I think the egg boxes are at a bs price. They shouldve at least started you at 5 with those prices. Either prices should drop,or capacity should be higher

Actually you don't. They were added to make life easier on us, so the prices are perfectly fine as they are.
If you are shiny hunting, you shouldn't be trying to fill your dex at the same time. And when you're not shiny hunting, you can fill your dex without an egg storage box.

The boxes are a feature to help users who sometimes get the wrong egg while shiny hunting.

"Oh, no, the Skitty egg I was snagging from the lab was sniped and gave me a hard rarity egg instead! That'll break my chain!" type of thing.
Or in the case of the Raylong event: "Raylong from the lab won't break my chain. There's an egg!" You try to grab it, and wind up with a Krabby egg instead. Bye bye Natu Chain of over 50. (Which really happened before the egg storage was added)


If you are working on a shiny hunt and want to just fill the pokedex, you could always participate in auctions and trades for the pokemon you want, then breed or buy the eggs from the gem collector when you aren't on a shiny hunt.
