Jing Yu glanced at his mobile watch (the most expensive recent purchase he made with his paycheck) lazily. The gunshot case was being handled by the on field officers. There wasn't any need for him to get involved in such petty cases like that unless he was assigned.

While on the other hand, the little ones are probably getting an earful from Narcisse from causing whatever trouble they made up. Jing Yu chuckled, this reminded him of the good old times, when he was just a intern like them with barely any experience on his belt except brute recklessness that he and Mawer shared. This not only caused both Narcisse (who was much more hot-headed back then) and the higher ups headaches, but also gave Jing Yu quite a reputation.

Of course that was just the past now.

Now. He is a experienced detective whom has solved multitude of cases, and has connections all over the industry. Despite his youthful and sunny personality, he is quite reliable in times of need. (at least he thinks so.)

Now looking at the time, he should still make it to the nearest restaurant for dinner Jing yu mused. A bright brain can't work without food in the stomach afterall!

It wasn't long before he saw the colorful sign of the restaurant in front of him. But in the corner of his eye, he saw a familiar presence.

"Yoo Old Mawer! Over here!"

Jing Yu's voice echo'ed across the neighborhood, passerbys looked at him as if he were crazy, but he paid no mind. Afterall, the only person he cared about was right infront of his eyes.

His partner in crime, Narcisse would sometimes dub then.

And he agreed.

Jing Yu slung his arms over Detective Mawer's shoulder with a shit-eating grin. "You mean those sad fries? I swear those things are outa the world! Now that we are talkin about those good ol' days, you wouldn't believe what I just witness a few days ago!"

Whisper-yelling like he was telling a grand story, Jing Yu paused to add suspense, once again, ignoring the deathly gaze across from him.

"..I was just grabbing a quick bite at my favorite place a couple street down minding my own business! I swear! Then a small cute recycle bot suddenly beeped at me! Saying that human shouldn't be eating pure fat, and that it's bad for health and the heart, and that I might suffer from heart disease if I keep on eating it yadayada, and stuff like that! Like what does it want me to do? Become vegan from now on?" Jing Yu smacked his hand on his chest, clearly he was very immersed in retelling his 'interesting' tale. His cheeks flushed from how passionate he was about this subject.

But he it wasn't as if he was wrong! If there isn't any fat in fast foods, then what's the point?! Jing Yu pouted angrily.

Jing Yu dramatically gasps, completely ignoring the Head Detective for moment for totally not petty reasons, "Well i'm sure my old creaking bones are sure plentiful younger than yours Old Nora " He grins playfully at Detective Mawer as he rebuked.

"If my memory serves me correctly, which it usually does, you still have those antique television from the old days in your living don't ya? If anything, you should be the one worrying if you could keep up with the trends ay?"

Finally, as if he just now suddenly remember that Head Detective Narcisse was still in the conversation, Jing Yu turns his head towards him.

"Ah Head Detective! I wouldn't per say that I am that young that you could call me brat, but then again! The Elderly do have the bad habit of considering anyone younger than them below them do they?" Jing Yu lightly scratched his cheek in embarrassment.

This guy is creating some drama again.

It was hard for Jing Yu not to bend over and immediately start laughing his whole intestines out. So the best he could to was ignore the lasering glare from a so-and-so head detective, and wipe a stray tear off from the corner of his eye as he let out a stray chuckle.

"Man.. If we keep up like this, you're just gonna scare away those interns I tell ya Head Detective! Don't ya agree Old Mawer?" Jing Yu joked, lightening up the atmosphere of the room.

Despite there only being a 3 year difference between he and Jace Mawer, he only does that to piss the other off for fun. It was entertaining to see some new reactions when everyday, all you see is blank, tired old eyes glancing at paperwork no matter where you look.

"I swear, I thought I was gonna die with how stiff the air is! Are all head detectives this stiff Narcisse?"

Jing Yu complained as he fluidly inserted himself into the twos conversation. This is what he is good at afterall. Surprise, surprise! Not all social workers at the agency are bad at socializing.

Jing Yu is a goofball. That is just pure facts. He does stupid thing for shits and giggles, and is probably the least reliable person you'd ever find in the whole wide world. Even a drunk passerby could be more reliable than he is in a investigation. But that doesn't mean he reached the rank of a detective by pure luck that was sent by the heavens. (that may be part of the reason though)

When on work hours he does take his job seriously, to some extent, with his easy-going nature he is easily able to worm himself in into any conversation. When searching for a statement from the victims or suspects, in the agency, he is one of the first person they call. His specialty is playing Good Cop and Bad Cop.

[History]
From a family of Chinese descent, Jing Yu was an energetic child growing up in the bustling city of Shanghai. Both of his parents were doctors whom were madly in love. So much that, it was a wonder why they brung up a child in the first place when nothing could stand between them.

Despite the neglect Jing Yu suffered as a child, it didn't really affect his childhood. He was still a ball of energy everywhere he went. He still was an intelligent kid who knew his way around people. Furthermore, to fill the empty space his elders left him since he was a child, Jing Yu's socialness made up for it. Thus growing up, reading people by their mood and expression was just like breathing air to him. It was natural.

Due to him being better off than most, when he entered the police academy, it was natural that he suffered from some discrimination. They didn't know that in sacrifice for money, Jing Yu had to abandon the hopes of a loving family. But Jing Yu wasn't going to tell them anyways. As in spite of the fierce competition, Jing Yu quickly graduated the academy with flying marks, and immediately rose up the ranks despite his troublesome personality that seems to cause more chaos than good.

Nowadays, Jing Yu is comfortably sitting in the detective seat, refusing any offers of transfers or promotion on the basis that he was "too lazy," and just casually solving cases that comes by, while picking on the new interns every so often when he feels that his back itches.

In conclusion, life goes up and down, left and right, like your sexuality, but no matter what, you'll end up in somewhere you belong.

"Tsk. Just gotta make me do all the work aren't ya.." Jing Yu shook his head, helpless at his friend's antics. But true to his character, he really does got her back.

Going forward with a uppercut before promptly slicing the zombies. Jing Yu couldn't help but shiver at the sensation of slicing human meat for the first time ever.

With mild disgust on his face, Jing Yu punctually swiped the poor zombie's head off, before shaking the blood off his weapon, all the while observing any abnormalities from the zombie.

"I dare you to comeback to life huh." Jing Yu kicked the bloodied torso away from him, grimacing from the strong smell of blood and sweat that floated around in the air.

"Yo Xiao Yu! Since you are behind it, wanna plan a sneak attack?"

This wasn't the first time he and Yu Xuanji had teamed up, if anything, the reason they became 'friends' was because of how well they worked together.

So it was kinda of a pity for the zombie to encounter them. But unfortunately, there were no pity in Jing Yu for the zombie though. Afterall, he can't waste any pity on something that's going to disappear in just a few minutes max.

Without our any further words, Jing Yu swept in with his makeshift weapon, and made a huge cut on the zombies chest. Ofcourse he could've went straight for the neck, but he want to.. stall for a bit.

Just to test somethings hehe.

"Uh- No?" Jing Yu, whom was currently deadlock in a staring contest with a very much green, shriveled zombie, averted his eyes awkwardly.

"Well.. um, that was abit more underwhelming than I had actually thought." To be honest, Jing Yu honestly thought that the infamous zombies would be.. a tad bit uh, scarier? What was in front of them right now honestly looks more like a human who hasn't at ein 10 days with slightly green skin.

The only thing that really gave him any goosebumps were the eerily dull eyes that had a predatory glint in them. But that wasn't a big problem for him at all. Plus Yu Xuanji isn't really phazed by anything either, so they really both should be fine, unless something even more unexpected will happen to them. (Don't jinx it goldfish.)

"Welp, you think we can get a critical hit on this guy first try?"

Jing Yu let go of Yu Xuanji and swung his makeshift weapon around with a grin, before he took on a basic fighting stance.

Hoho, time to split that zombie bastards head into pieces!

Hearing Yu Xuanji's sarcastic remark... sort of honestly comforted him. It calmed his nerves more than anything surprisingly. This was one of the better characteristics of Yu Xuanji. She may seem like a person who is none caring of everything and anything except herself. But when it's needed, her sarcasm is her way of comforting someone. (In Jing Yu's rose colored lenses of course.)

Already in a better mood than previously, Jing Yu chuckled and swung his free arm over Yu Xuanji's shoulder.

"Alrighty alrighty! Can't ya pity this poor soul even a lil bit? You do know that if one of us dies, the other doesn't have much chance of surviving either ya'know?" It is unsure whether being back to normal was a good thing for Yu Xuanji's ears though. As she may develop hearing problems later in her elderly life due to a certain goldfish's rambling.

But as the heavens say, good things never last for long. Since as they traverse though the narrow alleyway, it was made clear that they weren't the only people who thought of going to the store near the school, as headless bloodied corpses were found near the ground.

Jing Yu covered his mouth and fought back against the urge to gag. He tried to hypnotize himself that this was just video game, and the bodies weren't real. But.. it was.

The metallic bloody stench in the air was incredibly real, as it stung his nose. Even when Jing Yu accidently tripped on an outstretch hand, he could feel the warmth of a living human still permitting though the skin. But the sight of no head brought him back to the dark and bitter reality that there was no way that these bodies had any chances of being alive. Not even zombies.

It was only now, did Jing Yu understood how grave the situation was. Before he didn't take the situation as seriously as he did now. But now it was different, it was his first encounter with a dead body. The way his stomach churned and tumbled around made him want to vomit and gag on the spot. He thought he had seen all the horrors there was to it, but unfortunately, things aren't at it's worse yet.

As right there was a sound of groaning infront of them, with soft steps and saliva slowly dripping on the floor. WIth it's back arched and a dull, yet addicted gaze, the student, no, the zombie (Jing Yu instinctively knew) slowly stepped toward them.

Infront of them was their first ever zombie they have ever seen in the flesh.

The moment they get off the emergency exit, and enter the first floor of the school campus, they would officially enter the no-man's land. By that point, who knows if they could keep both of their lives intact.

"Haah.. I should've just sacrificed my perfect attendance and play hookie today.. at least then, I could preserve my life at the very least!" Jing Yu complained, trying his best to not let the anxiety show on his face.

To tell you the truth, he was afraid. Very Afraid.

He was very afraid to die, to die without even achieving even one of his life-long goals. He wondered how Yu Xuanji doesn't seem to be afraid of the looming threat at all. If only he was just slightly stronger, slightly smarter, just slightly.. more improved.

Would he be able to tread forward without hesitation as well?

Jing Yu gave himself a self-depreciating smile. Now was not the time to wallow himself in self-misery. The only thing that'll do was bringing a burden upon their back.

He gripped his yardstick tighter, veins almost popping with how tight he is holding on. The end of the stairway was in sight, as the innocent blue sky was entering their view. The sounds of growls, and yelping screams was now becoming more clearer than ever.

"...Are you afraid Xiao Yu?"

Jing Yu chuckled depressingly.

"I am."

"Sure sureee, whatever you say Xiao Yu~" Jing Yu replied cheekily. Despite the still light and airy conversation they are having, it was just a temporary distraction for the real terror that they were about to face against for the first time ever.

Jing Yu knew that, that was why he has been trying to divert their attention away from the looming zombies the whole entire time by purposefully teasing his lil friend over there.

But.. it seems like the time of peace was going to be over soon, as Jing Yu gripped his makeshift weapon of a yardstick tighter than ever, as a feeling of doom filled his stomach.

They slowly and silently walked down the emergency exit, weary of the signs of any brain dead zombies that they might find.

"Ehe, now you people don't miss me too much!~" Jing Yu swung the yard stick over his back, acting like a hooligan, as he winked at the students staying inside the art room. But seeing Yu Xuanji's leaving without him, he quickly forgot about the others, and chased after all.

"Heyhey! Wait up! How come you weren't this fast when we were walking to school ey?" Jing Yu complained as they both sprinted side by side to the emergency exit with Jing Yu just one step behind the other.

"Yes! Lil Fish is the greatest master of direction ever known to the history of mankind!" Jing Yu grinned, reached over and offered a fist bump to the introvert sitting at the front. Jing Yu's golden eyes were burning brighter than the sun almost, as determination filled his eyes.

"I knew you could do it! Now that is what I call perfect teamwork!" Not only was Jing Yu proud of himself for his quick thinking, but he was also proud of his friend over there. Despite her usual dazed self, she in reality is not a vegie!

"Now what are we waitin for!? Time for some action!"

Teamwork makes the dreamwork, and the pairs momentum almost seemed unstoppable!

"You said you memorized the school campus right? Then you must know where the emergency exit is!" Jing Yu smiled brightly, as he sat down on a random desk. Since this area where the school was located had an extremely low crime rate, it was natural that their school was safer than others, so it is very rare for student to go down the emergency exit. So that also means, where the emergency exit is located, the population of students should be very low!

"See! I still got a few brain cells workin!"

Now this is gotta work right?

Jing pouted, "Xuanxuan, stop pretending to be sooooo cool, imean you are- but like-" he sighs, as he jumbles his words. "Never minddddd" He rolls his eyes, clearly not taking the other's threat to heart. Afterall, he was the only friend the introvert had after all~

But jokes aside, Jing Yu could hear the rumbling and screams of the people and zombies down stairs frighteningly clear. His smile faltered, they got to make a plan quick.

"..Say, did your martial art skills get rusty yet? If not.. I may or may not have a lil plan~" Jing Yu's lips quirked up with a grin of mischief. But there was a glint in his eyes, that make the other's want to believe him subconsciously.
