~Fawnasia~
~The Land of Fawnishes~

Fawnishes are an original species created by me in 2012. They were first created as an accident while trying to draw a wolf, and they have slowly evolved into the elaborate species that they are today. In this Diary thread, I will explain everything there is to know about Fawnishes and the species that they share their habitat with.

NOTE: Please do NOT post in this thread. It is meant solely for explanation of Fawnishes.

~Fawnasian Species~
(Please note that all examples have a plain design with a white basic color, 100% hoof opacity, and a fire element.)
Fawnish

Fawnishes are the dominant species of Fawnasia. They have large tails, wings, long, hooved legs, a fairly small snout, and are able to breath underwater. Each Fawnish has it's own element that they discover around the age of 4 seasons (1 year). After discovering their element, they are decorated with a pattern colored by the element. Their color scheme generally consists of two colors: their basic color and the color of their element. Their hooves are identified by their opacity, heavier hooves being darker. Fawnishes with darker hooves can swim deeper, while Fawnishes with lighter hooves can more easily stand on clouds. Fawnishes are omnivores, meaning they eat both meat and plants. Male Fawnishes have horns/antlers and are the hunters of the species, while females are the gatherers. There are three sub-species of Fawnishes: Earth, Air, and Water.

Earth Fawnish

The Earth Fawnish is the basic sub-species of Fawnish. They have a mid-sized tail and large chibi wings. Their legs are the strongest of all the Fawnishes. Their hoof opacity generally ranges from 35% to 85%. They settle mostly on the plains and forests.

Water Fawnish

The Water Fawnish is the aquatic sub-species of Fawnish. They have a large tail and tiny chibi wings. Their two legs and wings are the weakest of all the Fawnishes, while their tails are the strongest. Their hoof opacity generally ranges from 70% to 100%. They settle mostly in the lakes, rivers, and oceans.

Air Fawnish

The Air Fawnish is the avian sub-species of Fawnish. They have a small tail and large wings that connect to the body. Their wings are the strongest of all the Fawnishes, while their tails are the weakest. There are two types of wings: Speed (Feathered) and Agility (Pixie). Their hoof opacity generally ranges from 10% to 40%. They settle mostly in the plains and clouds.

~Fawnasian Species~

Calfeen

The Calfeen is a less common species in Fawnasia that is closely related to the Fawnish. They are quite smaller than the Fawnish, and have large, fluffly tails. Their hooves also are formed of two toes instead of one. Like their larger cousins, they discover their element around their 4th season and are decorated with a pattern of the elemental color. Unlike their cousins however, they cannot fly, breath underwater, and do not eat meat. Calfeens are instead grazers. Their eyesight is greater than that of the Fawnish, and they are able to run faster for short periods of time. They generally settle in the plains and forests.

Sniflets, Loaty's, and Wraiths
[Sniflet: Lower Left] [Loaty: Lower Right] [Wraith: Top]

Sniflets are one of the basic pet species in Fawnasia. When adopted by a Fawnish or Calfeen, they take on the color scheme of their owner. They are herbivores, and prefer to eat berries and leaves. They can only live in the plains and forests. They are playful creatures who are loving and loyal to their owners.

Loaty's are another of the basic pet species. When adopted by a Fawnish or Calfeen, they take on a pastel hue of their owner's element. They are able to breath underwater and fly, and can settle in all environments. They are herbivores, and prefer to eat berries, or seaweed for those underwater. They aren't the most intelligent species, but are playful and loving.

Wraiths are the more exclusive pets in Fawnasia. They can only be tamed by Dark Fawnishes (may be described later) or Dark Element Fawnishes. When tamed by a Fawnish, their eye color changes to that of their own element, which is unknown until they are tamed. Unlike the other pets, they are carnivores and eat the same meat as their owners. Because they are composed of shadows, they are able to live anywhere. They are the most intelligent of the pets, and are very mischievous.

~Elements~

Each Fawnish and Calfeen discovers their element around the age of 4 seasons (1 year). While all the elements are equally common, Magic is seen as the rarest of all the elements. The elements are based around the four primary elements, with one secondary element under each of them. A Primary elemental has a small bit of control over their secondary element, but not the other way around. After discovering their element, their coat is decorated with patterns of their element. At this point in their lives, a Fawnish also sheds the name they were given at birth and rename themselves. When they discover their element, they are exposed to the element.
Ex. A Lightning element Fawnish may be struck by lightning and be unharmed.

Example of Elements and Fawnishes: Aqua being Water. Stardust being Magic. Lilypad being Plant. (See image on top post.)

~Reproduction~
This topic of the thread will be in spoilers due to some of the explanation. But don't worry, it's not gross or anything!!

Show hidden content
The reproduction process of Fawnishes, Calfeens, and Sniflets is specialized for their species. Unlike most mammals, these species produce both the male and female gamete. This allows for any type of pairing to produce offspring (Male/Male, Female/Female, Female/Male). The gametes fuse together when the two individuals press their snouts together, and the individual who provided the female gamete produces an egg after one week that hatches after one month. In short, two individuals kiss, make an egg, and hatch a baby. Although they produce eggs, they are all still mammals. Fawnishes can breed every season, Calfeens every 2 seasons, and Sniflets at any time.
