He scoffed, slightly amused. "Well, I wouldn't be rude and refuse such an offer. It could be fun, anyways."
As they continued on, Haze had been correct- the sandstorms had started growing. So far, it wasn't that hard to see, though.

Thunder nodded, turning to show her his pack. "I'm all ready!" He smiled, bounding happily over to the gates to the dungeon.

Nova didn't really mind the sandstorms, "Yeah...could be fun..." She said quietly to herself.

Taylor the Vulpix;

Taylor hurried over to the dungeon also, looking up at it with excitement. "Ready?"

Telera || Jirachi

Telera ignored his last sentence, swishing the gem around in her tiny little hands. "I have no idea," she admitted. "I only just found it about 20 minutes ago when we were in the vault. All I know is that every gem in there triggered the stone slabs to close in on us, and if you moved another one they closed even faster!!" She held up the gem a little. "All except this one!"
Looking to Jackal, she nodded with an excited smile. "Yes! That's right!" She tilted the gem again, watching as an illusion of waves swirled inside. "It's super pretty, just like the sea."

Eclipse || Espeon

"You know," the quiet Espeon chimed in, "this might not mean there's treasures here. A gem with an odd 'ocean current' inside? This could unlock a secret to finding something huge, maybe a map to a new dungeon, or even a legendary Pokémon who slumbers here in secret." She flicked her tail in wonder. "This place may be the Dark Ruins, but deep inside we may find this is only the first step." A shrug. "I don't know...just a thought to keep in mind."

Lyari || Lopunny

"Ooh, that's r'lly smart, Sunny," Lyari complimented, currently licking Pecha juice off her fingers. "But we'll never find out if we start exploring, right?" Her impatient self was itching to go on. This room had a shiny gem and a statue in it, great, that's cool, but not it was time to move on and explore the rest of the dungeon!

Haze || Greninja

Haze decided to break the awkward silence as the duo travelled through the sandstorms. "So..." he began, "when did you start exploring?"
Wow, what a lame question. Triple thumbs down for Haze.

Thunder || Shinx

"Ready!" Thunder nodded, tail flicking excitedly. "Let's go in on the count of three!" He wanted to make the moment even more exciting in hopes Taylor would want to continue exploring with him.

Taylor nodded, looking over at the shinx. "One..."

Nova the Braixen;

Nova didn't think it was a bad question at all. "About a year now I would guess. Used to have a partner. I don't now, though."

"Oh really?" He asked, actually quite interested in hearing about her former partner, for he had never had one, and probably never will- or so he thought. "What were they like?"

Thunder || Shinx

With a smile, he glanced over at the Vulpix as she looked at him. "Two...!"

"They were nice. It was fun while he was here. We laughed and had lots of fun adventures..."

"Three!" Taylor exclaimed, starting off toward the gates happily. This was going to be fun.

Haze nodded, although he really couldn't say he knew what she meant, for he'd never went exploring with someone before. Maybe once or twice, when a job mission asked for an escort, but not usually.
"What species were they?" He asked, curiously.

Thunder || Shinx

"Hey, no fair! You got a head start!" Thunder called as he raced after her, laughing as they ran into the dungeon's gates.

Taylor the Vulpix;

Taylor laughed, "Too bad!" she called back, running faster.

Oooooh this just got awkward.
"Oh," he replied, walking a bit slower as he heard her take a breath. He must have made her feel sad, bringing back memories from the past....
"Well, hey, I'm sure they were great," the Greninja told her, trying to smile although it was basically hidden under his 'tongue scarf'. He wasn't the best one to come to for comfort.

Thunder || Shinx

"Cheater, cheater, Pidgey eater!" the Shinx laughed as he raced after her. Boy was she fast! If only his name was 'Lightning' instead of 'Thunder', maybe he would have better agility.

"But that's all in the past. I-It's done now." Nova said with a forced smile.

Taylor the Vulpix;

"I am not a cheater!" The vulpix laughed joyfully. She then stopped, waiting for her new friend.

Haze || Greninja

Looking up at her, Haze's eyes narrowed. That forced smile was the reason.
"Look," he started, "there's no reason to force happiness if you aren't happy. Other emotions are there to be felt...and even though it hurts, you can't just bottle it all up inside."
I'm such a hypocrite, he thought to himself.

"Yes you are!" Thunder called, "A big one!" And when she stopped, he crashed into her six tails and tumbled backwards.
Blinking, she shook his head, looked at her, and simply started to laugh.

Oh god, what had he done? Nova was getting more panicked as the time went on and he felt guilty. He had to do something to fix it...
