I had been looking for some trades in gts and I found myself in page 175 seeing ofers that are 5 months old and the users are more than 2 months offline.
So my suggestion is to make the trades, that are more than a month old, be cancel, counting on the time the use is offline.
Example: I set up an trade 25/08/2014 and went offline for just came back 26/09/2014 or I din't came back. My trade was cancel and my pokemon and the offers went back to their onwers. If I had came back in 20/09/2014 the time for the trade be cancel would be reset and the trade would continue.

Old trades do get deleted, so this is already implemented.

How old? because I know the 5 monts time limit, I am saying this to find a way to short down de list of pages of gts, you can put a offer on a trade that can get deleted but will take a lot of time for you get that pokemon back

You could check the user who set the trade up, and see if they are active or not.
If they are not active, then it's best if you don't offer as you may not get a reply.

I am seeing the worse of the hipotesis, I mean if the user die or simplement stop playing one day after you ofers a rare pokemon in his trade and five days after you need that pokemon.
