So they were on a quest to save the world. Epic. She didn't need to launch her own campaign after all. The fact made Dee smile. She was with some cool people, though.

"Hiii! I'm Dee~" She smiled at the newcomers, slinking into their presence. "You all need stealth lessons. You're kinda bad at it. I can hear you from a half mile away." She laughed gently.

"...wait. Ruby, you're from the Moon?" She turned around as if she had whiplash, staring at him with curiousity.

Matty felt a small flutter of relief at Calmia's words, her laughter like a gentle breeze that temporarily lifted the weight of uncertainty from her shoulders. She managed a hesitant smile in response, her blush deepening as she realized that Calmia's reassurance could be taken as a form of encouragement.

"Doubtful, huh?" she murmured, her voice a mixture of amusement and shyness. Flirting wasn't exactly her strong suit, and she was suddenly acutely aware of her own awkwardness. She shifted her weight from one foot to the other, struggling to find the right words.

"I, uh... That's not really an answer. I mean, I'm not trying to force this onto you. I know I'm a lot," she stammered, her gaze flickering down for a moment before she met Calmia's eyes again. "I just... want to make sure we're on the same page, you know? I'm more than a little anxious."

She bit her lip, feeling the nerves bubbling up within her. Her analytical mind was racing, trying to find the perfect balance between honesty and not overwhelming Calmia with her own internal turmoil. The warmth of Calmia's fingers in her hair was both grounding and distracting, making it hard to focus on anything other than the closeness between them.

As they moved through the hallways, Nanami's mind buzzed with a mix of excitement and a hint of danger. Hotaru's enigmatic presence was like a magnet, drawing her in despite the rough edges that marked their banter. There was an electric tension between them, a game of words that felt both exhilarating and perilous. Nanami had always been drawn to the thrill of a challenge, and this rivalry with Hotaru was no exception.

Hotaru's confident pull on her arm brought a wry smile to Nanami's lips. She admired the other girl's audacity, her willingness to push boundaries and walk the fine line between flirtation and confrontation. Nanami was more than happy to play along, matching Hotaru's energy with her own brand of brazenness.

"Well, well, lead the way, oh mighty Sun," Nanami quipped, her tone dripping with sarcasm. "I'm sure the majestic dorms will be the perfect backdrop for your radiant aura."

Her head leaned against Hotaru's shoulder, a bold move that conveyed both familiarity and challenge. The physical closeness was a testament to their unspoken agreement to dance on the edge, to test the boundaries of attraction and rivalry. Nanami's fingers brushed against Hotaru's arm, a subtle touch that sent a spark of anticipation through her veins.

As they turned into another corridor, Nanami's eyes glinted mischievously. "You know, this whole 'chasing the sun' thing could be quite exhausting," she remarked, her lips curling into a half-smile. "But I guess it's worth it for the chance to bask in your brilliance, even if it burns."

Their banter was a dance of fire and ice, a whirlwind of barbs and attraction that seemed to defy the rules of normal interaction. Nanami reveled in the sharp edges of their words, the thrill of keeping up with Hotaru's quick wit. She knew this was no ordinary alliance, no run-of-the-mill friendship. This was a game, a battle of wills and desires, and Nanami was more than ready to play her part.

As Kei ventured through the school, her steps were measured and purposeful, but her thoughts were a whirlwind of considerations. She had bidden Ichika and Ezekiel farewell, leaving them both on good terms. The echoing conversations of her classmates and the unfamiliar surroundings faded into the background as her mind remained fixed on the one constant that had anchored her in this bewildering situation: Amelia.

With each corridor she navigated and each door she passed, Kei's internal monologue was a steady stream of introspection. Amelia's intentions, Amelia's strategies, Amelia's objectives – they were the guiding stars that illuminated her path. The bond they had formed so quickly held a unique power over Kei, tugging her strings like a marionette, propelling her toward actions that aligned with Amelia's plans.

As much as Kei had always believed in the strength of alliances, the intensity of her loyalty to Amelia surprised even her. But it made sense, didn't it? Amelia was the sun around which Kei revolved, casting light on the otherwise uncertain landscape of their predicament.

"Form alliances, gather information, stay cautious." Kei's mind echoed Amelia's instructions like a mantra, guiding her steps as she explored the dormitory section. The rooms stood like potential pockets of safety, each door a gateway to a temporary refuge, a place where alliances could be cultivated and strategies honed.

Yet, even as she mentally checked off the list of objectives, Kei couldn't shake the undercurrent of doubt that whispered in the recesses of her mind. Was her unquestioning dedication to Amelia blinding her to her own instincts, her own desires? She had always been the kind to be easily swayed by those she trusted, sometimes to her detriment.

As she arrived at a door marked with a room number, a picture of her, and what looked tlike the girl bothering Jiroi from earlier, Kei hesitated for a moment, her hand hovering before the handle. Her thoughts turned briefly inward, a flicker of self-awareness emerging amidst the tide of Amelia-centric considerations.

But just as quickly, she pushed those thoughts aside. There was no time for personal doubts. The mission at hand was far too important. Taking a deep breath, Kei turned the handle and stepped into her assigned dorm room, her heart a blend of trepidation and determination.

She wondered what her roommate was like.

Jirou's cheeks were ablaze, a deep and vivid shade of red that seemed to rival the intensity of a sunset. His heart raced like a runaway train, his chest tightening as he awkwardly extricated himself from the clutches of Airi, Kuraim, and Magnus. The trio's playful banter and physical proximity had left him flustered, his usually sharp wit rendered utterly useless in the face of their teasing.

"I'm going to go find my dorm," he stammered, his voice betraying his unease as he took a step back. His gaze darted around, unable to meet anyone's eyes directly, his embarrassment gnawing at him like an insistent itch.

Shouldering his tennis racket with a somewhat shaky hand, Jirou forced a small, strained smile, his eyes fixated on a random point on the floor as if it held all the answers to his predicament. With a mumbled farewell, he turned on his heel and began to walk away, his steps a tad more hurried than he'd have liked.

As he made his way through the hallways, his mind was a whirlwind of conflicting thoughts and emotions. Why did he always seem to find himself in these situations? And why did his body react the way it did? It wasn't like he was attracted to any of them, right? His internal monologue raged like a tempest, questioning his own reactions and analyzing the words and touches that had left him so flustered.

By the time he reached the door of his assigned dorm room, his cheeks still bore the fiery hue of embarrassment, a stark contrast to his usually composed demeanor. He let out a sigh of relief as he closed the door behind him (featuring a picture of him, and a hukan that was vaguely familiar), leaning against it and pinching the bridge of his nose as if trying to physically will away his mortification.

"Get a grip, Jirou," he muttered to himself, his voice tinged with frustration. He shook his head as if to clear his thoughts, then took a deep breath and scanned his new surroundings. The room was modest, but he'd seen worse during his travels with his parents.

With a determined set to his jaw, Jirou decided to focus on the one thing that had always provided him solace – tennis. As he began unpacking his belongings and arranging his tennis equipment, his thoughts slowly shifted from the embarrassing encounter to the sport that had always been his refuge. The rhythmic sound of his racket hitting a tennis ball against the wall became a soothing backdrop to his racing thoughts, providing a sense of normalcy in the midst of the chaos that had become his new reality.

"And where were you before twelve years ago?" Dee arched an eyebrow, a smirk playing on her lips.

Ruby was rather oblivious. She understood his reluctance to talk, but the guy was so depressed. He was emo, a shadow kinetic, he enjoyed killing people, and barely said a word. What. A. Vibe.

"Woke up from what, where?" She was very confused, and Ruby was doing a terrible job explaining. She smiled at the emo boy, turning her back on the sunset to face her companions.

Her eyes trailed over the grass behind them. She had made minute adjustments to try to make their path less trackable, but anyone with a brain and some bloodhounds would be able to find them if they were determined enough.

Nanami's lips curled into a playful grin as Hotaru responded, her demeanor a mix of charm and confidence. She welcomed the push, her arm looping through Hotaru's as she was drawn closer. Hotaru's warning only seemed to fan the flames of Nanami's determination, her own eyes gleaming with a daring spark.

"Well, my dear... sun," Nanami retorted with a wink, her tone teasing, "If you really pretend to be a creature of the light when we'll be having all our fun in the dark, I've always been one to enjoy a little heat. And as for challenges and games, a little wager never hurt anyone, don't you think?"

She would be just as happy losing as she would be winning.

As Hotaru spun around and announced her plans to retrieve some ramen, Nanami couldn't help but laugh at the abrupt change in mood. The mention of microwaveable ramen only added to the quirkiness of the situation, and Nanami found herself oddly charmed by Hotaru's unpredictable shifts between business and casualness.

"Ramen sounds perfect," she agreed, leaning in to press a quick, playfully teasing kiss on Hotaru's cheek before looping her arm more securely through Hotaru's. "Lead the way, my ever-entertaining sun. Perhaps you'll find an angel ready to follow, and I assure you, I've got a few tricks up my sleeve that might just... surprise you."

"Never heard of them. Meadows, mountains? What do you mean, that's where you're from? And woke up there?" Dee glanced over at Mona, trying to see if the other was as confused as she was. The Meadow place sounded as promising as anywhere else. Like it or not, they were on an adventure now. Dee was ready to do something cool.

The landscape was beautiful, and she gently slowed her pace, stuttering to a stop beneath the sunset.

"Wow."

"You know, Hotaru, I have a feeling that our rivalry could still be... mutually beneficial," she purred, her breath warm against Hotaru's skin. Her fingers trailed up to brush against the nape of Hotaru's neck, her touch deliberate and seductive. "After all, competition can be such a turn-on, don't you think?"

Her lips brushed against Hotaru's jawline, a slow and tantalizing caress that left a trail of fire in its wake. Nanami's fingers curled around a lock of Hotaru's hair, twirling it between her fingers as she continued to flirt unabashedly. "But who says we have to be enemies, darling? I'd much prefer to explore... other possibilities."

She leaned in even closer, her lips dangerously close to Hotaru's as her eyes bore into hers with an intensity that matched her words. "So, what do you say? Shall we put our rivalry to the test and see just how well we can play together?"

The bold declaration of her intentions left no room for misunderstandings. Nami wanted her fun, so she would have it, murder game be damned. She'd kill for some time alone with this girl, that was for sure.

"For starters, I've spent my entire life in the woods, and could literally race you to the other side of the continent. And secondly, god forbid I stay with the villagers we are supposedly saving." Dee scoffed. "Although it's nice to meet you, Ruby."

"Hi, Mona. Nice to meet you, finally. Where are we headed now?" She grimaced, stabbing another evil cookie who had swung at Mona. She would protect her newfound friends however they needed her to.

She turned to look at emo boy, crashing through the forest somewhere behind them.

"Y'all still with us?"

Nanami's heart accelerated as Hotaru's words washed over her, each syllable laced with a tantalizing promise of something more. The rhythm told her that she was alive. She was drawn in by the seductive trail of Hotaru's gaze, her body responding to the unspoken invitation that hung between them. The air was charged with an electric tension. A slow, knowing smile curled on Nanami's lips as she met Hotaru's gaze, her own eyes smoldering with an intensity that matched the fire in Hotaru's words.

"Darling, I must say, I'm quite intrigued by all that you can do," Nanami purred, her voice a velvety caress. "And while I may not be one to give in to temptation easily, I have a feeling that resisting you would be a futile endeavor."

She leaned in, their faces now only inches apart, their shared breaths mingling in the charged air between them. Nanami's fingers grazed Hotaru's hand, her touch feather-light but deliberate as she sent a clear message of reciprocity.

"Rest assured, my dear," Nanami whispered, her lips brushing against Hotaru's ear, "I have a knack for repaying favors in kind. And I believe in giving my all when it comes to striking a... mutually beneficial arrangement."

She had played it cool, enjoying this part immensely.

"Hmm. As appealing as that sounds, unless you were able to guarantee me full immunity and a place in the Dark Enchantress's ruling council, I'll pass." Dee smiled politely, really wanting to plant a dart write between the grey Cookie's eyes. But emo boy was already doing it first.

Man, he really didn't know how to share.

She grabbed the cottage cookie lady's arm, and along with the emo boy, followed her out of the acrid smoke and woods. That had been fun.

Not.

Killing was messy. In the quest to tie up loose ends, killing created more loose ends, making an already worn out tapestry continue to fray. Dee shook her head and continued to fight, bounding up a tree like a squirrel. From the treetops, she loaded dart after dart into her blowpipe, taking down enemies with alarming accuracy.

"I don't know. I thought it was a spur of the moment decision at first, that she found me amusing and curious. I am after all, a pet." Moon tugged at the collar around her neck, the word acting as a trugger. She physically could not remove it.

"Then I thought she had some grand purpose and she wanted me. Now, I don't know what to think." She sighed, unsure how to feel.

"Alright, now you're just entirely too persistent. If you want my attention, you have to play hard to get." She let go of emo boy to unsheathe one of her sais. A perfectly timed shadow gaze her the opening she needed.

Duck, roll, slash, twist, turn, and as Emmie recoiled, a single dart found its way into the side of her neck and she slumped to the ground, unconscious. "Sleep it off, girl."

Nanami couldn't help but be impressed by Hotaru's quick wit and the way she skillfully turned the conversation in her favor. It was clear that this girl was not one to be underestimated, and that only fueled Nanami's determination to win her over. As Hotaru's words flowed smoothly, Nanami leaned in a bit closer, her heart beating a bit faster at the proximity. This was turning into quite the game, and she was more than ready to play.

"You have quite the way with words," Nanami purred, her fingers gently brushing a strand of hair off of Hotaru's face. Her touch was soft, deliberate, her eyes locked onto Hotaru's as she continued to play their flirtatious game. "And you've certainly caught my attention, my dear."

"And as for your invitation," Nanami purred, her voice dropping to a sultry whisper, "I must say, I'm quite tempted to accept. After all, who could resist the charms of such a captivating businesswoman like yourself?" Her gaze flickered to Hotaru's lips for a brief moment before returning to her eyes, a suggestive smile playing on her own lips.

Inwardly, Nanami couldn't help but marvel at just how attractive Hotaru was. The way her hair framed her face, the spark of intelligence in her eyes, the confidence in her stance—it was all incredibly alluring. But she kept her wits about her. It took more than a pretty face to throw this girl off her game. It had only happened once before, anyway. But still, she could use a little fun, and Nanami was more than eager to explore just how far this flirtatious dance could go.

With shaking hands, Moon slotted the record on the player, carefully fitting the needle on the edge of the vinyl disk. He familiar cello began to play, and she smiled, sitting down next to Doctor Elodie.

"I do have another question. Do you know why... why did Bliss accept my offer that first day?" She put a hand to her cheek, self-conscious about her questions.

"Yeah, yeah. That's great. Let's go." Did NONE of these cookies understand the element of surprise? She lifted her blowgun to her lips in her other hand, aiming fast and true. The pressurized darts buried themselves in the necks and arms of nearby enemies. She paused only to direct a scared, huddling group of villagers towards the woods and safety.

She still pulled emo boy by the arm, further into the chaos. He hadn't even given her his name. How rude.

And then she could see Emmie over her shoulder. "Aww, darling, I'm really okay. Aren't there more important matters for you to be dealing with?"

Moon stared down at the strange disks. Records, she thought they were called. Her parents had owned a phonograph, often using it at the debutante balls they hosted. She picked one up at random, examining it. The Beetles's Eleanor Rigby stared up at her.

"Is this... Earthen music?" Where had Doctor Elodie gotten earth music from? The mysteries continued to pile up.
