This girl was really, really unnerving Agria, but Agria had seen lots of children come into the orphanage. She'd seen them lash out with horrible anger issues, drive themselves crazy, she could handle Lillith. She would be fine...Right? She suddenly realized that Lillith had asked her a question. She didn't have any weapons. Agria had never even hit anyone, let alone used a weapon. Even the idea of using one was a forgien concept. Agria was honestly begggening to belive she stood no chance, and that she'd never be able to keep her promise. The light in her eyes went out at this, and she half-heartedly signed, No, no weapons. That's when she remembered her work at the dock, and hurriedly added, But I know how to use a trident. That's when there was a knock at the door. "Agria? What room is this, I know you're in here. You really need to go back to your room, the Peackeepers are going to have both our heads," Xena said.

Four days later, Dimtiri's nerves still hadn't calmed down, though he was good at hiding it. He seemed to throw himself into his work even harder. If Salazar Slytherin had been alive, maybe he would have been proud of his ambition, even if Dimtiri was a halfblood. Jennifer seemed to have gone quiet, though she still went out of her way to threaten and make Dimitri's life miserable. However now that she had faced the idea that maybe she could actually be caught in the act, she was more subtle about it, trying her best to avoid Faith. However now that Jennifer knew about her, it seemed that she had gained a new target, and gained some of Jennifer's unwanted...attention, though less than Dimitri, since she knew he would never fight back. One day, Dimitri stormed into the library. He seemed bent on finding something, his eyes red and puffy from lack of sleep, face pale as he stumbled a little.

The earthquake ended with one final roar, before everything settled, all over as quickly as it had begun. As the dust settled, men and women who were once red-faced and drunken were now shaken sober as they picked themselves up from under tables, many of which were broken or knocked over. Things had been flung off shelves, beer was splattered everywhere from the broken flasks, and there were cracks in the roof where tiles had fallen, tiny rays of artificial light from the lights in the room fleeing like they too had been affected by the earthquake and were desperate to flee.

Jade

Jade had spent a long time being used to things. She liked it that way. Jade may have only been seventeen years old but she'd grown accustomed to things no seventeen year old should have to. Jade had, as she put it cheerfully many times, "Learned to roll with the punches." But what she wasn't ready for was a horrible earthquake that was unlike anything she'd ever experienced, because Jade had never been in an earthquake. Born in the underground, she'd grown up only knowing the food warehouses, the tavern, the artifical air and light sources, evreything that had been created in a desperate attempt to save humanity, though if it was really saved was still something to be decided. She'd never been in an earthquake before. It was a horrifyingly new experience. Jade hadn't experienced something she wasn't reay for in awhile, and it shook her up. She picked herself up from under the bar, wringing out her skirt where it had been splashed by one of the falling flasks. Jade managed to find her balance by gripping onto the counter. When evreyone saw her pop up, she was suddenly surrounded by all of the patrons, hungover and confused, desperate for answers and all crowding her, the one person they could depend on even if it was just to serve drinks. Jade was overwhelmed for a minute, and took a deep breath. Focus. "Evreyone shut up!" she yelled as she climbed onto the counter. This quited them down as they stared up at her. "Look, I have-" Jade was interrupted by a loud clanging from outisde.

Tagger

It took evrey ounce of Tagger's strength to pull himself up from under the bar, especially with his leg. He was older than Jade, and had seen a bit more. So he had distant memories of what an earthquake was like, something that lessened the shock at the horrible demise of the area around him. He was almost greatful that Jade hadn't given him any alchohol, because then he would have looked like the drunkards around him, pale-faced and addle brained. If there was one thing that Tagger liked about himself, it was his brain. He wasn't stupid, and he knew what he had to do to survive, and...when it was time to give up. He jumped a little when Jade yelled, putting a bit more of his wheight on the leg, causing him to flinch horribly. But he settled again, his knuckles white as he gripped the counter for balance. He wanted to do something when he saw how all of those people crowded Jade. But, it seemed that she could handle it herself. Like Jade's attempt at a crowd-calming speech, his thoughts were cut off by the clanging sound.

The clanging sound was that of a bell. This bell hadn't been used in years, it was a sort of call-to-arms, or in this case, an emergency town meeting. The man that rang the bell was a haggard man that seemed to always be hanging around, though no one could tell you what his job was. Nonetheless evreyone knew that he was a brilliant yet slightly unstable man. No one knew his name, though the real truth was no one cared to ask. They just called him The Thinker. The Thinker, wearing a long brown coat and gloves with a scraggly brown beard, hung on the rope like it was the last thing that could save him. Evreyone began to file out, and once they were all out, he began talking, walking around the platform that the bell was standing on. "People of the Underground! As you know, we had not had an earthquake in many, many years. This occurence is something rare and unnartural, no? I tell you, it is most definetly unnatural, but natural nonetheless! We are in the feeding grounds of a monster!" The reaction to his words was...mixed. Some laughed, some paled (especially the younger ones, children and mothers) and others shouted for him to get off the platform. No one had the same reaction to this bold speech.

[center]Onyx

They were thrown from the beast, whose corpse jumped and flailed through the air almost as if it were still alive in a morbid display. Onyx came threatingly close to falling into a cavern, but used their sword to stop themself.

They kept crawling forward, towards the trees that were crashing down.

But then

It stopped. They paused for a minute, testing the waters.

Then they looked up, seeing Yashura.

They raised their voice, "Do you know what just happened?"

The stress of the situation was definitely weighing down on Grey. While he was used to an enviorment like this (Was he? Or was his mind starting to finally crack after all these years?) Nevertheless, he was definetly feeling nervous. His shoulders tensed and he clenched his fists, trying not to panick. Grey had never had anxiety, or any kind of panick, Red made sure of that. But maybe today was finally that day. But as Grey nosed at his jaw, he felt himself relax before he knew what was happening. Some part of him took immense comfort in this simple act, and he smiled a little, though only half-heartedly. But then, another memory sparked, and his eyes widened. San. This was San. He knew San. The memories were slowly flooding back, putting puzzle peices where there hadn't been any before. Though the faces were still blurry, and the voices muffled, he could see himself. See Erin. See San, clearer than ever. Tears sprang to his eyes as he let out a choked, "I..remember," then furiously blinked back tears before anyone could see. Maybe that wasn't the whole truth. Maybe he couldn't remember anything. But that had given him new hope. He tentatively reached up with a hand to scratch San's ears. "I remember you," he whispered.

This enviorment.

This hatred.

It felt too familiar to go unnoticed.

Grey had always known what it was like to be despised, to be surrounded by hostility. Came with the powers. But this felt like a deep-rooted hatred, something far greater then he had ever experienced. But at the same time, Grey knew he'd felt it before. He knew that somewhere, somehow he had been in a situation dauntingly simalar situation. Tested on, experimented, poked and prodded. But why couldn't he remember? Why couldn't he think back any farther than the few months of memories that he had? All that Grey could remember was that time with Red, but..there was a horrible blank that caused pain to shoot through him whenever he tried to push his memory back that far. The most frusturating part was that he had this strange deja vu, something that pulled him to the people around him.

He, like Dantier, could feel the insanity pratically radiating from this woman. He didn't want to be anywhere near her. So, he picked a seat as far as he could get. He wasn't going to struggle. Somehow he knew it wouldn't be worth the fight. He ended up sitting next to the android from before. Erin, was that her name? Grey knew her, but how he hadn't figured out yet. That was another thing bothering him. Like the cat that she had been holding, and its reaction to him. Something was obviously going on that he hadn't figured out about.

Tagger

Tagger gave her a grim smile. "No one cares about me anymore, so why should I?" He didn't know why he was being brutally honest with this girl. Maybe it was because he knew that she understood more than she let on. He accepted the water, and downed most of it in one gulp, slamming the glass on the table. But as he was about to speak, the room started to violently shake.

Jade

Jade looked up, cursing as dust and mortar floated from the ceiling. Drinks spilled, tables rocked, and she shouted, "Everyone, under a table!" She herself dove under the bar, helping Tagger underneath too and saying to Cass, "Come on! Over here!"

Odil grinned again. "Good, good, so it's all settled. Pack your things, you're leaving in an hour." "What," Moxie said flatly. "An hou-errr," Odil dragged out the words, "That's quite enough time." "Fine," She sighed. "And you're taking Princey with you, back to your place." Moxie was about to protest, but gave up. She turned to Jace. "I'll need help to smuggle him there, you want in?"

What neither of them knew was that the princess was in no danger. In fact, she was the danger to them all.

Agria clapped a hand over her mouth in shock as she listened to the gristly tale. She had no idea that something like that could even happen, but then again, she never did know anything about what went on in the other districts. Was something like this really that common? When Melissa "apeared," Agria scooted away some, but managed to control herself. She watched Lillith pace, then signed out, I'm sorry. You didn't deserve that. She was hesitant before adding, I'm sure you'll be able to get your revenge soon enough She wasn't quite sure what else to say...

Grey was more focused on the gun that was being pointed at his head than anything else, so maybe he had a bit of an excuse for bumping into the android. When she did bump into him, it jolted him from his train of thought. Almost on reflex, he was abut to say something snarky, but then stopped. The brush with the unknown android caused a memory to flash through his brain. It was over in an instant, but his eyes were wide. "Erin?" he whispered, then blinked, "How...how do I know that name?"

Agria managed to smile at Lillith. Even if she was a little unnerving, she seemed like a genuienly nice person, if you weren't getting on her badside. Maybe she would make a good alliance? Agria pushed the thoughts of what would come after that alliance had sucssessfully got her somewhere. She couldn't think about that now, or she would surely break down. She took the chocolate, and it certainlly helped some. So, she was feeling brave enough to sign out, What is your story?

Agria jumped, and quickly signed out, No, No! I- She hesitated. Wasn't that the whole point of this? Killing people? Agria paled, and slumped a little in defeat. She hadn't let that thought enter her mind in awhile..She half-heartedly picked up a tea cake and ate it, then signed, Someone will come looking for me, I don't want to get you in trouble

The sound of San's..transformation made Grey's stomach lurch, but not horribly, as if he'd heard it before. That just increased the annoying amount of questions that were running through his head. Where had he heard it? Why was he feeling this connection to the people around him? Grey clenched his jaw, digging back into his memory. Maybe if he could just-There was a peircing pain at the base of his neck, and Grey doubled over, trying not to cry out. When the men came in, he tried to move to his feet, but they noticed he'd untied himself and grabbed him by the arm, retying the knots. "Heyy, ouch," he snarked, "Got sensitive skin, y'know." One started guiding him, and muttered, "Try anything and I'll put a bullet through your brain." "Sorry, they put me through that hulabaloo and found out that bullets and I have a preety toxic relationship. They give evreything, but I just don't take it." "Then I'll shoot one of the others, see how you like that." Grey stiffened, then fell silent. He didn't think he knew these people, but something in him stopped him, saying that he wouldn't want any of them getting hurt whatsoever.

Agria sighed. She wasn't sure if she really wanted to open up, but Lillith's unnerving stare caused her to cave. Fingers moving fast, she signed out the terrible tale.

My parents died when I was very young. I don't remember why, or when, but they did. I lived in the wreckage of our old home until a man found me. I still don't know who he was. He dragged me to an orphanage run by...a woman called Auntie who raised me until now. She's not a good person. She hits, and yells, and throws you in the cellar if you're bad. Even the mayor is scared of her. But...I was the real caretaker. I took care of the other children, comforted them when Auntie hit them, encouraged them, did what I could. Now I can't protect them...

Agria was still running on a high. She didn't understand what was going on, or why Lillith was treating her like this. Didn't she understand that they'd have to kill eachother? That thought made her pale, and so she was careful as she came in, gently holding the doll. Lillith scared her, so she did her best to cooperate, sitting down on the bed. She signed out, Why do you help me?

Agria was first suprised by Lillith's boldness as she grabbed her wrist, then stiffened as they got closer to Lillith's room. It wasn't that she was scared of Lillith, it was more that she was scared of being caught by a Peacekeeper, as she knew that they would not react positively. After the scare, her brain was running on high. Anxiety whispered evrey possibility of what could happen. She curled her hands into fists and crossed them. Safe?

Agria stopped, wide-eyed as she saw Lillith and Natalia. She furiously wiped the tears from her eyes, backing up a little. She didn't know that this was out-of-bounds, and this girl scared her. She nodded once, unsure of what else to do. As an almost test of sorts, she pressed her thumbs and pointer fingers together to make a circle, the other fingers arching above as she jabbed them forward from above her head. Horrible

The excitement of the parade had worn off, and the dreading feeling had come back. Agria was inside the Capitol. This was too much It was overwhelming enough, all the excitement from before, but this was worse. Agria folded into herself as she was led to her room. It was something she'd done before, a learned practice. Every time that Auntie would scream, "GIRL!" or "MUTE" from across the house, she'd do this. Evrey time that she had to go into the center of District Four, she'd do it. Agria had learned to make herself small. She'd learned that if she did that, she went unoticed, because no one noticed the small things. The things that couldn't speak. But she knew deep down that letting herself go at the parade had made people notice her in a way that she could never erase, and she hated it.

The room that she had been given was simple, but elegant. A dark green theme with splatters of gold every now and then. She flopped down on the bed and sighed. It had been such a long day, she didn't want to sleep again after what happened last time, but it wouldn't hurt if, just for a minute...

She was in the cellar again. Auntie would punish the children in many ways, but nights in the cellar was one that Agria feared most. The cellar was dirty and grimy, dark with no light so that you couldn't even see the fingers in front of your face, but you could feel the rats crawling over your toes. Their fur brushing against your shins, their teeth chattering as they threatened to bite. Their long claws left scratches all over your feet, even if you kicked out at them, and Agria still had scars, despite the many sleepless nights she'd spent kicking away at the rats. But this time the rats were much larger than before, and Agria couldn't move. She couldn't do anything. They were biting and biting and biting, and Auntie just laughed at her perdicament-

Agria woke up with strangled sobs, her own choking scream louder than she meant it to be. Xena knocked on the door, but Agria didn't make a move to open the door. Eventually, Xena came in, and sighed. "Nightmare, I'm guessing?" She nodded, and Xena started to speak. "Look, I-" Agria tapped something out on the table, and Xena nodded. "I'll give you your space." Agria left the room and began wandering the halls aimlessley. Only a part of her didn't care if she ran into a Peacekeeper.

Grey's mood turned sour, though he was used o being angry. It seemed like he always was. "Shut your mouth, Andrea," he snapped. "We all know what our situation is. But we're not even out of wherever this is, so you might as well focus on one thing at a time, okay?" He sighed, shoulders slumping as his fingers worked at the knots. He had gotten one undone, but his fingertips were becoming red and steaming from the mesh in the ropes, but he ignored it. He wrapped what parts of his hand he had managed to get undone around the rope to keep him steady, hissing slightly at the pain. He managed to get his bonds undone, but when the ropes fell to the ground, he flexed his fingers. The parts of his hand that touched the rope were an ugly, ugly red.

Grey sighed. This was getting akward. He'd seen the glances from a few people, like they knew him. But he didn't. He only knew a select few of them. He realized that the mesh's power over him was waining, and he managed to get himself into a sitting posistion, his fingers working numbly at the knots. "Look, I have the strange feeling I know you people personally, so i might as well get it out in the open. You're on Blue, right? Have we met? Personally?" He didn't doubt he'd hurt at least one of them.

As the carrige rushed through the path, Agria had never felt more free. Sure, she could still feel the stiffling grip of the Capitol, evident in the roaring crowds, but for once, she wasn't aversed to the roar. The wind rushed through her hair, undoing the careful curls, but it reminded her of the seaside of home, and she loved it. Agria was able to keep herself contained, but as they reached the bend, she did something impulsive. She threw her arms back and laughed. It was a strange noise, as she didn't have much ability to make vocal sounds, but the happiness in it was true and promiennt. For once, Agria was able to forget all her problems, pretend the crowd was a roaring sea, and throw her head back with glee. She closed her eyes, and for the first time in awhile, she smiled a true and happy smile. Of course, this didn't make the Capitol happy. A few promient faces had fists curled, and eyes narrowed. This would not be good for Agria.
