What do you believe about the Universe?
Forum-Index → General Discussion → What do you believe about the Universe? As a devout Darwinist, I believe in the Big Bang Theory and I also think the Universe is oscillating (both contracting and expanding; it contracts then expands, so the average size is technically the same.)

But you're free to believe whatever you want, so ^^

That being said, although I can't understand you guys (and how you guys understand the Bible) it's just another view...
(Again, the Bible only talks about God creating the solar system in 7 days. Nothing about the rest of the universe.

@g00gle: I think you said that before?

I'm kind of a new-age believer, I've looked at several different religions and new age thoughts and from what I know from what I've seen to make up my own mish-mash of thoughts on the matter.
If I sound like an idiot this is my opinions, K?
I believe in the string theory more or less. I think that maybe the reason why the big bang occurred when some sort of disturbance in a parallel universe snapped and opened something similar to a black hole or a wormhole and through equilibrium a decent amount of matter and dark matter came in through the breach before it sealed back up, and why our universe is slowly ceasing to expand is due to it almost reaching equilibrium.
Now, as for the presence of gods and such, I think that Magic and Deities exist in a form, and I do believe in reincarnation.
As I see it, the afterlife is an empty space with clear ground and sky, and where spirits of all living beings wait until they feel ready to continue on to their next life. The beings we may see as deities may be the eldest of the spirits we meet those that have learned all that they can or want to from their lives, and when they live in the afterlife they give their knowledge away to others. Promises are made here, and maybe some rivalries from other lives continued across this plain, and that made differences in opinions or what each individual experienced causing different lessons to be learned. I don't think "God" is the first spirit, and I haven't put much thought into where the souls that are here already came from, or where new ones begin or come from, or where we go if we choose to continue past this world.
And I'll stop boring you now. I'm probably digging my grave here o.o
sorry for my english.
i have nothing against religious people, just saying.
Agreeing with Lunarflame, I don't think that we might ever comprehend the universe and it's formation completely. Rather, we can come up with theories and ideas for how it all came into play, but it's one of our greatest unanswered questions! ^^
