Vera groaned as she hit the ground. The Kirlia she was versing sneered, "Looks like you loose. Again." Vera pushed herself to her feet and and tried to use Energy Ball, only to be punched painfully in the face. The professor, an old Gallade, stormed over to her and pulled her up.
"Vera! If you cannot withstand a simple attack, then you have no place in this academy!" he shouted. Vera felt tears in her eyes but blinked them away.
"Yes, sir," she whispered. Just then, the bell rang and Vera was released. She picked up her textbook and ran out of the classroom.

"Wait, look over there," she said to Violet. Vera didn't know whether she should help or not, because now the Kirlia was pinned down.
Should I do something? she asked herself. Best not to, they look tough.
"And I don't have the nerve," she added sadly, blinking.
