only use them when you want to emphasis on a part / separate parts that have similar colours with each other. Theyre also used to prevent the art from looking too clustered !

heres one example in here its used to separate some parts and make them not look like theyre stuck together
this example emphasis on the eye and to seperate the hair from the dress because they have same colours

i love your shading and your lines are goals tbh
but then, i got one critique for you! (if you do not want it please let me know so i will remove it)
maybe try reducing the white lines a little? It looks too excessive imo :"D
