Grey felt a strange sense of deja vu as he jumped from the plane, but that deja vu probablly came from the hundreds, no thousands of times that he had done this before. He was sick of it, and yet he loved it. A familiar routine that he could embrace more easily then the constant pain that he went through. He checked the straps, tighetened his guards, then jumped. The parachute slowed his fall. Just like always.

But as he went to take his posistion in battle, he heard the thud of boddies dropping. No. This wasn't supposed to happen. Not like this. Not all at once. "What the hell is going on?" he said aloud, but then, he felt a heavy arm grab him from behind. This was not okay. He immieadiently twisted the arm, causing it to cringe, and wrenched it away, taking a few thundering steps forward, but then the attacker grabbed his legs, causing him to fall flat on his face. He twisted around and only caught the glimpse of a mask before the clorophrom took over and he fell unconcious.

When he awoke, he was limp on the ground, and it took him only a minute to realize that he was tied up, the rope's fibers laced with mesh to keep him from moving too much. Then, he took note of his surroundings as he managed to sit up some. There were people..some he recgonized, some he didn't. "Guess I got reassigned," he joked weakly.

Grey was caught off guard by the knee, and mentally cursed himself for losing focus. Of course his enemy would be predicting this, why didn't he think ahead? Grey was getting soft, going against normally unprepared opponents. The knee caught him in the gut, and pushed him back. He stumbled and slipped, making an attempt at grabbing his leg. He wouldn't go down easy.

Grey sighed, and shook his head. "You don't seem curious. Eh, neither am I. Let's finish this." He attacked Jaxon again, this time he went for the other soldier's stomach. He was prepared, and his guard up, but maybe he would be able to catch him in a weak spot. Even if he stopped him, it was most likely the plates holding his arms together would buy him enough time for Grey to recover. His fist moved fast, as he used speed to his advantage.

"I know you, I do. I saw you...Do you remember me at all? Grey?" He didn't know what was going on. He didn't know what he was saying or doing. He was going with his gut, something he didn't often do. Maybe it would get him killed, but then again, many things would, this was no different. He didn't let down his guard, but he didn't advance. "Why did I see you? What memory was that?"

Grey moved to dodge, but before he could, the attack hit him squarely in the back. He fell forward onto one knee, a race of shock going through his body. That's when it all clicked, and a memory fell into place, rushing him back in time.

It was over, for the most part. That day's training had left Grey drained, having to up against a round of machine guns. It was a risky move, and a painful one. They had only protected his vital organs, leaving the looming threat of having a bullet rip through some part of him that wasn't protected. It wouldn't kill him, but it would surely hurt like hell. But what else could he expect from these people? They'd treated him like this for awhile. Grey vented his frustrations on the punching bag, pounding into it like it was the face of that obnoxious scientist, the man he especially hated. He'd manipulated him into this situation. Maybe one day he could get him back. He looked up to see Jaxon watching him from across the room, and laughed. "You'll get your turn eventually, I need this."

Grey pulled back, falling onto his back and rolling to the side, jumping up. His shoulders were heaving, and he stared with a new found shock at Jaxon. "Jaxon?!" he asked breathlessley. The name had come to him suddenly as he realized somehow, he knew this person. How?!

Grey was ready for this. The minute that Jaxon had threw down the gun, his fists curling and boot twisting as he leaned back. "Wish I could call you friend, but I'll surely show you what I can do." He leaned back on his foot, before running forward to close the space between them. Normally, he didn't deal with fights with someone who was fighting back in this way, but that didn't mean that he wasn't prepared for this. But when did he prepare for this? The lack of memories was getting to him hard, so he attacked fast, and hard.

Grey pushed through the enemy lines like a bulldozer. He was meant for war, always had been and always would be. Because it seemed, every day, that this was what he'd spend the rest of his miserable life doing. There would be no rest for him. With the lives that he'd taken, and no doubt what he'd done before his memories had dissapeared, he'd be burning in hell. The pain would never stop. Never cease. Not even after he died. He had, at one point, tried to love the pain, embrace it. But no matter how hard he tried, it was like a parasite that clung to his body.

He happened to come across Jaxon, as the pain from the metal in his gun and the tank, though exploded, spiked horribly. His gun was still there though, the metal calling to him. And so, he stood his ground, letting the voices take over as with an outstretched hand, he began to crumble the metal.

Tagger

Her comment reminded Tagger of a time a long time ago. When he was happy. A woman that he..had some kind of connection to had said something almost like that, and a flash of pain came across his face, quickly melting away. Tagger sighed, "All I can do is drown out the pain, after today I'll likely end up a bum on the streets, sent to another job that'll kill me. Might as well enjoy my last few weeks alive in the way I always have."

Jade

Jade clicked her tongue knowingly. She'd seen this type before. Hopeless, despondent, and wanting to die more than anything. She'd been able to convince quite a few of them to get back on their feet, maybe this time it would work as well. Wouldn't hurt to try, would it? So she took Tagger to the bar, saying, "I think we'll start off with a water," going to get it.

Onix

Onix was going to work at the beast.

But then

There was an deafening earthquake that sent the beast and Onix flying, slamming against the ground with a grunt.

Jade

"Cass, pretty name," she said, handing her the drink. She looked up as well when she saw the man. At first, she was about to take his order as she always did, but Cass's comment made her think twice, so she jumped over the counter in a smooth leap, an exercise she'd done many times. She ran to Tagger, supporting his weight. He stiffened, but allowed her to help him to the bar.

Tagger's leg was flaming up with pain, but he ignored it. All he needed was a drink. He heard Cass's question and laughed hoarsely. "Nothing a few cold beers won't drown out. Works like a charm." He didn't want to be pitied. But he didn't exactly resist when the young barkeeper went to help him. He was too tired to fight back.

Onix chuckled.

They liked this one.

They hadn't laughed in awhile.

And..something in them yearned for human contac, though they had long since abandoned any hope of humanity.

"Good luck out there, Stranger."

Onix

Onix perched on top of the beast, sawing away.

The stranger was leaving.

Onix paused.

They didn't see others that much.

So they were curious.

They asked, at the last minute, "Do you have a name?"

Tagger

Tagger kept working, and quickly, was told to take the rest of the day off. It was clear that he was hurting badly, and that Tagger would not be doing anything useful. His face burned red with humiliation as he limped off. Something, in the back of his mind told him that this would be a permanent injury, but he pushed it down. He couldn't lose this job. He had no family, and no where else to go. He had a dry thought that maybe he could take his chances aboveground, but that was a death sentence. No one survived up there. "I need a drink," he announced to no one, limping into the tavern.

Jade

Jade gave her a wink and a crooked grin. "Nothing to it." She went behind the counter to pour Cass a drink. She looked over her shoulder, "You got a name, New Girl?"

Onix held up a finger to silence him, looking back over their shoulder.

"Quiet. It's here." They crouched, then took off. Something was lumbering closer. It crashed through the underbrush, a roaring white beast with horns that tore through evreything.

Onix ran straight for the beast, but at the last minute, jumped up and onto its back.

They grabbed onto its horns, pulling its head up at a painful angle.

With a long weapon somewhere between a rapier and a dagger, they slit its throat, causing it to collaspe, sliding forward a few feet before dying.

Onix stared at it, before jumping off and wiping the blood from their weapon and sheathing it. "Now, if you are on your way through,"

"Continue and leave."

"You must be new here," she said without missing a beat, a slight smile on her lips. "And don't worry, I understand, we all get like that sometimes. Why don't you take a seat at the bar? There's some..less then friendly people here, y'know?" Jade looked around at the crowd as she guided Cass to a seat, like she saw things in a completley new outlook. This tavern may be friendly, but it was far from the most reputable place.

Onix sighed, clasping their hands behind their back as they stalked closer. "There's plenty of space, and I did mark it. The red claw marks on those rocks? Mine. On the trees? Mine." They kept getting closer. "So leave. Now."

Jade stepped down from the stage. As much as she would have liked to stay up there, veiwing it all like a queen seeing her kingdom (what she sometimes considered the tavern to be), she had customers to serve. Her ears perked up as she heard the sounds of a new customer. She sashayed over, but stopped, eyebrow raised. "Huh," She muttered, and shrugged. A man was leering at poor Cassandra, yelling, "You're a preety thing, so young to be in a bar! How-" Jade put a hand on his shoulder. "Marcus," she cooed, "Don't forget who's selling the drinks around here." Marcus saw a dozen dirty glares, and he shut up with a growl. Satisfied, Jade turned to Cass. "Forgive him, he's drunk. So, what'll it be?"

---

Onix saw him.

They had to move quickly.

Before the beast was scared off, wherever it might be

Or this one took their turf.

They leapt through the air with a graceful somersault, landing with a thud. "You shouldn't be here, "was all they said.

Grey was almost there. He was getting closer and closer to the base. His leg seemed to be on fire, though only slightly more than usual. He kept crawling, his fingers digging through the dirt, until-

He took the backpack, shouldering the straps and checking each one to make sure it was secure. He looked down, and immieadiently regretted it. The sounds of the battle were competing with the screams in his head, ripping his brain Grey was no amatuear, he knew what he was doing. But for some reason, he paused slightly before jumping off. He shook his head. The nerves were getting to him again. He jumped, and at the right moment, he released the parachute, letting it bloom out behind him as he went. He landed easily, checking his arm guards. They were his Old Faithfuls, the guards that had lead him to victory and kept the metal in his fists from shifting. He could trust them and them alone. A young, naive soldier near him looked up with confusion as he crouched. "Why don't you have a weapon?!" Despite himself, before sprinting off, he yelled back with a pained grin, "Son, I am the weapon!"

The year is 3044 AD

And evreything is gone

Humanity is done for, it has wasted all its recources and wars, disease, famine, bombs, all of it has lead to this horrible wasteland. It seems that there is no hope. So the last of humanity has fled to the underground, in a desperate hope for survival known as the Novissima Colonia.

The Last Colony.

They have used this chance well, over the years since the last group fled, things have changed. The underground colony has grown and adapted, not only enviormentally but psychically as well. The group of 300 people know that only the strong survive, and no one goes without working. No one has time for bigotry or hate. No one has time to argue. The only thing they do is survive, and to survive one must cooperate. All seems well, and some people hope that things have progresed so far that we can maybe, maybe return to the surface. But the leaders insist they stay. And so they keep their quiet thoughts to themselves, praying for a future aboveground, no matter how good this one might be.

Unfourtanetly for the Novissima Colonia, things are about to get messy. There are rumors that on the outer stretches of the colony, people are missing. Things are being stolen or ripped apart. Your leaders will call it talk and fantasies, but maybe there is more to this. And so, when the secret call comes for those who wish to pursue that hope of a future aboveground to meet, or at least find out the truth, you might just consider it...

Above ground, there are a select few who have made it through evreything, too stubborn to let go of the homes they have built above ground. And so, you survive, and you do it just as well as the Novissima Colonia, maybe even better. But you hear strange rumblings under your feet, and unexplained earthquakes, would it be so bad to discuss what's happenning and maybe go down to find out?

Welcome to the Underground, may the best ones win.
- - -

In the Underground, things are running as usual: Evreyone has a job, and they're doing it, no questions asked. Because that's what you have to if things will work. Though, that doesn't mean that there isn't chance for entertainment. A large tavern is bustling with life and people, those who have been allowed a rest and a drink. A girl with red rimmed eyes and long black braids is serving drinks. She looks a little young to be working at a place like this, but she seems capable of handling herself. When anyone, man or woman tries to push their boundaries, they'll find an icy glare and a dagger inches from their hand or face. The table and walls are filled with cuts from these knives. There is a boy working hard at the storehouses, who nurses a hurt leg for reasons he refuses to tell.

Aboveground, evreything is wild and dangerous. There is a low cover of gasses, evreything is withered and dead. There is low grumbles that no one can identify. A teenager balances on a huge rock formation, a gas mask covering their mouth and a hood over their head as they survey the area.

Jade
The tavern is noisy. So noisy. But she has learned to get used to it, as one does. The drinks slip so easily from the spouts to the glasses, a song and dance she has come to learn and love. Jade's greateful for the oppurtunity to have a job like this, and not one with grueling work out there in the rest of the Underground. Even if she has to deal with nasty creeps and drunkards. Her skirt swishes, an unadible noise as she climbs the steps to the platform where the organ player pounds away at the keys. She sets the drink on top of the organ, and gives him a wink as he nods in thanks.

Tagger
Why, of all places, did he have to work in food storage? His leg was killing him, a dead weight that seemed to radiate pain as he dragged barrels and boxes. The air in the room seemed thick and heavy, and the heat was making him tired. But Tagger had been doing this since he was a child, he was no complainer. All that he had to do was keep going. Tagger knew the price of weakness. So, he continued to ignore the pain. His supervisor noticed, and the woman sighed. "Tagger, take a break outside." "But-" "No buts!" He sighed, and limped outside, sitting down.

Onix
Onix was watching.

There was food nearby.

They knew it.

A mutated monster would come.

And they would be ready.

And waiting.

They shifted positions, making no nosie.

Xena laughed. "Slow down, slow down. That will all come in time. The one thing I'd like to know now is...What is your weakness?" Agria let out a suprised huff, and Xena chuckled again. "That's right, your weakness. Don't know why you're much suprsied, it's a vital thing to erase. Agria had to give it a moment's thought. What...what was her weakness? She had fears, she had horrors, but..a true weakness? After a minute, she tapped it out, and Xena nodded. "Understood." She was about to speak again, but suddnely started. "Oh my, it apears we are here. Time for the Capitol's first trial-Your enterance!" Agria's face paled, but Xena clasped her hands behind her head. "Welcome to the belly of the beast-The Capitol of Panem."

The stylists that took Agria were chatty, and almost seemed glad that she couldn't speak. They poked and prodded her, causing the dark thoughts to come back, and shutting her down. She didn't move on her own, and at one point, it became difficult for them to work, and one of them grabbed her by the face exasperatedly, saying, "You impertanent child!" At once, the room became the orphanage, and the stylist became Auntie, and Agria began to cry, shoulders shaking.

The head stylist burst into the room, a black woman with braids in her hair. "This is outrageous! Completley wasting time, off-" She noticed Agria's crying and pushed past the other stylists, taking her by the arm. "Agria, it's alright, it's alright." Agria's dark thoughts were surrounding her, and she couldn't stop crying. The stylist hugged her, and after a minute, she realized where she was. She took a few shuddered breaths, and the woman said, "There there, that's right. Calm down." When she could, the stylist smiled. "There we go! Isn't that better?" She used the sleeve of her white dress to wipe away Agria's tears. "I'm going to be handling your dress and such, my name is Eva." She was gentle with Agria, much more than the others, taking her time to do her best.

The dress she chose was a short one, light blue with a spray of white across it, like sea foam. It had puffy sleeves made of a material that shimmered. Her hair had been curled, and there was a light powder of blue makeup on her eyelids, not much else. As Eva had told her, "You're a beautiful girl, just the way you are." She stepped out of the dressing room, one hand lifted to her face like it was a foreign object.
