"Who said anything about familiars? I'd probably spar with her on a better day than this if given the chance. She seems like a person you could learn lots from. Unlike you that is." Ain says flatly. "I'll also have you know that you are incorrect in assuming Meteora is a chicken but I can see how your tiny brain can get confused." he smiles emptily. 'I think I'm looking for a fight myself. It sure has been a while.' Ain thinks to himself with a small hum.

Shay smirks, "I never said we were going to use our familiars. A prodigy, such as yourself, should be able to use magic without one as well." She giggles, placing a hand over her mouth to stifle a much louder laugh. "Or are you not as good at magic as you think~?"

Shay snaps her fingers and a flame dances to life in her hand. "I may show propensity towards ice magic, but only because Riri makes it so much stronger~. Let's take this outside, Fox Boy."

Shay snaps her fingers, and 4 more Shays stand behind her, each drawing a saber from the sheath on their hips. "Nice pups. How much damage can you take before you're on your knees begging me to stop~?" Her green eyes glint again, all traces of a smile gone from her face, replaced by an icy cool display.

"Like you could!" Alex claps and the wolves each duplicate and grow... "Go Kitsunes... fight for me..." Alex whistles again and a rock Kitsune appears at his feet... and makes a tiny fortress with a ditch around it... "Begin! My affinity for magic is way higher since shapeshifting is so utility based... I can do plenty of things..."

(Hope everything is alright with your family Toma. We've had some arguments, mainly Alex stepping on some toes, some back and forth arguing and now a fight between Shay and Alex has broken out. I also believe it is being taken outside of the gathering room.)

Ain watches everything unfold, quickly analyzing as much as he can and gathering as much information as possible on both Shay and Alex. Meteora, who is snuggled into his scarf begins tapping her wing against his face immediately putting Ain on alert. His eye leaves Shay and Alex and begins scanning their surroundings. If Meteora was warning him that means someone who shouldn't be here is here.

((Shay and Alex are fighting, Ain is ready to join in. Not much plot progress tbh. Everything okay now?))

Sighing, Shay puts her saber away and glares, sending a copy at Alex before stomping the ground. An ice spike impales the kitsune, stopping it in its tracks. Her voice comes out icy and dripping with spite. "I said, let's take it outside. I would much rather not destroy another building."

Shay hums, watching Alex leave the room. She starts to follow then shuts the door and freezes it in place. Walking back to her seat, she sits down and claps her hand, the clones and ice disappearing without a trace. Turning back to the rest of her colleagues she smiles and props her head up on her hands. "I've always wanted to do that to him. His voice can be very grating on the nerves. So, following the imposter, mirrors, and grouping uo the students to punish the lot of them. Anything else?"

Shay grimaces hearing the voice behind her. She flicks her wrist and makes an ice slick in front of Alex before sighing. "Great. Now I have to fix the window, Fox Boy. Sit down and maybe I'll give you a cookie." She smirks and pulls another bag of cookies from her jacket, shaking them where her colleague could see.

Ain isn't able to contain his snort at Shay taking cookies out of her pocket. Meteora shuffles and settles down once again. 'Gone, huh? Someone or something was here though.' he grimaces slightly at the thought and quickly shakes it away for later.

"Students are like a rumor mill. You let it slip to one of something happening even if it's not and you can have most of them flocking to the scene. Those that don't come along will learn either way from the punishment that the ones who did come get. I think it should be sufficient regarding the students." Ain looks around for a couple of seconds before speaking again. "I think we need a way to always have the fake in our sights without having to be there then if he does something shady, so to say, we'll know about it." he nods to himself slightly, "We need to keep the possibility that he has accomplices here open because for all we know he does." he purses his lips in thought.

Shay shoots him one last glare before turning her attention to Ain. "True, but short of having someone sitting in the ceiling and watching through a small hole, how do we keep an eye on him without causing suspicion?" Shay puts the bag back in her jacket and pulls another one out, this one with small, fingertip sized things in it. "Does Meteora like peanut butter?" She pulls one out and hands it to Riri, the feline quickly eating the small treat.

"Meteora will eat almost anything. The only aversion she really has are a majority of fruits and berries, mainly the sweet ones. I guess she just doesn't like sweet things." Ain says as he gently nudges the phoenix towards Shay. Meteora flies and hops over to Shay curiously chirping all the while.

"As for watching the fake... I honestly don't know. I've read that there's some magic here and there that seers use but most of it is really drain-y stuff. Can't be kept up for long at all and takes time to learn. I don't know if there is any-" he abruptly cuts himself off. "There were some rumors..." he furrows his brow, "Something about people watching others with mirrors or still water. Anything with a still reflective surface. Is that possible? Is there truly even a spell for that?" he becomes quickly lost in thought and zones out.

Shay pulls a few more treats out of the bag, "Hello little one, these are a little sweet because Riri enjoys his sweets, but maybe you'll like them~" She leaves a small pile in front of Riri as well before looking up at Ain. "Someone with a fairy famliar might be able to use a spell like that, but I've heard they are pretty rare. Do we even have any professors with a fairy?"

Riri paws at the sleeve of Shay's cardigan, pointedly staring at the bag and the now empty space before him. "You're such a pig!!" Even with her protests, Shay places a few more in front of her familiar and then sets the bag on the table, sealed. "Maybe there's a book in the library? I can probably learn the spell, and if Riri helps me, I should be able to maintain it for a while."

"I'm not too worried about the reading and casting, but spells like that are meant more for checking in rather than constant surveillance so they take a lot of energy and when you're unconscious, whether intentional or not, the spell is turned off." Shay sighs and squeezes the bridge of her nose. We need a fairy, stat. There's only so much I can do with ice and the bit of different elemental magics I know.

"Do you think he'd be too dense to notice a wall in his office was gone and replaced with an illusion of a wall so we could just sit in the room next to his office and keeo an eye on him?"
