Castiel folded his wings to his side and hurried to catch up,
refusing to let them just walk away.
The other pokemon attempted to follow, but Cas shook his head. The
came to a halt and backed away, reluctant to leave their friend but
giving in and hurrying away.
Helioswift nodded in awe."You mean...other
legendaries,like..Giratina?"She whispered.
Ezio laughed, his stress relieved for a moment."Yes.All of them are
there, actually, but only some of them were assigned an item to
protect. They all hold a place in council, though, except for
Deoxys.Deoxys is....strange.Anyway,Giratina isn't mean,even though
he's the renegade pokemon and was banished for violence. He's
learned. You don't have to be afraid."Despite the shortness of his
words, they had traveled a fair distance.Helioswift was exhausted by
the quick pace they Ezio had set in hopes to get to the North
quickly, and they stopped to rest as the sun began to sink.
As Helio settled down on the ground to rest, she heard Castiel's
footsteps and her ears flipped up.She glanced at Ezio, who had
already fallen asleep, before standing up and starting after
him."Wait!Where are you going?"She called.
Castiel stopped, but didn't turn around to look at Helioswift.
"Well, you seem to be in good hands. I don't believe he wants me to
tag along." Cas looked up at the sky, biding his time before he
continued, "Besides, why does it matter? I just met you, after
all." Cas's blue eyes reflected the starlight, and the feathers on
his wings seemed to shimmer slightly in the moon light. He was
so...serious. The opposite of his usual nature.
Helioswift flattened her ears, offended, but carried on."Ezio is
having a rough time! He's always thinking, and he didn't know you
were here!"She was about to say something else, but a cold, white
puff fell on her nose.More began to fall from the sky.
Ezio woke up from the cold snow and twitched an ear at it,still
laying down."We must be closer to the North than I thought,if it's
snowing."He glanced up at the sky and nodded at a star glinting in
the night sky, visible through the thin snow clouds.
Helioswift wasn't listening. She was jumping about and trying to
catch the snowflakes in her paws.
Cas's ears flattened, "Doesn't matter." He watched the snow start
to fall, and his head tilted slightly to the side as one landed on
his nose. He stared at the flake as it melted, and he realized he
had been rather harsh. "I'm sorry Helio...I-I don't know what
possessed me to say that." He said sincerely. "Although I am not
sure it is a good idea for me to stay."
Helio stopped midjump and fell on her stomach before sitting up.She
twitched her ears to get the snow off them and nodded, even though
she was upset."I understand,"she said,even though she didn't.
In all honestly, Castiel didn't understand either. He had suddenly
become very...bitter. But he was back to his own hyper self now,
poking at the snow with a goofy grin on his face. He hadn't seen
snow since he had went on his first mission with Crystal and Queen.
Helio pounced on a spot of snow and scrapped with it until it was
scattered everywhere before she lay back down to rest. She dug into
the snow to create a sort of tunnel and crawled into it.
Castiel was unsure of what to do. He looked at Ezio, his wide blue
eyes questioning. He tried to fold his wings but they stuck out at
awkward angles. He tucked his tail around him and thought.
Ezio was still staring at the star when he felt Castiel's gaze on
his back.As uncomfortable as it made him,he didn't want to look
back and meet the blue eyes;they reminded him of how he had been as
an eevee too much.
But he couldn't just shun the eevee.
Ezio looked back at Castiel and smiled.
At the sight of Ezio smiling at him, Cas's face lit up with
happiness and a smile grew on his face. His thick, fluffy tail
tapped the snow.He didn't feel all that unwelcomed anymore.
Ezio looked back at the star and groaned inwardly. His shoulders
sagged with the responsibility of looking after Helioswift, and
getting her to the North safely. If Castiel was coming along,he
didn't think he'd have to watch him;he seemed grown up enough.
Cas looked over at where Helioswift lying in the snow, and a strong
urge to help protect her swelled in his chest. He looked back up at
Ezio, and inspected him. He noticed how his shoulders sagged, and
he made a guess. "I could help, you know. It doesn't have to be all
your responsibility."
Ezio pricked his ears at the words."You don't have to do that, you
know,"he said, wanting the help but not wanting to admit it
outright."She's a pawfull."
Castiel chuckled, "I want to help. Besides, she was supposed to be
my responsibility in the first place." His tail tapped the ground
as he thought about Crystal and Queen, probably both still out
looking for other new pokemon. He shook that image from his mind,
"I'd be more than happy to help."
