I'm Feeling Lucky

I've played one or two games from each generation that was released, and although Red/Blue and X/Y were not my absolute favorites, I prefer X/Y.

I do understand that when Red/Blue was first released the handheld gaming systems were still in their early days, and for the limitations in hardware and coding that existed at the time Red/Blue was absolutely fantastic! But then they remade it for GBA, and while I did pick up the game for nostalgia I was hoping for a little bit more in that day and age than just a rehash with a few islands thrown in at the end. It had what I felt was a lot of missed opportunities to further improve the storyline, character development, and added features. They also seemed to have migrated some Pokemon locations with no logical in-game explanation (like Ponyta). If they ever redo Red/Blue again for a 3D platform I'm hoping they would give the game a decent overhaul like what they did to the ORAS games.

XY was generally a lot more interesting to me because the game opened up with a bunch of things to do that kept me busy even when I wasn't progressing in the storyline (I loved Wonder Trade and O Powers, as well as making those silly trainer videos that no one watched). And then you could unlock more things as you progressed. I loved the rollerblades that made walking around a bit quicker and I spent tons of money on clothes. And I can't forget the berries! I love gardening in these Pokemon games and the berry patch was fun. And just when I thought I was done with the game post E4, the Friend Safari was unlocked and I had a lot of fun joining Safari communities and raiding their yards.

The cities of XY were somewhat confusing at first, but they felt closer to an actual city and town compared to the other Pokemon games. But the reason XY wasn't my absolute overall favorite was because it felt like a lot of the places in that game were not very memorable; it seemed like some took up space simply to give you more distance to cover, with a few Team Flare people here and there for drama. I also greatly disliked the fact that I was not allowed to attempt to capture the roaming legendaries immediately upon encounter, and instead had to chase them around on the maps several times before it landed. But overall I enjoyed the XY generation more than the Red/Blue one.

I suppose the answer to this depends on the definition of "worst" and "weird". On a lot of fan games, people will name their Pokemon after swear words and inappropriate contexts if they are allowed to, which then I would consider it to be a worst nickname.

For the weird ones, I've seen people nickname their Pokemon after its IVs so that they could easily pick it out of a box that listed Pokemon by names- it's practical but weird, especially if you imagine calling them by their IV nickname into battle :D . Naming Pokemon after common people names also seem weird to me, such as a Diglett named Bob, Rapidash named Jason and an Arcanine named Beth that I saw on someone's team once.

On the Wonder Trade of the official games I've gotten a bunch of those joke Pokemon that have funny yet terrible names- Snorlax named "YourMom" that had a Burn Heal item attached, Zigzagoons named "Sorry", "I suck" and "NoNotAgain" (this was during the early weeks of the ORAS release where everyone mostly had Zigzagoon and not much else). There was also a Pumpkaboo wonder traded to me that was named "Hahaha" that had an Everstone attached.

I received a Pokemon from the official game wonder trade during Christmas this past year that contained the name of a Pokemon website that was doing an Xmas giveaway. This was another one of those interesting yet weird names; it was nice, but I am not able to change its nickname so it will forever be named after a website.

The last weird nickname set I can remember right now was used by a couple of my friends who got the idea off of a random website to use on XY and ORAS. They named their Pokemon things like "IDontCare", "CoolHax" and "NoThanks" and kept them together in an easily accessible box. While they played the game they would be connected to PSS, and they would be spammed by people who wanted to do random trades with them. They actually liked to trade with random people, but there were many who only pressed trade to show off their shinies and stuff to you. What they did when they found one of those people was take one of their nicknamed Pokemon like "IDontCare" and then drop it into the counter-trade-offer box, hoping the people would get the idea and end the trade. It only had a 50% success rate though.

I've always had a fondness for Umbreon because it was the eeveelution of night. Glaceon would be a distant second because of how cool its cry sounded.

I only have one more left to find, and I have a feeling that I will stumble upon it only when I'm not actually looking for it..

Dear me,

It is not a good idea to tell a friend to pour water onto a gel candle that has been burning for a while for fun, even if they are bored out of their mind and want something exciting to look at. But if you do, tell them to take it outside first. Far outside, away from bushes.

If you don't want people to read something write a very lengthy version of it, otherwise try to make things as short as possible because most people you meet will have the attention span of a fish. In addition to that I now have years worth of evidence to prove to you that two thirds of people won't read everything written in a post on site blogs, so don't stress on needing to include everything when you are writing those. And put pictures. Pictures make people want to pay attention to it, no matter the length of the writing.

-insert the list of super bowl winners for the last 15 years so you can have fun pretending to be psychic when placing unofficial winner bets with family-

Most monster-based games you are commissioned to make images for will never make it to release because the heads of the staff team are inexperienced, and they were ultimately unable to come together to work as group with the same goals. Many of the leaders randomly decided to make a game together, but had conflicting ideas of how said game should work. The planning is eventually postponed as the leaders try to work it out, but they won't be able to settle on one thing. Sometimes it is because they are trying to work on too many things at once, other times it is because all of the leaders feel that their plan is superior to everyone else's and disagreements perpetuate. The game progress will stagnate indefinitely, their server hosting will expire, and you will never hear from them again.

I know the above won't really bother you because you will see the signs ahead of time, but that one game you particularly liked will never be released- it will eventually suffer the same fate as some other small group-based monster games. You will know which game I am referring to when you are introduced to it. What I would like you to try is to go and post to them while they are planning and just agree on some of the things that sound good in a game to try and help them solidify a plan of action. They will probably wonder why you are interjecting on their public discussions, but there is absolutely nothing to lose here because they are fated to split in a few months if everything is left to run its course.

There will be an early game that you encounter that has a fantastic consecutive log-in reward system. Tell the devs of that game to add something to the back end that will permanently save the max consecutive log-in number of accounts, or at least something that can survive 3 server crashes that occur in a very short amount of time. If they don't have one they will be in a world of headaches, and they will depend on you to buffer the player rage against them.

Everything else in life eventually works itself out, so don't sweat it.

Last but not least, I regret to inform you that your older self is still a bit of a light troublemaker when it comes to notes written to yourself. Snape kills Dumbledore.

Interesting theory, although I agree with the others that most of his Pokemon had a reason for their parting, so it didn't seem like he "abandoned" them.

But what kind of point would Arceus be making if it turned Ash into Satichu? It doesn't seem to be a line that would be fated to learn the consequences of abandonment. Instead, it would make more sense to me if he was turned into a Pokemon so that he could learn about the feelings and strengths of Pokemon better. He keeps losing all of these tournaments and parting with most of his stronger Pokemon, and in the battles he pretty much yells at them to do stuff even if it won't work. Sometimes he seems so uneducated in his attack choices that he relies on serendipity to win a bunch of his battles. Maybe instead of a vengeful transformation Arceus wanted him to learn what its like to be a Pokemon so that he could make better choices in what he does with them in the long run?

Sadly, I only registered on that game about a month before it closed. It was a really well made game from what I remember about it, and I especially loved the way you could zoom across the map XD

For me it would either be Magikarp or Vivillon. Magikarp would probably be easier to take care of though, because they can survive in various water quality (and I'm super lazy so I would probably forget to feed it too). And I love fish!

Title: Wheee!

Hi everyone, I joined a couple of days ago and I'm still trying to figure everything out :P I'll get the hang of it someday! As my tradition on Pokemon games go, I hope to eventually obtain a Magikarp (it's one of my favorite old-gen Pokemon).
