask for your name?"

Derek nodded, before stretching his hand out to her, with a smile. She did say it did a number on her, so he wanted to be polite and help her up.

"I'm Katie! " she introduced herself, with a smile. She then glanced around the island again. "I'm guessing you haven't found anyone else? " She questioned, with a sigh and a frown.

Victoria hesitated for a few seconds. Even if she just met this person, he was still a stranger to her. But there was no other choice, right? With his help, she slowly got up, shaking slightly.

"Unfortunately, no," Alex said. "I haven't really gotten anywhere. But there's a chance others are here... somewhere." He pointed out.

Derek smiled as he helped pull the women up. He then put his hand into his Jean pockets. He looked around quickly. "Have you gone far, or explored any? " he asked, wondering where they have looked.

Katie nodded, "I'm just glad I'm not alone..." she muttered, with a small smile. She glanced around for a moment, "I'm going to look for others. "She stated, as she passed the boy and the trees, heading down by the water again.

"N-No..." Victoria replied, hoping not to sound too disappointing. "I was kind of wanting to, though."

Alex gave a nod and responded with, "Me too." He turned to the small entrance to a forest behind him and took a moment before heading in to search. He doubted anyone would be there, but it was probably the best place for anyone to be.

Derek nodded, "Well, I've searched up this way."he said, pointing to the left of them. He then turned the other direction, "So, lets check this way!" he exclaimed, as he started walking through the sand.

Katie ran her fingers in her hair, with a slight hum, as she walked down the beach. She was hoping they weren't the only two there, he didn't seem very people-person like. She let out a soft sigh.

Victoria went silent for a second before agreeing and following Derek. Somehow she always felt awkward around other people, even if it were her own family. Then the words struck her. My family. She could only assume that they were all dead now. As she walked, a crushing feeling got half her attention that she would have to break into tears if she kept thinking about it. She struggled to shake it off, but the feeling clung to her and only grew stronger.

Alex walked through the large-looking forest in search of other people. He sighed, hating to sort of just leave Katie like that, but he was longing to find help. He ventured through, occasionally calling out for anyone, but nobody seemed to hear. They probably couldn't, anyway. He was getting pretty far in to really be heard.

Derek kicked at the sand, as they walked along. He squinted his eyes, as he started to see a figure. "I think i see someone up ahead." he stated, looking at Victoria, for a moment. He quickened his pace, so he could see the figure sooner. As he got closer, he noticed it was a women. "Were you on the cruise as well?" he yelled out to her, as he got closer.

Katie stared at the two figures for a moment, before quickening her pace as well. "Yes i was!" she called back out, as she walked up to them both, with a smile. "I'm glad we aren't alone." she stated, when all three of them met. "I'm Katie," she introduced, with a grin.

What does she mean 'we?' "I-I'm Victoria," she said shyly. "Err, so... there's someone else with you?" She asked. She was curious to find any others on the island, but at the same time she wasn't looking forward to meeting any new strangers. She sighed.

Alex had gone a little ways in before he gave up, since there was pretty much no sign of life other than the forest and a few birds. He turned to head back, slightly hoping in the back of his mind that he hadn't gotten lost.

Katie smiled, "Yes, uh, Alex, i left him back-a-ways." she stated, turning her head, to look behind her. She then looked up at the sky, seeing it was starting to turn colors. "Oh no.." she muttered, with a sigh and a frown. "We will need to find shelter for the night soon!"she exclaimed, as she started walking backwards. "It'll probably be best if we stay together.." she explained, with a smile.

Derek nodded in agreement with the women. "I'm Derek, by the way." he stated, as he started following the women back the way she came. He glanced at Victoria, "You okay?" he whispered to her, wanting to make sure. He didn't know these women but he felt like he should protect them from any dangers.

Victoria grew uneasy at the sight of the sky changing colors. Darkness possibly meant trouble. She decided to follow Katie; she didn't quite have another choice. As she walked, and glanced at Derek, and bit her lip."Scared," she admitted in a whisper, staring ahead.

Alex's bad feeling grew stronger as he walked. He looked up. "Great..." He muttered, breaking into a faster pace. He headed into what he thought was the way he came, and didn't feel hopeful until he managed to find his way out. He stopped on the sand, finding himself alone. Either Katie had gone really far off, or he somehow emerged onto a different part of the island. Groaning, he headed to his left and started searching again.
