"..." Suzume looked thoughtful a moment, closing her eyes and her mouth. "The poison," she murmured to herself thoughtfully.

Was that the key to this mystery?

Or was there something else?

She considered carefully what the bear had said. "May I see the Monokuma File?" she asked in a nonchalant voice.

She paused, and glanced at Buraddo. "I highly doubt this is going to be a traditional court case, my good acquaintance."Wait... did we meet? Ah, whatever.

Kowai Kurai's POV

Kowai Kurai scanned the room. "Okay! Let's... begin the debate! Monokuma, can I have my Monokuma File?"

She frowned at Hisoka. What was it he was thinking?... Did he have an idea about who did it?

The sly little- He might. He might not.

Femi Davis's POV

Femi raised his eyebrows in concern. "Um... are your nails okay?" he asked awkwardly. Why do nails matter at a time like this, he wondered. We're literally all going to die. He was also rather concerned about their nonchalant reaction.

Boo-hoo. Everyone gets killed.

Isn't that a terrible thing?

The shepherd doesn't disregard any sheep as nothing.

Suzume glanced over at Megami with a sigh. "Well... I have a number of theories about what went down in each particular event. But that's all they are, theories, I don't have much for evidence."

Dang it...

Would they have enough evidence? And would theorizing possibly be enough?

"Come on, guys! Let's find- and avenge- Nagisa's killer!" Kowai Kurai chirped enthusiastically. "So, what do we know?"

You could all die for all I care. She glanced in Hisoka's direction...

Femi Davis's POV

Femi glanced over at Keiki. Who was that? He didn't catch that person's name. Oh, right, the person he tried to talk to earlier. He sighed.

"This is... pretty crazy, isn't it? I don't even know anything about what happened!" Hopefully... he could manage to help out, somehow.

As Suzume walked into the room, she noticed something disturbing. There were podiums for each student, but one of the empty ones... bore a portrait... a portrait of a familiar face, someone who had died quite recently...
Nagisa Aoki. The owner of that podium, would never arrive in the room.

This sent a chill through her.

Kowai Kurai's POV

Kowai Kurai made her way to her podium, smiling semi-confidently. She couldn't look too happy, or too terrified. Couldn't let either happen...

She watched the others, as they made their way into the room.

Femi Davis's POV

Femi spotted the portrait, and he thought he'd actually vomit. Was... that what happened? Whenever someone died? In this room?

Were they all going to die? WAS HE GOING TO DIE!? Focus. Focus.

Suzume shivered and glanced over nervously at her friend. "We tried our best, we'll just have to hope that we've gathered enough evidence." But if I'm being honest... we've hardly gathered any evidence. We're probably all as good as dead... dang it. Maybe we can get the killer to expose themselves somehow...

She inhaled and narrowed her eyes, before stepping into the elevator. Her expression filled with determination.

Kowai Kurai's POV

Kowai Kurai gasped dramatically. "Oh no! We ran out of time! This is awful!" She hugged herself tightly, her eyes wide in pure, utter, undeniable terror! "I-It's okay! We're going to figure this out somehow!" I'm not dying today.

She made her way inside the elevator. Although she looked absolutely terrified, she wasn't at all afraid.

Femi Davis's POV

Femi Davis grimaced, and squirmed away from Suko. "Um... uh... yeah. Of course." He went almost absolutely, positively still. He felt like he was going to vomit, even though he was so hungry...

He was dead. He was as good as dead. He didn't come here to die!

No. He had to pull himself together. Inhaling, but shaking, he got to his feet. He had to help everyone find the solutions to this problem.

He finally forced himself, to step inside the elevator...

Suzume Fujimori's POV

Suzume nodded. "That's a good plan, Megami. So then... Buraddo?" She tapped the student on the shoulder. "Do you have any legal files on it?" Anxiously, Suzume bit her lip and brainstormed the possibilities within her mind. Who could the killer be? She didn't know most people well here.

Who would hold such a grudge against Nagisa, as to want her dead? Unless there was no grudge? Was it suicide, maybe? Unlikely. Nagisa’s last words hardly seemed like someone expecting to die.

He was quite clearly shocked upon her death. Tragic, she thought, that the last thing he did before he died was complimenting his possible killer’s cooking.

She couldn’t assume that he had done it, of course. She had to be thorough in this investigation, after all. The seconds were ticking down…

Could it have been an accident? People seemed annoyed at Nagisa, at most. Not enough to kill him.

It didn’t seem rational to kill Nagisa, unless she was just a place-holder victim? Did it matter who the victim was?

Was there anything about the victim?

Kowai Kurai’s POV

Kowai Kurai, on the other hand, watched the clock tick down without a worry in the world. Of course, she didn’t show that on her face. Anyone who saw the girl would see her frightened eyes, fearing the chasm of death and oblivion, blah, blah, blah…

Oh, everyone was so frightened. But she had no reason to fear! And it’s not like she cared about anyone here anyway…

At all.

Femi Davis’s POV

Femi Davis was breaking down in almost every typical habit a nervous person could have. His face was pale, he was sweating all over, shaking, shaking, biting his nails until they bled, desperately willing himself to calm down. He had to calm down! He had to pull himself together. He noticed the newcomer…

Well. They didn’t seem to know anyone here all that well. Maybe… they wouldn’t hurt anybody? Femi cautiously made his way over, tugging at his scarf and on his hair, inhaling and exhaling, willing himself to calm down.

“Th-th-this is, pretty messed up, isn’t it? I didn’t know him… I didn’t know him at all. And- I’m guessing you didn’t either. So- there’s- no way you could- kill her.” He glanced left and right as he said this to the newcomer in a teeth-chattering, hoarse voice.
“So… um- hey. I don’t know if anyone told you, but we really need to scrounge together some evidence or we’re going to freaking die.” As he said the last sentence out loud, the panic escalated in his eyes, as though he finally understood the gravity of the situation.

Immediately, he found himself running off to the kitchen, scrounging, scrounging, scrounging… was there anything?! ANYTHING?

Suzume Fujimori's POV

Suzume ran after them into the kitchen, to help with the investigation. "Hey, you two, I just... thought of something. Was there anything unusual about Nagisa? Did she have any special conditions of any kind?"

She frowned thoughtfully to herself. "Because... I was just thinking. Nagisa didn't seem to notice it was poisoned. Not that- it's impossible not to notice something is poisoned, but..."

Femi Davis's POV

Femi sighed in annoyance. "I- fine. Let's- just go." Now he was just reluctant, instead of anxious... and he didn't even know why. He wondered if Suko's obnoxiousness was distracting him from his fear somehow. Or had he just gone crazy?

Femi Davis made his way to the cafeteria with his rather annoying companion, glancing left and right. Great... he didn't know any of these people, he didn't know what was going o- Oh my God. Oh my God. He froze, seeing the pale body slouched over the table.

"So... it's- t-true. Someone... really died." It's like he couldn't have believed it until he actually saw it with his own eyes. And the worst part? He hadn't bothered to get to know anyone here, so it's not like he'd know anything. At least... that meant no one would think he did it.

Because he couldn't have done it! And he wouldn't have!
But... what to do now?

Kowai Kurai continuously investigated the body, and suddenly, she smiled in realization. "So, that's it, then. That's what it is." She walked away from the scene, she knew all she needed to know. She spotted the newcomers and wondered how things were going for them?

Not that it mattered. She wasn't going to die today. Someone else was, at the end of it.

Suzume Fujimori’s POV

”...” Suzume was silent, at first. She was unsure how to react, but she started shaking, her hands curling into fists. This wasn’t out of sadness, nor her anger, or even her growing fear. She was inhaling deeply, forcing herself to focus on the situation at hand. “I know I’m going to sound like someone else here when I say this,” she said quietly and solemnly.

“But we need to stay calm, investigate, and figure out who did this. If we panic, we’ll only all end up executed. We… have to handle this rationally. Let’s do this. Did anyone know anything about Nagisa that would’ve aided in poisoning him?”

And she smiled, as reassuringly as she could at her friend, even though she was shaken. "Yes... let's- find justice. And- avenge him. Find- the truth." Well, that was rather unconvincing. But... if that was how Megami felt, about it... she wanted to reassure her.

For some strange reason.

A thought popped into Suzume Fujimori’s mind. She had some knowledge of poisons, herself. But, probably not of this particular matter…

Kowai Kurai’s POV

Well, there’s no point in pretending to be all “weak and helpless damsel in distress”. I can’t let myself get killed. Kowai sniffled, pretending to stop crying. “W-W-We need to investigate, to avenge Nagisa!” she stammered.

-- Before immediately proceeding to examine the student’s corpse. Nagisa’s expression was frozen in that of betrayal, and the tears formerly in his eyes had dropped to the table and given it slight moisture. Nagisa’s features had gone completely limp, and his eyes were still open in shock, but the beautiful blue, once full of hope and determination, was fading fast…

What a sight. He looks completely devastated. I wonder if someone close to him did this?

She noticed Nakata walking into the cafeteria. "N-N-Nagisa- just- died," she told him. "He was murdered."

Femi Davis’s POV

Femi heard the announcements over the loudspeaker and shook with fear. “W-We have to get out there, and investigate- figure out what happened!” But… he didn’t want to. He just wanted to stay in here. But if he… if he didn’t head out there… what would happen? He didn’t want to know…

Suzume Fujimori's POV

"We're too late," Suzume told Megami, in a shaky whisper. "He's gone..." She wasn't... all that sad about it. She'd hardly known him, but there was still something somewhat devastating about the shell of the former student, growing paler and paler. The Ultimate Romantic was gone, and fittingly... this had left a mark on everyone's feelings, in some way or other.

Kowai Kurai's POV

Kowai Kurai noticeably shook all over, her eyes wide with fear. "O-O-O-Oh no! He's- gone!?" she whimpered. "Nooooo- how could this be!? How?! How could one of you have killed him?" She started sobbing, and put her hands to her face. So no one tried to kill me, at least today... what kind of grudge could someone have held against Nagisa, though, I wonder?... to kill him.

Femi Davis's POV

Femi flinched, his eyes widening, and he started paling once again. "O-O-O-Oh my God- someone- SOMEONE DIED!?" He reverted back to his former feelings about Suko almost immediately, squirming away as fast as he could. "How can you say that?! Someone just got- murdered!!" It wasn't me... but... still.

Suzume Fujimori's POV

Suzume's eyes widened at Megami. An act... of kindness? Of generosity? Should she accept it? "I... do believe it's ruining my appetite as well," she replied, and she couldn't help smiling a little. "Thank you, Megami, if, you're sure... I know my plate isn't much to brag about."

Slowly, hesitantly, she poked a fork at Megami's food. Could she call this forced acquaintance of hers, this temporary ally, a potential friend? She'd figured she'd given up on friends long ago, but this could possibly just be bribery.

But bribing her to do what? She sighed and took a mouthful. "Thank you."

Nagisa Aoki's POV

Nagisa Aoki watched everyone starting to eat around him, and finally permitted himself to whet his appetite. She began to force herself to choke down the food, that was none too appetizing. "This is really good, Amano!" she said, accidentally between bites, being sure that he compliment his-

A look of shock and terror flashed in his eyes. His face turned a strange purplish-green, and tears welled in her eyes. Who could have- how could have-

Nagisa collapsed on her side onto the table, the life draining from his eyes.

Third-Person POV

Kowai flinched and gasped in utter alarm. "U-Uh- she's just- choking, right? He's f-fine, right?" He's not moving- who did this!?
Suzume's eyes widened. "O-oh my God- I think she was poisoned! Someone poisoned her!"
Suzume started shaking all over. So... it was really starting... no one was safe. Someone... had dealt the first blow. And killed someone.
"Someone, get her some water!!" Kowai cried, ~~pretending she didn't know he was dead.~~

Nagisa Aoki's POV

Nagisa glanced over at Amano's plate with a worried frown. "O-Oh- gosh, Amano! I'll- take your plate for you." She didn't want to tell him that it looked like a complete and utter mess. What had happened?

He made his way into the cafeteria, and then, taking a deep breath-

"We're all finished now!" Nagisa announced with a big smile. "Great work, everyone! Now let's eat!" He brought a few of the plates in, setting them down carefully for the other students. Of course, she wasn't the only one doing this. "I'm really happy we all managed to put this together. Thank you so much for coaching us, Amano!"

Nagisa sat down at his own plate. Wow, he was hungry. But she wanted to wait for a few more people before eating, to be polite, of course! That was important.

Kowai Kurai's POV

Kowai's eyes brightened. "It's finally done!? Great!! I'm so hungry!" But I better be careful. I don't think anyone would try anything, not even Hisoka. After all... what use would he have for killing me? It didn't look poisonous, or smell poisonous...

Suzume Fujimori's POV

Suzume made her way out of the kitchen with a sigh. She'd messed her own plate up, of course. But all of Amano's yelling had stressed her out. She put down a few other students' plates without comment, and took to her own food in silence.

Femi Davis's POV

Femi raised his eyebrows. "Ah- um- you have a bag? The game is in?" he asked curiously. And there was something else he couldn't help but wonder about, which was what might be going down in the cafeteria. Ah, well, probably something dangerous, that he wanted to stay far, far away from. But would he rather take his chances with this weirdo or a ton of weirdos?

Nagisa clapped his hands together. "Wow!! I can't wait! This is going to be great, Amano! First, we get to cooking, and then we all break out of here!" she chirped, beaming. Everyone seemed to look uneasy... hopefully that'd change. "Alright, let's get to cooking!" He headed off in the direction he figured the kitchen was at.

Kowai sighed. Of course, she wasn't deemed trustworthy. That was unfortunate... but she couldn't afford to make a fuss. If she started fussing over being upset she wasn't considered trustworthy, people would probably think she was untrustworthy! So instead, she decided to approach the situation with eagerness. "Wow, I'm so hungry! I wonder what they're going to make?" she gasped, her eyes sparkling.

Suzume Fujimori's POV

Suzume was, frankly, surprised to be chosen. She didn't expect to be considered trustworthy, the people here barely knew her, after all. But now might be a time to prove herself useful. "I'm flattered to have been chosen," she replied, in a rather ambiguous tone. "Let's make something edible!"

Okay, not as much enthusiasm as she would've liked. However, edible was probably the least that could be asked for in a situation like this.

She wondered how a certain person, in this room, had managed to be so enthusiastic... what did she have to be enthusiastic about? The situation needed to be assessed realistically.

Femi Davis's POV

They ignored the last part of what I said, didn't they? Femi thought miserably. But it's not like he wanted to argue with someone who might kill him. "Oooooookay. Fine. How do we play?"

Nagisa Aoki's POV

"A-Ah- murdered?!" Nagisa stammered. "Oh, you're joking!! Right? Haha. Hahahaha. Okay, umm- yes. Let's follow him!" He smiled cheerily at Niwa, and made her way down the hall, heading to the cafeteria.

He sneezed several times on the way there. Oh, no, not again!! What was it with these hallways and being so dusty?! He'd have to clean them up at some point if she ever got the chance to... Shaking her head, he headed off to the cafeteria, looking behind to ensure Niwa was following. But, Nagisa, besides hope and determination, was filled with something else…

A prickling sensation, a sensation of fear and uncertainty of Niwa. But why?...

Kowai Kurai's POV

Kowai Kurai made her way to the cafeteria, with a heaving sigh. She hated it, always following Hisoka around! Oh, good God, she wanted to!!!- Focus, Kowai. Don't let your feelings get the better of you. It's probably not a good idea to kill him. You need him, you know. She watched Hisoka, a moment, in fear of being discovered... she- hm. Who was that? Wasn't her name... Chika?

But, she might get discovered, didn't want to look all stalker-ish. "Ah, jeez, Hisoku! W-Were you going to leave me behind? I feel offended!" She looked to be on the verge of tears. She pretended to notice Chika for the first time. "Oh, hey! Who is this?" She tilted her head. "I don't know if I've seen you before!"

Suzume Fujimori’s POV

Suzume pressed her glasses back a moment, and nodded. “Ah, I see! That’s a good idea, to take notes on the people here. I do suppose I should try doing that myself. Let’s head out, for now, though.” Suzume followed after Megami, glancing around the halls, and thinking to herself.

I wonder if I can trust Megami. She hasn’t proven to be untrustworthy, at least not yet, and she seems to be rather intelligent. I think I should be careful around her, though, you never know who you can trust…

Femi Davis’s POV

”Sn-snakes and- ladders? Working... out?” Femi was puzzled. Was that some kind of game? He’d never heard of it before. Although… he did like… snakes. And he wasn't all that good at physical fitness. "SET PEOPLE ON FIRE?!! You're- you're joking, right?!" Oh, good grief, he was a mess all over again!!

“Please stop that… you’re really- making me uncomfortable. I’m worried you’re going to-” Wait, why was he telling them? AUGH!! Could it be he already considered Suko… a friend?! Ugh, this was just sad!

Worried that Suko would notice his panicked expression, he immediately changed the subject, “Maybe we should head to the cafeteria, to-eat something? I’m really hungry,” he lied unconvincingly. He’d be a lot less likely to get murdered in- a more wide-open environment, right? Because there’d be more places to run and hide if need be… he might find something to defend himself…

Wow, this was a mess... not like he could trust this person, anyway... He sighed.

Kowai Kurai's POV

"Owwwww! Hisokuuu, you jeerrrk!" she spoke loudly, but slowly, as though she were just waking. Kowai's lips curled into a pout, as she pretended to awaken for the first time, hair greatly disheveled, strands and locks slipping into different places. "Could you not hit me in the head with a pillow? It hurts!"

She got up, sat up, stood up, tilted her head at Kanai. "Oh! Hisoka, maybe she's not hungry. But- uhhh- Kunai? Kanai? Whatever your name is? Can I call you Fiddle?" She giggled. Wow, that sounds super dumb. She put her hands on her hips, cheery, shiny smile upon her lips. "Butttttt- even if you're not hungry, it's probably best we head to the cafeteria, even if that means Hisoka is right," she grumbled. "So could you come up with usssss? Pleaseee? I think it might be the best course of action right now!"

Pleading, sparkling, massive puppy eyes. Though reddish-brown, like bloodstains.

Nagisa Aoki's POV

Nagisa flinched. "I- um- I guess... he must've not heard me. I guess he's heading out anyway! Ah, that's alright, that's alright." She frowned thoughtfully to herself, and glanced over at Niwa.

"I- wouldn't call him that!! But- it's probably a bad idea for him to be out there, all alone, we should definitely go after him!" Although, even Nagisa had to admit, that enthusiasm was almost a little exhausting. He sighed in frustration. "Alright, Niwa, let's go. I know- you probably want to sleep right now, but- we have to get in there!"

Femi Davis's POV

"!!!" Femi squirmed away, an alarmed look on his face. "W-What are you doing!? G-get off me!" Were they trying to ambush him!?! He hyperventilated, shock displayed quite clearly in his wide eyes. Or, maybe... uh... Suko was being friendly?? What the heck?

Femi inhaled and exhaled, and after a few minutes, forced himself to speak. "Okay, okay. Sorry. Good... morning." Great. Nice and awkward. Perfect. Just. Fantastic.

Suzume raised her eyebrows skeptically. "Ah, right- let's- head out, Megami." She squinted, a second, had the pillow just been thrown at something? She pulled it out from underneath it. "Wait, Megami? What's this?" Then, as she was about to flip it open, something occurred to her. This might be private! She quickly dropped it. "Never mind!! Let's just head out," she babbled quickly.

Nagisa Aoki's POV

Nagisa Aoki had fitfully slept that night, tossing and turning, as most people would be in such a situation if they slept at all. He'd only managed to force himself to sleep because if she didn't... how would she help everyone? And if she didn't... what good was she, then? Nagisa finally awoke then, to the loud, blaring announcement from Monokuma, at first, his eyes slowly fluttered open.

Then, her thoughts came flooding back, and determination filled her wide blue eyes, as he jolted out of bed. "Niwa! Amano!" Nagisa shook his two roommates awake. "I- oh my goodness. Wait. I'm sorry! I woke you so rudely! But, today... is really important." Nagisa clasped at his vest nervously, only just realizing as she did so that she'd been sleeping in her clothes... not that that really mattered in an urgent time like this.

"We need to head on out there to the cafeteria, and show everyone we can get out of here, together! S-So, will you two come with me?" he asked.

Suzume Fujimori's POV

Suzume Fujimori hadn't fitfully slept, at least not in terms of not sleeping much, for whatever reason... it's not that she wasn't anxious. She had dreamt, that night. She had dreamt... she was running. She was running, running, running, far away from something... "NO! I'M NOT LETTING YOU TAKE ME AGAIN!! NOT AGAIN!" she screamed, the air, leaving her lungs, panting, screaming hadn't been wise, shadows, catching up, catching up to her, catching-

Ah. It was a dream. How odd dreams were. In a school like this, though, she wouldn't be surprised if it were a reality. Something considerably confusing about her dreams were that she could almost feel the breath going from her lungs... She shook her head. Today was a new day. She approached Megami.

"Good morning, Megami," she told her roommate. "It's probably not a good idea to rest when anyone could try to kill you. Well- never mind, pretend I didn't say that! Oh! Well, let's just- head to the cafeteria, shall we? There will be plenty of people there, so, it might be best to just humor the announcement." She awaited her dormmate's response, ~~patiently...~~

Femi Davis's POV

"You know what you did." It was the figure again, it was her again... what did she want?! Femi Davis paled. But he was too shaken to ask. He tried to speak, but no words came out. He choked, he choked, he choked... he choked... he tried to scream, but no sound came out, tears welling in his eyes, fighting not to fall, down, down, down...

Femi awoke, gasping. He grabbed at his own neck, instinctively. He... he was breathing. That- was a relief. Then he paled again, glancing over at Suko. He wasn't sure if he could trust his dormmate, not at all. Could they really... be friends?

He wasn't so good at the friends thing. Part of him wanted to wake his "friend" up. But much more of him wanted to let him sleep... let him sleep, don't disturb him, don't let him-

Femi Davis slithered away and tried not to break down crying. Ugh, he had to stop doing that... he just couldn't trust this "Suko", or anyone here. He couldn't trust... anyone. Especially not...

Kowai Kurai's POV

Kowai Kurai hopped awake, sparks in her eyes and full of energy from her sleep. But as she jumped up, she allowed herself to narrow her eyes a moment. Ah. Yes. Hisoka.

Hisoka, who she wasn't so sure she liked. Oh, she'd kill him alright, if she could afford to. And the musician?... What was the name, Kunai? Oh, she seemed okay. A nervous wreck, though.
