♥️ Nagisa Aoki's POV ♥️

So, Nagisa was trapped on a peculiar island. With no idea of how he got here. He noticed some people seemed to be setting up their tents, while others seemed to be engaged in conversation. And as for others still... Probably out exploring. But Nagisa was a little worried about whoever might have gone out alone.

Who knew what sort of dangers might lurk on the island? Then, just as she was about to check if all was okay suddenly, that person came back. The tenseness in her shoulders released, and Nagisa smiled at them.

"That's wonderful! I could help you serve it, if you'd like!" she offered, clapping his hands together. It was actually kind of nice, being on this island with a bunch of strangers. One of the people here seemed concerned that it would turn into some sort of bloodbath but... What did some book about some traitorous boys crashing a plane onto a pig-infested island know? In the real story, they turned out alright.

Being at a camp like this... Reminded Nagisa of that one time that he volunteered as a camp counselor. And he was determined to help wherever he could.

After all... What could possibly go wrong?

Amelia Rivera's POV

"Very likely so. Doesn’t seem like it’d be anything else. Hey- you wanna see something cool? Quite clever, don’t you think?”

It was indeed quite clever. Amelia wasn't sure whether to be impressed at the hacker's skills, or wary of them. Needless to say, she would probably be far better to make an ally than an enemy.

“Nice to meet you, Ultimate Astronomer. Tell me more about your talent! D’you explore the stars? Chart astronomy maps?”

Amelia made sure to prepare before she had said it to keep her calm. To not give any indication of offness. At least, not the kind of offness that would get you called out as a liar.

She pretended to collect her thoughts. When, really, she was recalling any information that might help her.

"I study them from afar," she replied simply. "Learn all I can about them. Why they function the way they do, how some of them might have come to be… it's all very fascinating."

“Obviously. Accuracy is key when it comes to computers and AI. One wrong letter or pattern in the code and your whole system fails- or goes haywire. Just like gene mutations. You know, mismatches and all that stuff.”

She nodded. "Accuracy is key in my work as well. You have to be very exact with it all. Sometimes you doubt yourself, and you wonder if… maybe things are different than they seem. I guess that's how it is with people, too, sometimes…" she trailed off after that comment.

She paused, drawing a breath. “I must admit though, you don’t seem like a starchaser. But then again I suppose I don’t seem much like a hacker, if I didn’t have Bubbles constantly floating around me. I s’pose it’s just a matter of appearances. Can’t judge someone based on looks after all.”

Don't look much like a starchaser. Ah. But then again, did she look much like a voodoo practitioner either, she couldn't help but wonder. She looked at Wei En thoughtfully.

"People just look like people, really. It's their behavior that matters. Just like when it comes to all those different galaxies." She pretended to reminisce about something. "The light, the distance they travel across the expanse… it's only when you get a close look at them. After a while. That you truly know them."

Amelia felt more like she was talking about people. Human beings often revealed themselves to be disgusting creatures. You'd think someone was a friend, or wanted to be your friend, and then–

No. The thought was foolish. She was foolish. And so was Kei. Amelia didn't know why the girl had entered her mind. Was it because of that sheer naivety she seemed to possess, that had reminded Amelia so much of herself, when she was young? When she didn't realize the right way to do things?

Studying. Toiling away. On her knees, up in that cold, dark and creaky attic. Flipping through pages, deeply fascinated by them. Not fully understanding the words, and yet proceeding to mumble at first growing into chants.

Her granddad never liked it when she was up there. Sometimes he used to-

The past was unimportant. Amelia rose back up into reality, feeling a certain urge to reach for a thread. She wanted to pull on it, and pull, and pull, until she reached the end. But what lay at the end of it was the question…

"My apologies. Got a little lost in thought there. It happens sometimes." She smiled slightly in a way that was probably supposed to be reassuring, but had this strangely stiff and insincere feeling to it. "Quite the remarkable creation you have there."

She couldn't help the additional comment. Bubbles had almost been as though Wei En had created life. And the idea greatly intrigued her.

I wonder if Bubbles really is alive. Maybe Wei En doesn't even know for sure.

It's not like there was any particular way to find out. But a curious thought occurred to Amelia. What differentiates an artificial intelligence from a human being, especially if there is no humanity left?

She shook the thought away. It was unimportant.

"I was thinking it would be wise to explore this school. After we all got acquainted. We could then have a fuller idea of our circumstances, perhaps."

She was curious how Wei En felt about the matter. She had seemingly made it pretty clear she thought they all weren't going to get out of there alive, except in a best-case scenario. Frankly, Amelia agreed with that, but she wasn't going to immediately prepare for the worst until there was evidence that there was adequate reason to believe that.

It was… interesting, what this whole business did to people. The two people she had met thus far, at least, if they were what they appeared to be, seemed like a couple of possible optimists. And yet, they both immediately jumped to the idea that they might not all get out of there alive. And Amelia, herself, was definitely not an optimist, but she didn't immediately believe they would all die there.

She wouldn't deny the possibility was there. However, she didn't have enough information yet to determine how this would all play out.

Once she did…

If push came to shove, maybe one of the students would mysteriously choke to death. Or perhaps, find themself stabbed until they bled out.

And Amelia Rivera, in either case, would be the one who spiked the glass, or... held the knife.

♥️ Nagisa Aoki's POV ♥️

"Mafia? Werewolf? I don't think so. The closest thing I've heard of is some ancient ritual done by those demon-divine creature things you talked about earlier called Ōmagatoki. I think they were used by those creatures to grow stronger through the powerful emotions that you humans release in those situations?"

Nagisa nervously twisted a lock of hair around his finger (a habit I need to stop projecting onto all my characters). "O-Oh! My, that's... Very interesting!" She cupped her hands together and gave the water empress a smile. "How did they do that, exactly? Ah! If you don't mind me asking, I was just wondering. I wouldn't want to be a bother, after all..." He said the last part very quietly.

But a moment later, he got his answer, and said no more on the subject.

Boats?...

Nagisa actually couldn't recall how she got here, or why he was supposed to be here. But regardless of what the situation was, he was determined to help! He decided not to comment on the fact she wasn't too sure if she used a boat to get here or not, after all, if it wasn't important for everyone else, he shouldn't bring it up.

She was very fascinated to hear all this information about magical powers. It seemed unheard of to him, although he'd never particularly believed that magic absolutely didn't exist either.

(Cough little disclaimer if anything I post contradicts any lore or anything I'm supposed to do I'm sorry I'll edit it, I apologize for any inconvenience)

"How very interesting! I'm not hungry, but... Are any of you?" Nagisa turned to look at her companions. "I could maybe prepare something, if you'd like!"

♥️ Nagisa Aoki's POV ♥️

A poor confused soul was summoned onto the island with no idea as to how she got here. His last memories involved something regarding a forcibly induced closing of her windpipe, and this horrific realization that she had... Failed.... Someone?...

Nagisa Aoki straightened out his hair and retied the bows upon her head, which, were a mess, for some reason or other. He was on some kind of island. It seemed nice here! Nice and calm, he wondered what the people were like... He must introduce himself! But...

It seemed she was forgetting something. Something important. Something she couldn't quite recall for some reason.

"Ah! Hello there!" Nagisa spotted someone nearby, and immediately (did that slight formal skirt lifty thingy I have no idea what that is this looked cooler in my head) with his fingers, doing a little bow. "My name is Nagisa Aoki, and I... I have no idea what's going on here. Could someone please explain? What are we all doing here? You've... Been here before?"

He was intrigued at the thought, but, puzzled nonetheless. She had no recollection of how she arrived here, and there was this aching throbbing of his head.

Nagisa looked sympathetically over at the person who was confused, offering a smile of encouragement.

"It's alright, I have no idea what we're doing here either. I'm not sure if any of us do."

𝙿𝚎𝚛𝚜𝚘𝚗𝚊𝚕𝚒𝚝𝚢 | 𝙻𝚒𝚔𝚎𝚜 𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝙳𝚒𝚜𝚕𝚒𝚔𝚎𝚜 - Nagisa Aoki is a deeply kind, devoted, and caring person, perhaps too caring for his own good. In fact, this person takes care of others so much she often forgets himself, and has a lot of issues that arise from it, including an extreme difficulty to say no to people, excessively helping even when she can't afford to, and often crashing to the point of burnout. He also has major issues with trusting people when she shouldn't, and believing in others to a fault. Nagisa is, in short, the definition of what happens when a person is too helpful. Who knows just how badly this could go wrong in a little game of Mafia?...

Personality Type: ENFJ (Fe-Ni-Se-Ti) 9w1 so/sx 927 SCOAI Sanguine-Phlegmatic FELV

Likes: Making other people happy, various types of birds, writing letters, baking, gardening, various types of cakes Dislikes: Conflict, rudeness, being asked what she wants for a change because there is a lot of pressure when that happens to STILL choose something everyone else is okay with

𝙰𝚙𝚙𝚎𝚊𝚛𝚊𝚗𝚌𝚎 - (I'm not going with Nagisa's original appearance in Game of Wits because let's be honest mostly the hair needs to be changed so)
Nagisa Aoki is a rather fair-skinned person who is small in stature (standing at 4'10"), with light blond hair and bright blue eyes. For whatever reason his face always seems naturally flushed, possibly because she's just an easily flustered person. He has rather semi-long hair (although it really depends on what perspective you look at it from) that she typically ties into a ponytail or into braids, depending on whatever seems practical at the time. He also wears colorful bows upon his head and is typically dressed in a maid's uniform with a vest overtop of it, although sometimes she may be dressed in something else, he always seems to dress in a rather formal manner. There are no otherwise noteworthy details upon his face other than the neatly trimmed bangs or the small mole upon it. I need to go more into detail but I'll finish this in the morning, probably skdbsksb

𝙱𝚊𝚌𝚔𝚜𝚝𝚘𝚛𝚢 - Nagisa was raised into a life where she was taught kindness to an absolutely extreme degree. He was taught to give to others even when he had almost nothing to give, that no matter how hard things were, you always had to make time for other people. From a young age, she became so very used to it, whether it be charities, doing volunteer work, doing odd jobs, tutoring other students, no matter what it was, Nagisa did it all. In the process, though, his parents led Nagisa to feel like he and his wishes and feelings were unimportant, which she continued to believe all throughout her life. This crushed Nagisa's self-esteem, but she kept on numbing herself to the pain, continuing to just believe that no matter what he was feeling, it wasn't important. Those around her even started to forget she was human too, to the point that even those who occasionally tried to check on him just thought she was invincible. Nagisa has kept on living like this his whole life, the poor soul, who, like The Giving Tree, keeps on giving, while others keep on taking, and eventually, someone might just come bearing the axe, and he'll finally break in a way that she can't pick herself up from.

𝚁𝚎𝚏𝚎𝚛𝚎𝚗𝚌𝚎 𝙸𝚖𝚊𝚐𝚎 (𝙾𝚙𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗𝚊𝚕) - Maybe I'll put this here tomorrow eirhskns

Amelia Rivera's POV

“Yayyyyyy! I’m so glad you like it! Ehe~ Isn’t that great, Bubbles?”

Amelia would have rolled her eyes a little at the girl's excitement, but her face was too controlled for that. She almost laughed but her face merely gave a slight jolt, possibly hinting at a bit of a reaction but not fully committing to one either.

“Maybe. Maybe not. That bear is cutely terrifying though, I must say. And if we’re here, then someone must have caused it, naturally. Ohh..right. One of us is a traitor! Yeahhhhhhhh! But if we stick together thennnnn that should minimise the chances of dying. Then again…we haven’t scoped out the compound yet. Hmmm…would the MVS model be best suited for that…or”

At the mention of the bear, Amelia perked up a little. "The bear... Would you say it's another robot? I thought it might be, but..."

She trailed off into silence ever suddenly as the girl reached into her pockets.

"Oh. Sorry Amelia…now let’s see… Wei En. That’s Nightrekra, in case you were wondering. Say, you’re pretty cool yourself, eh? You don’t speak much, you just think a lot. Hey. I haven’t told ya my talent yet, have I? Well. I’m the Ultimate Hacker. Nice to meet you.”

Wei En was certainly excitable. Amelia again didn't know whether she liked that or not. Kei Oshima had at least heavily given off the impression that she would never kill anyone, but, this person, as well as everyone else, would remain to be seen.

Yes, there was most likely a traitor among them. It would make sense that the person behind this, or, one of the people behind this, would lurk somewhere within the school in order to carry out their plans.

But Amelia felt a bit cautious around her. Wei En would be wise to have as an ally, a friend, rather than an enemy. She seemed all too casual about the Killing Game, so Amelia wouldn't be surprised if she turned out a killer. She had this sort of charismatic, flipfloppy air about her, a wild card sort of air, that reminded Amelia of the salesperson.

"Well. Pleasure to make your acquaintance. And you too, Nightrekra."

Something nagged at her. Wei En was a hacker. Interesting. That could prove useful in killing someone, possibly, or maybe fleeing the school. Or... Who was to say Wei En wasn't behind all this? Amelia was only supposing for now.

She knew her talent might make people uneasy should she reveal it. So she decided to come up with a lie that might sound convincing, given her starry attire, general distance from people, and thinking far more than speaking.

"Ultimate Hacker? How interesting. I'm the Ultimate Astronomer. I prefer to view life from afar, just like I do in my work. I apologize if it bothers you."

She blinked and stared at the scroll that had fallen on her foot earlier. "Oh! No, that's alright. You seem quite thorough in what you do, Wei En."

She was unsure whether to shake her hand, shake the robot's hand, or neither. One thing was for sure, Wei En didn't seem like someone she wanted to make an enemy of.

As for Nightrekra... Well, she scarcely knew anything about her. She'd gone quiet. Was she uncomfortable?

It's about to get very uncomfortable here. Very, very uncomfortable.

Amelia Rivera's POV

“Ooh ooh ooh. Newcomer! Hello, uh…Amelia? Yeah? That’s your name, right? Well, this here is a robot. Their name is Bubbles, and they are my robot companion, helper, manager, ehhhhh whatever ya wanna call them. They do a lot of things for me. I made it. I had several more models before them, but I eventually decided on this one. Supercool, eh?”

This person was even more energetic than Kei was, having a rather sporadic and passionate energy that Amelia was unsure what to make of at first. She had to admit though, the robot was interesting.

She nodded, admiring the metallic creature's movements. It was almost like a sort of pet. What fascinated Amelia most was that this had probably been done merely out of mechanical parts, no outside assistance of a ritual whatsoever. At least... As far as she knew. Was Bubbles alive?

"Yes. That's correct. Your companion is most fascinating."

If I were to cut it, would it bleed?

Robots, like humans, could be damaged by weaponry. She wondered if it had a defense system.

“See. Latest model MVS-5296.83. Equipped with high tech sensors, x-ray vision, heat maps and a bunch of other things. Runs on the latest AI module I programmed. Intellectual capabilities through the roof, IQ of 230. The model’s named after Marilyn Vos Savant. Wouldn’t call her a sentient being, but she can definitely hold a decent conservation with you. Or at least better than Mr Grumpy Swear-Mouth over there. Cool, right? Yeah??”

She nodded. "Yes. Very cool." Her voice still maintained its level tone, but there was a spark of interest upon her face. Quite a lot of abilities this robot possessed, if its creator was telling the truth. It could very easily prevent -- or cause -- a murder. Or perhaps its creator wanted others to think they'd have no chance at killing them. Either way, this was a clever invention. Not only was it deeply fascinating but very useful and practical.

"Killing Game? Eh. Potato, tomato, game’s just a game. You die if you die. It’s very upsetting, but I don’t see how we can get out of this situation anyways. Might as well just play along. Best case scenario we all get out alive.”

Amelia shrugged. "There might be a way out of it. A lot remains to be seen here." It was a curious matter, how casual this girl seemed about the whole thing. Her companion (no, not the robot) seemed deeply uncomfortable.

Personally, Amelia had a feeling someone was going to act out, and take the life of someone else here. Heck, it might even be her. But there was no point in approaching it with a mind of defeatism rather than rationality. The game had barely started, and they weren't even close to checkmate.

"It's a pleasure to meet you and your friend Bubbles, Miss...?" she queried, reaching for an answer.

She couldn't help but absentmindedly look in her other companion's direction. They had seemed stiff and uncomfortable at the idea of the Killing Game situation. How very, very interesting.

Amelia Rivera's POV

Amelia almost hesitated to walk away. Had she imagined it, or... Had she sensed Kei may have been a little hurt by what she had said? Or something she had done?

Oh, why would it even matter? Right?

She focused her thoughts on acquiring more new alliances in this place. Scanning the room, she noticed two people (Wei En and Nightrekra, for the reader's sake) were conversing. She wondered if she should possibly approach the person who didn't seem to care that there was a Killing Game going on, but... He didn't seem like a good option.

(* and as for Amaya, sorry Serend, you're not on right now and Amelia is kinda focusing on something else at the moment so that'll have to happen a bit later)

But could she really approach them? Interrupting a conversation was one way to piss someone off. Sure, maybe not enough for them to commit murder, but... Unlike her, some people trusted first impressions a lot more. And some might even kill someone for the smallest of reasons. There were some risks you just wouldn't take.

Still... Well, she had to start somewhere. Very quietly, she made her way over to where the two people were talking, staying a small distance away. Then again, this could be taken as eavesdropping. She paused a moment, unsure of how to begin.

"Greetings. This is an interesting--" She cut herself off unnaturally. She was staring at the robot. How long had that been there?

"-- interesting situation we have going on here," she finished. She gazed at the robot, further, in silence, for a few minutes. "Huh... Did one of you make this?"

What was it? She had to focus on the objective but... This thing, it was a robot, wasn't it? It was so remarkably fascinating.

It was almost like making life out of nothingness... wasn't it?

Amelia Rivera's POV

Amelia noticed the difference in Kei's tone. It seemed that Amelia had helped her to enter a new mindset. The right mindset for a Killing Game. She couldn't help but wonder why she was doing this, she could of course just leave her to flounder. But of course, trust was important to maintaining this alliance.

Besides, it did fulfill the objective of "don't tick anyone off". She just hoped she wouldn't wind up saying or doing anything she'd regret because of this. She wasn't sure how she felt about Kei, exactly. She seemed pretty trustworthy to her, but... what if it was all an act? She'd have to still be careful.

The whole "nice girl" thing could certainly be an act.

"I tend to be a bit too excessive, don't I? Guess I got carried away again."

When she saw the look upon Kei Oshima's face, Amelia felt a melancholic pang within her, like a sad, musical chord that had just been unexpectedly struck. This girl seemed so unsure of herself, and so kind, so genuine. But she kept telling herself, it could be an act, it could be an act. She had to be prepared for a turn for the worse at any moment.

That was... how people were. You could only truly walk the world alone, without taking any risks. It was the best way for things to be, the path of least mistakes, least regrets.

She stared intently at Kei, her breathing very scarce and almost silent as she did so. Her eyes seeming to pass right through her.

"You do. Somewhat. But it's not inherently a bad thing."

Amelia was feeling slightly uncomfortable now. She was wasting time at this point, continuing to converse with this girl would only make her a target. And possibly Kei as well. If that mattered.

An uneasy silence hung for a few minutes before Amelia finally spoke.

"I think we should... converse with our other classmates now."

She didn't want to get too close to this girl. She was giving her mixed feelings, and probably none of them would turn out to be a good thing.

Amelia Rivera's POV

Of course she was right. And yet it was still somehow reassuring for Kei to say so. They had to make sure the situation was actually as bad as it seemed before jumping to doomed conclusions. Although, frankly, Amelia was expecting somebody to turn and kill one of their fellow classmates. I mean, realistically, it made sense!

The people here were Ultimates, masters of their class, all apparently brought here with the sole purpose of... Huh. That was interesting. Why was this purge happening? Could it be that someone was seeking to sabotage the future of society, by getting all the talented people to turn upon one another? Could it be that someone was seeking some sort of revenge? Was it all just some kind of experiment? It could be one of, or more of these reasons, or something Amelia could not yet fathom.

But something lit up in Amelia's eyes, if only slightly, upon hearing Kei mention that the person who was behind this may have been thorough in their approach.

"I was thinking that, actually. We have no idea who is behind this. And for all we know, they could slip up."

Amelia Rivera found herself... Concerned, however, at how open Kei seemed with someone who was almost a stranger. Barely an acquaintance. She was actually having many of these same thoughts on the situation, and, yet, the fact Kei was so open with these thoughts was a vulnerability.

She sighed. "It's alright, I get it. However, I thought I should warn you... Try not to share too many of your thoughts out loud. At least not with everyone. Someone might try to exploit you for it."

She then wondered if she had gone too far in saying this, and told Kei, "However, you seem to have observed quite a good deal about our situation. I think that like you said, it's important to form alliances. It might be ideal for us to branch out to... at least two or three more people. Being alone is the most foolish thing someone can do in these circumstances."

Grouping together, not ticking anyone off, revealing no particular vulnerabilities, and keeping a cool and level head. These were the most important parts of this situation, and Amelia quietly reached into her bag to carefully write these things down upon her notepad, before slipping it back into her bag.

She had had an off feeling about this place from the start, though she hadn't thought she'd walk into a Killing Game.

For a moment, she almost felt a little guilty. Kei at the very least heavily seemed to be what she appeared as. And here Amelia was, wondering whether she should try to just survive, or, take the life of someone else here.

She found it particularly fascinating that as open as Kei seemed, she had not yet disclosed her talent. Amelia wasn't so sure about asking her what it was, as, if she revealed her own, Kei might be disturbed and any potential trust might be broken. But, if she was found out to be lying about her talent, that might be even worse.

Amelia decided just not to act in that regard for now, until she was sure of what to do.

"I suggest that we introduce ourselves to other students. We can form alliances with them. Then, we should explore this building to understand the full extent of our predicament."

And maybe... To figure out who may prove to make a good target.

The timid one, who had run off from the others, to try to defend themself, was foolishly isolating themself. Getting fearful from the start would affect their rationale, although it might also ready them too much to any threat. Calming them down and killing them might be the best option.

Because anyone who didn't act carefully in this situation would probably get themselves killed. And the killer among them might find someone's death a small price to pay for freedom.

And Amelia was interested to see who would break first.

Amelia Rivera's POV

It was a curious thing, to hear just how dismal Kei was about their whole situation. Here she was, presenting herself as someone who saw humanity in such an overidealized light, and yet she was pessimistic about the situation. Amelia almost wondered if the best thing someone could do for such a person was to put her out of her misery.

It seemed contradictory to her behavior earlier, to be so sure that the only way out was to kill or be killed. Could her earlier personality have been a facade, or was this merely another brief glimpse of her that Amelia had not yet seen? It was too early to tell.

Speaking of too early to tell... Amelia was not an optimistic person, but she saw no reason in giving in to the notion that they wouldn't be able to make it out without killing or being killed. It would all depend on how thorough the person or people behind this whole thing had been.

She smiled again for a swift second before immediately stifling the expression as Kei said she appreciated her words. She was not used to hearing such a thing.

Amelia immediately internally scolded herself at the thought. If this girl flattered her too much, she might let her guard down, say something she shouldn't, and then where would she be?

"We can't be sure of that. I heard someone mention we could wait for help. We also have not yet looked for potential exits." She paused thoughtfully. "The question is of how thorough the people behind this are. I think we should properly assess the full scale of the situation before assuming death to be the only option."

It's certainly not the only option, but, oh, it could be an option for sure.

Amelia actually found herself wondering. Who here would make the best victim if a killer had to choose? It was a difficult and rather interesting question, as there were a lot of factors.

Well, anyone could be, if the circumstances were right.

...couldn't they?

Amelia Rivera's POV

Amelia was startled at all that Kei had said. So startled that she half-flinched, an unusual amount of movement for her. Was she really revealing this much about herself to Amelia, who was, to Kei, a complete stranger? Either she was absurdly naïve and possibly incredibly stupid, or she was an insanely good actor.

Then again... What would Kei have to lose by answering her like this? Perhaps it was a tactic to try to get herself spared, maybe make everyone see how "good" and "moral" and "kind" she was. Or to become a killer herself, pull that classic act where you make no one suspect, where everyone thinks that it couldn't possibly be them, oh, no! Not Kei Oshima! She would never kill anyone!

But Amelia felt like Kei was telling the truth, somehow, and she almost pitied her. Maybe she was someone, who, too, was cast aside by the world. Maybe she spoke so much out of a desperation for someone to listen, while Amelia had done everything she could to remain unnoticed, except when it benefited her not to.

...

Amelia Rivera was always thought to others as very weird. Her parents, always very distant, but that suited her just fine. She learned to get by on her own, to avoid standing out, except when it really mattered. And if anyone ever got in your way, you worked out vengeance from afar.

But this girl, Kei Oshima, seemed so genuinely kind, so truly naïve, probably still believing in the good of everyone here. And if she was as she seemed, Amelia did not wish to shatter her overly romanticized impressions of humanity. Despite knowing how cruel they all could be.

Amelia had nothing to lose by treating her kindly. So what was the harm? Maybe she could use her as a shield if it came to it.

"I think you're right that it is quite a finalizing act," she began. "Taking someone's life should probably only be used as a last resort. It's something you never forget. To end another's existence..." She trailed off.

It's a legitimate option for someone to consider, but you have to be very careful about it indeed.

"I'm not sure I'd be able to do it..."

A slight, upturned smile appeared upon Amelia's face, and she put her hand upon the girl's shoulder in a way similar to how Kei had before. "It's alright. There is no reason to panic. There is plenty of uncertainty, but that also means that there might be possibility that we will all make it out of here."

Perhaps she had done this to try to manipulate her, to earn her trust. Perhaps she wanted to comfort her, out of pity. Perhaps part of Amelia empathized with this awkward, bubbly girl. She wasn't entirely sure herself how she felt about it at the time.

...hopefully this would actually turn out to be beneficial, regardless of the reason.

For one of the both of them.

Amelia Rivera's POV

Amelia noticed the rather orderly person, who was opting for safety, trying not to get everyone killed. After a moment of thought, she gave a slight glance and nod in his direction, doing her best to indicate how she would perhaps come with him, but she was occupied at this moment in time.

The environment was getting more and more overwhelming, and Amelia was trying to catch all the information. But this was proving to be rather difficult, to balance with conversing with the person who had just introduced herself to her.

Some people appeared to be panicking, others trying to remain some sense of order, some fooling around... It was all madness. Really, the people who panicked now would probably kill or get themselves killed. Fear could be healthy, and rescue you from danger, if, you could contain it. Keep it rational, despite the irrational thing it is.

But if anyone actually wanted to get out of here, in Amelia's opinion, which she was as of now, not going to share, the wisest choices of action would be to remain guarded, but not entirely paranoid, to have some way of defending yourself, if need be, not to make any enemies. Or, perhaps, you could alternatively concoct a clever plan, to get away with murder.

Yes, the best thing to do would be to work from afar...

Actually, Amelia was curious about the whole "Murder-And-Get-Out-Of-Hope's-Peak-Free-Card" affair. What was involved when it came to that?

Amelia wasn't entirely sure if she'd just condemn a stranger to die, though, when they'd only been minorly annoying for the most part. Still. Maybe it would be nothing personal...

But, ah, yes, back on the subject of the girl in front of her. She was smiling at her now, probably trying to ease tension. She stared back in Kei's eyes, rarely blinking as if she was afraid to miss a single second worth of information that may be lost from having her eyes flicker.

Kei Oshima, on the surface, was seemingly shy, genuine, friendly, a bit awkward. She had a bubbly sort of energy. Amelia was actually feeling a warm presence in her, that seemed hardly intimidating. Although her shoulders tensed a little less, she still didn't wish to let her guard down. First impressions could be very wrong.

"Ah, I see. My name is Amelia Rivera." Her arms remained at her sides, although one moved slightly, as if wondering if the right thing to do was to shake Kei's hand. Still, she hesitated, but eventually stretched the arm out rather stiffly. Amelia's movements were slow and methodical, as though she was a doll and not really a person. Her voice came out calmly, flat, monotone.

"A pleasure to make your acquaintance."

It was so... Peculiar. Kei felt so genuine, and yet Amelia still wondered, was there something she hoped to gain from this?

"So..." She stirred, barely, hardly noticeably, and asked the question, perhaps to satisfy curiosity, perhaps to gather information, "What are your thoughts on this Killing Game situation, Kei?"

Dorky's POV

BUT KUBO COULD NOT JUST GO BACK TO SLEEP. HE HAD TO STAY AWAKE. For shipping reasons!! :DDDDDD ✨🎉🎊🎇 This is a Gayme of Wits callout post, Tem! /j

Lucian Arbred's POV

"Lucian, I'm not here to judge you. Seriously. What the hell do I have to judge you for? You know my tragic backstory, my sh*t- whatever. It's only fair you return the favour."

Lucian shook his head, and shook his head again, and again, and again. No, no, no, he had everything to judge him for! And that was... Hardly the point. Anything he struggled with didn't matter.

But... Kubo was saying he... Owed him?

He already looked angry enough. Lucian didn't want to ruin Kubo's day any more than he already had.

"Look, I... I..."

Lucian paused, hesitating. Who was he kidding? Kubo here was the Ultimate Detective. If he said the slightest thing, he might figure it all out and...

. . .

He'd never be able to help anyone ever again.

He heaved a sigh. But... If he owed him...

"I just... I hate remembering it. All of it. My dad, he... Was an awful person. I'm going to be honest. H-He..." Lucian inhaled sharply.

"I'm not sure if he... Cared that much about any of us. I'm not sure why my mom married him, not sure... What she saw in him."

He shuddered.

"On some occasions... We were forbidden to leave the house. H-He- He'd- always wave his gun around, a little, to let us know, what might happen if we didn't-"

Lucian thought he'd choke on his own breath. He could almost see the metal flickering in his vision.

"...listen. And sometimes, we'd be told to... D-Do certain tasks. We weren't really... Ever given much explanation. On what we were supposed to do during our... "errands." It always felt like he would hurt Kathy the most. She was always his least favorite child, maybe... Maybe it was because she was his daughter. My dad never... He never thought much of women."

Lucian hung his head. "I... I never understood why... Mom was still with him, and sometimes, I... Suspect she didn't really..."

He turned away, still shaking. "...didn't really... r-really... Hang herself. Though... At the same time... I wouldn't be surprised if she did. But he got over it so quickly. So very quickly."

Lucian had to take deep breaths, over and over, to steady himself, for a long while, before he could continue talking. When he spoke again, there was a faraway look in his eyes.

"...Sometimes... It's felt like... Death follows my family. Everywhere. You never escape it, no matter where you are."

And maybe his father deserved it. Still... He wouldn't wish ill will upon his brothers, despite what they'd said and done.

"But... My dad wasn't the worst, sometimes... He'd bring out his belt instead, or... He'd just yell. A- A lot. A-And... honestly, that place, living there... It was unbearable. I never want to let him see me cry again."

He lowered his head. "I-I never fought back, though... maybe it just made him hate me more than he already did. I don't know why he even had us kids in the first place, or... Why he married my mom. Although she was far more than he deserved..."

Lucian let out a choking sound, as the tears parted from his eyes.

"F-F... Far... Far more..."

He tried to muffle the sobbing with his hands, but it was to no avail. The tears wouldn't stop. The shaking, the choking, he couldn't breathe-

"Why didn't... Why didn't I--"

...

Make it stop.

"...why didn't I die instead...?"

Why?

...

Why?

...
Why?!

Lucian Arbred's POV

"Okay...?"

Lucian blinked. What was Kubo saying? Was he answering affirmatively to what he had said, or-

Then he stiffened, seeing the expression on Kubo's face.

"No. You're not okay. Stop pretending like you are."

For a second, he thought his heart had stopped. He opened his mouth to try to say something, to tell Kubo that wasn't true. He was perfectly okay. He was fine.

But that was a lie. He knew that was a lie.

And... Kubo hated lies.

"Jeez Lucian, for the Ultimate Therapist, you're pretty bad at deflection. I know something's not right."

...ouch.

He almost wanted to tell him. He almost did.

But he couldn't tell Kubo. Or anyone for that matter.

Because if he knew, he could never look at him the same way again.

It all would fall away before Lucian's eyes. And he couldn't tell Kubo. He couldn't tell anyone.

Lucian laughed softly. "Does it really matter... if I'm not? If something's wrong?"

He avoided meeting Kubo's gaze. He knew Kubo was mad at him and... He didn't like that, but...

"Just... Forget about it, okay?"

He cupped his hand over his mouth, attempting to muffle any incoming sobs.

"...i-it doesn't matter."

He shrank as much as he could where he sat, wishing that he could disappear completely. If only for a little while.

Amelia Rivera's POV

...?

Amelia stirred suddenly, and turned to see... Oh no. Someone had just touched her shoulder, and was now attempting to speak to her?

Hm. What to do?

She was smiling, she looked as though she was doing rather nervously. Her greeting contained but a stammer. Amelia Rivera was fascinated, was this person putting on a timid facade, or was she actually hesitant to speak with her?

For a long moment, Amelia stood there, and just blinked.

"Salutations. Didn't see you there."

She paused. Well, of course she hadn't seen her. Duh. What had she said that for? That much was already obvious. She coughed a moment, realizing if her possible to-be acquaintance's awkwardness was sincere, that Amelia may be even more awkward than her.

"Did you need something?"

...

. . .

Amelia stood very awkwardly still as she awaited a response. But as her mind flooded with thoughts of what to possibly say to this person, she lost track of what else might be going on.

I wonder if she is hoping to establish some kind of connection with me. Perhaps to make herself a killer, and me a victim, and frame someone else. Or... Does she wish to have an accomplice?

Maybe this was too many assumptions that she was making. But she had to prepare in case worse came to worst.

Amelia Rivera's POV

Amelia sighed almost silently. People were arguing already. Tsk, tsk. At rhis rate, they'd find a body the next morning. Oh, well.

It really wasn't her problem, was it? So what if some idiots wanted to get themselves killed? It was interesting to her, really, and perhaps a good thing that no one had noticed her yet. However... If some of these people were more... Sentimental, they may prefer a lesser known target.

The person who had handed over the noise-cancelling headphones. Was it an act of kindness? Or perhaps, deception? Maybe they wanted to gain their trust with what appeared to be something helpful.

People could be so deceptive. You never knew who you could really trust.

And that was why Amelia preferred to never fully trust anyone. Perhaps not even herself.

No one would kill anyone. What a preposterous thought. She slightly shook her head, lips quivering, almost parting, wondering if she should say something. But, no.

It would be foolish not to have a knife here, wouldn't it?

She almost smirked at the fact one of them was just trying to read. Pretending there wasn't even a Killing Game going on? How interesting.

Amelia Rivera's POV

Don't do anything rash. Don't let yourself be noticed, until it is safe.

She studied her companions from afar, and made mental notes on each of them, that might assist her in her potential future interactions with them. The mysterious bear, or whatever it was, had curiously vanished. How it had done so was a fascinating question to Amelia. Had there been a trapdoor, a secret passageway, or was this some sort of act of magic?

The bear had probably not been a hallucination, considering that most, if not all of her now companions, seemed to have seen it. They were also Ultimates, which meant that unless some bizarre trick was being played upon them, then this was probably indeed Hope's Peak Academy.

This was far more intriguing a conundrum than Amelia ever thought she would be placed within. She had come in here expecting, if she had been incorrect about the slightly off aura that this school held, that it was just an ordinary school, for the most unordinary of people. For the exceptional, her fellow Ultimates.

The first order of business would probably be not to make any enemies, if she was to survive here. So perhaps alliances would be in order.

But there was one thing she must keep in mind, to not get attached. To not let herself open up too much. To only let slip the slightest of details about herself, the most irrelevant, to make themselves clear. Carefully, she analyzed the people around her, turning her head only slightly, her ears picking up all she could.

One of the people there seemed obsessed with sales. Given that, she was probably a manipulative person, with much to hide, who probably put on a more pleasant personality on the surface. Probably acted like an open book, when she was merely a pack of lies with a mountain of insecurity. Perhaps the object of not ticking her off would be acting interested in her sales pitches.

Another person seemed to be making various theories about their situation. This got Amelia's attention. Someone in here was thinking about this situation in a similar way to her, unless, they were keeping their true thoughts hidden. He seemed rather tense, and frustrated. Someone else seemed to be rather fearful about the whole thing.

Something that the person who, in a way, resonated with her, stated piqued Amelia's interest. It seemed logical that they all could await rescue when the lack of communications aroused suspicion.

She decided to speak up, not seeing any danger in doing so at the time.

"I have a question. If no one knows where we are right now, what then?" she questioned.

Someone seemed interested in the knives. Amelia took note of this, Perhaps Airi wanted something for self-defense, or... something more... murderous. Or perhaps she was suicidal. Or... who knows?

Someone agreed that they should all stick together. But... Amelia wasn't so sure. They were all a bunch of strangers, someone was bound to turn to killing. It might even be Amelia Rivera herself, if she determined that it was safe, and the most beneficial to do so. On the other hand, she wanted to stay here for a while. This could be interesting...

That other person (Emika), was correct. They had to face facts here, some people might be driven to murder.

One thing was for sure, Amelia didn't trust the business girl. Not that she trusted any of the people here. Every human being had their hidden vices, no matter how hard they tried to hide them.

However...

What Amaya was saying made sense. She nodded agreement in his direction, very slowly.

She didn't share all her thoughts on the situation, of course.

Nothing of how she wouldn't be surprised if someone wound up dead right away. Nothing more of how they weren't completely clear on the situation.

Rescue... could that really be expected to arrive?

What was the bear? Who was in control of it?

Who had started this strange business regarding Killing Games? Was this the first time that such a thing had been held? This was getting more and more interesting...

Amelia Rivera's POV

Oh. So, what was this place called? Hope's Peak Academy. Yes, that was correct. Amelia pondered the origin of such a title. Maybe it was named Hope's Peak because the school was dubbed a place where hope was at its utmost, where fairy tales of some kind came to life in an educational system?

Amelia got a bit of a chill as she stood on the grounds. It fascinated her. Somehow, there was something slightly ominous about this place. Something... Off. She was curious as to exactly what that was. Or perhaps, Hope's Peak was some kind of mountain. Her mind had retreated to her previous thought.

But, ah, yes, she still had yet to approach the gates now. It wouldn't do her any good to arrive late. Certainly not on her first day either. Although... If anyone cared to bother her, they wouldn't stand in her way. No, she didn't believe in turning the other cheek and waiting for hell to rain down upon someone who wronged her, or anything of that sort.

Amelia Rivera believed that if you wanted to take vengeance upon someone, you did it carefully. From behind the scenes. And that was when she realized it, if she gave the whole ordeal another thought, she was going to be late. She must focus on the task at hand. Although, when her mind went rambling off on a tangent, it was difficult to redirect it.

Slowly, carefully, she rifled through her bag. Her wrists made the most delicate of movements. But she was not a messy, disorganized person, and soon enough, she found her keycard.

Amelia Rivera. Ultimate Voodoo Practitioner. ID#066.

As she had thought previously, there had been something off about the whole thing. Honestly, maybe there even had been in regards to her being given her talent. Who would want someone like that around? It could be potentially dangero-

She couldn't dwell on her many thoughts another moment, as she blacked out.

...

Amelia Rivera awoke to some particularly strange chatter from some voices. Voices she didn't recognize. Honestly, happened more often than you'd think, she wasn't all too surprised. What intrigued her though is she thought she heard the strange... Teddy bear, if that was what it was, rambling about... A Killing Game.

The idea intrigued her. She murmured something incomprehensible, hard to interpret whether it was a word of any sort in any language. Perhaps even she didn't know.

She didn't find herself studying her companions, in, what she assumed to be Hope's Peak Academy. Although considering that all of them had presumably been knocked unconscious, for some purpose or other, ah, yes, the Killing Game. But someone had to have done this.

Amelia stared intently at the bear, tilting her head to the side, again murmuring something incomprehensible. It was black-and-white, presumably in the colors of Yin and Yang. The place was called Hope's Peak, so... Was it to be assumed he represented both hope and despair? Under a circumstance such as a Killing Game?

Everyone seemed to be offering their own thoughts on the matter. Some were intrigued, like she was. Others were horrified. What was the purpose of this Killing Game, exactly, was the biggest thing on her mind? And what was this bear?

A robot? A stuffed toy? Or, perhaps, yes, maybe it was possessed by a spirit. Controlled by another force of nature. She was curious of its origin.

Amelia pondered to herself whether she should approach any of the people in the building, and, decided against it. She would observe a bit more. Certainly, plenty of them might turn out to be dangerous, or malicious in some form or other. She would have to be careful, learn as much as she possibly could, and maybe then, she could act.

Maybe she'd kill someone. Maybe she'd try to survive through it all. Or something else... who knows?

She sat there, cross-legged on the floor, merely pondering the predicament, eerily still and barely blinking.
