Suzume Fujimori's POV

Suzume seemed rather calm and collected, although she breathed slightly heavily, in and out, in an attempt to gain her bearings. Slow, methodical steps… as she made her way to the board. She must remain calm. No matter what was on that board… she couldn’t panic.

Slowly, her eyes traveled across the board, scanning everyone’s secrets, and pondering what they could possibly mean. Slowly, reluctantly, her eyes made their way to hers…

You hit the jackpot in your life, but most people barely even end up a cog in the machine. Tell me, just how much is one willing to sacrifice to get to the top?

Well… that was… rather long. Suzume Fujimori started shaking and curled her fingers into tight fists. Hers might’ve seemed rather vague… it could’ve pointed to any number of things. But- she knew- exactly what it was referring to.

“What is this?” she murmured, trying to hide her shaky hands. “How… do they have this on us? How could they have known?...”

But how… how could they have known?

Femi Davis’s POV

Femi Davis, who was already pale and shaking all over, traumatized beyond belief by what had happened, struggled his way over to the bulletin board. He couldn’t even get there on his own two legs, and he collapsed onto his knees, scanning for…

Like a lamb to the slaughter. But could you have been both the lamb and the wolf?

“...O-Oh- so… that’s it? Th-th-that’s- that’s the secret… then… wh-wh-why is this- why is this- happening?” Calm down, calm down!!! They- might not realize… everyone else’s secrets are up there too…

Kowai Kurai’s POV

Kowai Kurai forced herself not to look nervous as she headed over to the bulletin board. Oh, she already had a feeling about what it was, but it didn’t mean she wanted anyone to see it. Gathering her bearings, she peeked over…

How much fuel can you add to the fire until everything goes up in smoke? And really, smoke can only hide so much…

So, that was what it was then.

“Soooo- um, these- these secrets aren’t real, right?” Kowai laughed. “I- mean, how would they get all of these on us, anyway, right everyone?” She tried to smile reassuringly at all of them. This could be quite problematic, indeed…

She narrowed her eyes. Secrets here for all of them. Including herself. Of course there had to be, that would be how it's work... Right?

Third-Person POV

On the bulletin board was not just the late Chika’s secret, but also the late Nagisa’s secret. Love can be very powerful, and do almost anything. But sometimes, no amount of it can be enough. Tragic, isn’t it?

Suzume pondered over Nagisa’s secret and wondered what it could mean. She also wondered if Nagisa would’ve been terrified for someone to find out about it… or would The Ultimate Romantic have shared that openly? She’d never know.

However, she did find herself drawn to Megami’s secret, perhaps to distract herself from her own. “Poor receiver, familiar history shall bring due justice.” …

What could it possibly mean? She wanted to approach Megami about it, but she certainly would most likely not be comfortable with sharing it. Especially not in front of so many people.

Suzume inhaled and exhaled deeply, once more. Alright. “So… everyone. I’m not the one in charge here, and I’m not going to act like I am.” She crossed her arms, her face deep in thought. “But- considering our situation, we need to decide what to do about it. Do we keep our secrets to ourselves? There would be potential for that to tear us apart. However, another issue is that some people might kill each other upon learning each other’s secrets… either way, this seems most difficult. Maybe the best course of action would be to not tell one another our secrets and to not wonder about anyone else’s. Otherwise… we might be driven to kill each other.”

She found her logic on this made sense… but… what if this idea caused more problems? “Thoughts, everyone?”

Femi Davis forced himself to stabilize. This was okay, this was okay… I mean… no one would- be crazy enough to kill each other over this, right? RIGHT? Nonono… he didn’t know these people!! But… he decided to make a suggestion of his own-

“There’s… 16 of us left, right? What if we always made sure that people were- at least in- groups of four? Th-that way, everyone’s less likely to get killed. B-Besides!! None of you- would- kill someone over just- some- secret on this board, right?” Oh, come on. He knew no one here well enough to be certain of that.

Suzume nodded. “That might be a good idea, at least, I think so. What do you all think?” She turned to look at Megami, Keiki, Hisoka, Nakata, Buraddo, and… everyone else. Everyone seemed quite shaken by what was on the board, unsurprisingly…

Kowai knew exactly what Hisoka's secret meant. What fascinating, superfluous wording. She also scanned the other secrets… Niwa’s stood out to her. It seemed rather brief, and, my, my. Like it could mean many different thi-

Oh, I think I might know what that's about...

She caught something of what Suzume was saying. “Huh? But why can’t we all share our secrets with each other?” she asked, puzzled.
Suzume sighed. “Well… there’s- also potential for that to go wrong. But thank you for sharing your opinion on it. So… in that case, would you be willing to share the meaning behind yours?”

Kowai’s face formed a pout. “Only if everyone else will! Otherwise, it doesn’t sound fair!”

Suzume narrowed her eyes. “...Right. Well then. Everyone… your thoughts?”

Femi was most definitely not willing to share his... he'd... he'd rather...

Suzume Fujimori's POV

Suzume blinked rapidly, over and over. "Megami . . . ? Are you okay? Why are you crying?..." She had to admit, somehow... she did feel upset about this. She glanced about the room, at everyone. Were they... breaking down over this?
But was it really worth crying over two almost strangers?...

Or . . . was she being...

She shook her head. This whole situation... was most terrifying and confusing...

Kowai Kurai's POV

Kowai almost looked startled as Hisoka stormed away. She narrowed her eyes. He was so weak. It was pathetic. Just look at him!

She hadn't thought he was this fragile, though... Huh. Such an odd person. It seemed all the people here were in shambles...

Femi Davis's POV

Femi looked startled at Suko's words. "I- I..." What was this side of them, that he was seeing?...
And... why was...
...Why was it selfish of him... to be scared?...
He hadn't known these people... and... To think...

Less than an hour ago, he'd been shouting at Suko... for their...

...

Was... he really... so-

He couldn't even bring himself to words, only into the elevator, trying to stifle his tears.

What was this? All he'd wanted...

All he'd wanted was...

Was to spend some time with... animals. And to... get money for...

...

Who knows if he'd ever see his family again. He didn't get how everyone was only just breaking down now...

Suzume Fujimori's POV

Suzume Fujimori sighed. Drat, she was acting so irrational today. Two people, who she'd barely known, had died. Why was this even a big deal? Inhale, exhale, pull yourself together. You're a scientist, the picture of logic, rationale, focus, intelligence.

She scanned the room. She supposed they'd all have to leave the trial room now?... Suzume looked at everyone's facial expressions. Shock, horror, sadness, pain, anger. Suzume tapped the rim of her glasses with a frown. Any of these people could be susceptible to kill. Most people would be pretty shaken if two people had died...

Even if most had barely known them. She made her way over to Megami, the only person she...

No. She couldn't assume such things. Certainly, in another time and place, she might've been able to call Megami that. But you couldn't trust most people. Especially not in a situation like this.

All that person had done for her was... well, she gave her something, that was all. And they both thought in similar ways. So maybe there was a slight connection there. And, they... probably wouldn't kill each other?

"Hey, Megami. How are you holding up?" she asked her "slightly possibly trustworthy" acquaintance. "That was... intense, wasn't it?"

Kowai Kurai's POV

"..." Kowai let her eyes travel the room. It seemed that all the people there were rather shaken. But she couldn't give up the optimistic act so easily.

She approached Hisoka. "Hey! I guess the answer... wasn't quite what you thought it was, huh? But chin up! I'm sure you'll get better at solving these cases with time!" Kowai put a hand on his shoulder, that might've seemed reassuring, except it was tightly gripping his shoulder. "After all, we wouldn't want to be stuck on a case, would we? That'd be horrible!"

It would be horrible, indeed... very, very horrible. Absolutely horrible!

Femi Davis's POV

Femi Davis immediately ran to the elevator. He didn't want to talk to any of these people!! He just... he had... he had to get far away... he had to get far away!!!

He banged on the elevator doors. "OPEN!! PLEASE!! Open!!" He... he couldn't be stuck in here, not with a bunch of potential murderers... two... two innocent people...

Had already died... Femi burst into tears. Why was this happening? Was this all... a horrible dream?

Suzume Fujimori's POV

Suzume watched the execution go down. She found that she couldn't look away. ". . ." She wasn't... that upset. But. This was most definitely disturbing to watch.

She'd seen worse, however... Slowly, she turned and glared at Monokuma. "Listen. You can't treat people's lives like meaningless toys, you ridiculous, poorly-designed stuffed bear! I-" What am I saying?... This shouldn't even be bothering me.

Suzume found herself going silent, at a loss for words. Why was she, of all people, afflicted so harshly by witnessing this? She paused, pondering the problem. Was the cause of death a disturbing one? Had she somehow cared for that girl, despite not knowing her? Did the idea of an experiment like this seem like too much?

Kowai Kurai's POV

Kowai Kurai glanced around at the surrounding people, seemingly harshly stricken by what had just happened. But Kowai most certainly wasn't. She decided, that she would have to play the optimist. Shaking, she spoke. "L-Listen, everyone!" she stammered. "We can't lose hope and kill each other! We can't let this tear us apart. We can't let... Nagisa and Chika's deaths... be in vain!" Whatchamacallit and What'shername? Who cares.

Femi Davis's POV

Femi was breaking down crying. And he found himself almost vomiting. He felt... faint... He turned to look at Keiki. "..." It seemed he wasn't the only one... who... was having such a hard time taking this. He heard Kowai's words. "Staying... positive? What good will that do? I'm gonna die! We're- we're all gonna die," he quickly added. "We have to be prepared... in case... something like this happens again," he whispered. "But we can't give up!" the girl chirped in response. "Come on, it's going to be okay!" "..." How could she be so optimistic?... (Narrator observation that Femi hadn't noticed: After all, the person who had previously acted like this was dead.)

Suzume Fujimori's POV

Was she sorry? Was she sorry though? Suzume couldn't help but wonder. "..." She wasn't sure what to think of this. Was this girl really going to die? Well... it was the price she'd have to pay, for what she did. But was it truly justified? And would... Suzume be willing to pay such a price in such a situation?

What had driven her... to do that?

Kowai Kurai's POV

Kowai let out a wail. "Ohhhh- my gosh!! This can't be! You- you killed Nagisa? You really killed her?! I can't believe this! How could you!?" She fell down onto her knees and sobbed.

Let's see how she's going to die. Kowai, secretly, for only a moment, let her eyes flick over to see Hisoka's frustrated expression. Ha! He'd really thought it was Amano.

Femi Davis's POV

". . ." He glanced over at Kowai, sobbing, on her knees at her podium. This situation... was... really messed up. And he wanted to cry too. But- it felt like such an overdramatic reaction, especially since she hadn't seemed to know Chika at all.

But Femi couldn't judge someone for being so emotional. He would've been, if Chika had been someone he knew. He still felt really bad... but somehow... he couldn't bring himself to cry. All he was doing, was... strangely, he found himself, absolutely still.

He glanced over at Keiki, and then at Chika. He decided to say the decent thing to say... that... Keiki had just said.

"Goodbye, Chika. I- didn't know you, but... I don't- think you deserve to die. I..."

He didn't know what else to say... what could he say?

Third-Person POV, because I'm too lazy to write separate POVs in this situation

A strange look came upon Suzume's face as she pulled the lever, and she started sweating. She hoped no one noticed... taking great care, she pulled the lever to vote for Chika. What could have motivated someone to act out in such a way? I know what would've motivated me.

Femi, having difficulty processing this, shook his head in dismay. "Th-this is so messed up," he whispered. But he had to vote... sighing, shaking, trembling, he reached for the lever... What- what if he was next? What if... the killings continued? He glanced over at Chika, his eyes glossing over. "I'm... sorry. I didn't know you, but- I'm sorry." His eyes filled with tears. Was this person really... going to die?

Kowai Kurai faked a look of reluctance as she pulled the lever. She thought back on what that girl had said... Oh. So she knows I'd do it then? Haha. Grand. Just grand. Hisoka really had thought that it'd have been Amano... what a laugh! And she'd known all along, hadn't it been obvious? But... she didn't like that. She didn't like Chika putting ideas in everyone's heads.

Oh, no, no, no, she certainly wouldn't want to kill anybody! That'd be so sad. So, so sad.

Suzume Fujimori's POV

Suzume's eyes widened. She'd never even noticed Chika, never even paid much attention to her... and now... it all made sense. Of course... there were many people here she'd never noticed. I killed Nagisa Aoki. Those four words echoed inside of her head, and she turned to stare at the killer before them. "Why did you do it?" Suzume asked, in a shaking voice.

What had driven... Chika to kill Nagisa?

Kowai Kurai's POV

"Aaaand there we go," Kowai said, a smirk plastered upon her face. "What d'ya know? She actually admits it. But- but- how- how could you kill Nagisa?!" Kowai whimpered dramatically. "I-I- don't- understand!" (Not completely fake at all.)

Femi Davis's POV

Femi Davis, for not the first time, that day, thought he was going to vomit. "Y-Y-Y-you... killed Nagisa?" There was... a killer among them. In this very room. And... she'd just... revealed herself. Just like that. "But- but- why?!" He hadn't known Nagisa, not at all! But... how... how had this person...

Motivated herself, to kill Nagisa? What had happened?... And... why was she admitting it? He clutched his chest, staring at her with wide-eyed shock. "How could you..."

Suzume Fujimori's POV

Suzume Fujimori pondered what Keiki, Kowai, Hisoka, and Megami had said... and turned to Chika. "They could've messed that detail up if they didn't know who was being talked about. Who was the person... who had that special condition... who was allergic to peanut oil." She sighed. "Unfortunately, even knowing that... can we properly deduce who it is?"

Kowai Kurai's POV

Kowai clapped her hands together loudly and giggled quietly to herself. Oh, now they were getting it. They were moments away from the truth!! This was so entertaining to watch!

Femi Davis's POV

Femi frowned to himself. "So... could... the killer have not wanted a specific person dead? I'm confused..." He glanced over at Kowai and bit down hard on his tongue... did she think this was all a game? Why was she laughing so hard? Was she implying there was something else they weren't getting?

What about this was amusing?!

He was surprised, really, that everyone... was so good at this. It was a life-or-death situation, but...

Keiki might've just led them all to the answer.

Kowai Kurai's POV

Kowai finally brought herself to stop laughing. "Okay, okay. Do you want to know what it is? Niwa pointed out that all three of the plates had peanut oil on them. Now tell me... why all three? Hm?" She tilted her head to one side, and clasped her hands together. I wonder if they can figure it out from there?

Suzume Fujimori's POV

"...I think... what Kowai's trying to say, is there's some reason it can't be Amano! It has something to do with the plates..." She was shocked, beyond belief, she'd never expected the girl to notice that... did... she know who killed Nagisa?

Femi Davis's POV

"But... what would it be about the plates that would prevent it from being Amano that would've done it?" Femi asked in confusion. "What... would it be..."

Kowai Kurai's POV

Kowai Kurai began laughing uncontrollably, and tears rolled out of her eyes. You idiots. You absolute idiots, she thought to herself. They've got it all wrong!! This is hilarious! Mmmm- should I tell them?
Well... if she didn't, she'd die, so... should she or shouldn't she?

Suzume Fujimori's POV

"...What's so funny?" Suzume snapped. "This isn't a laughing matter, someone got killed today." Even if I didn't really know her. Does... does this girl- know something we don't? "Tell me WHY you're laughing!"

Femi Davis's POV

Femi Davis's eyes widened. Oh no. Was- was this another sociopath?! But- it seemed like... Amano was the culprit. Was... was there something they were all missing here?

Suzume Fujimori's POV

"Too much of an optimist," she murmured. "For someone's taste, I think." Jeez...

She was agreeing a lot with Megami today, huh? A dark look came upon her face. But, for once... she figured she agreed with Hisoka here.

"Alibis, hm? Well, I..." She paused. "I was still heading out of the kitchen when Nagisa went to the table... of course, that doesn't prove I couldn't do it."

Kowai Kurai's POV

Kowai ignored Suzume's question. "You know... I just noticed something! Amano seemed rather close to Nagisa, hey? I think he'd notice if something was... different about her." She tilted her head even more. "Don't you all think so?" She frowned, pondering Amano's response. "Sooooo, you're not that good at that kind of thing? What do you mean exactly? Are you- are you good at murder?"

Femi Davis's POV

Femi groaned and glared even more angrily at Suko, WHO WAS IGNORING HIM. "I...I didn't even know Nagisa! I wasn't even in the cafeteria all morning! Even though I was hungry, and I wanted to go..." He shuddered. Totally would've killed him if they had the chance!? "SUKO, I AM SICK OF YOU AND YOUR TIRELESS BS! YOU- YOU WOULD HAVE KILLED NAGISA- IF YOU'D GOTTEN THE CHANCE!?! EVEN IF YOU'RE JOKING, THAT'S JUST SICK! IF THIS WAS ALL YOUR FAULT SOMEHOW, I WOULDN'T BE SURPRISED!" Femi panted, out of breath from all the yelling, and collapsed onto his podium, gripping it tightly. Ugh... he hated this so much. He was so useless. He swore to himself he'd never let himself get stuck inside of his dorm room ever again because of some idiot. AND HE WOULD NEVER ASSOCIATE WITH SAID IDIOT EVER AGAIN!

Suzume Fujimori's POV

Suzume sighed. "This is... a dumb idea. But. Everyone, who was in the kitchen, state your opinions on Nagisa." What am I doing... no one can be trusted not to lie. But, maybe... the killer will let something slip. "I didn't know Nagisa very well, I barely even knew her name... I had no reason to kill her, and her death definitely does disturb me. She was no friend of mine, but I had no reason to kill her."

Kowai Kurai's POV

Kowai Kurai scowled. "But Amano's the killer!!! Ugh. Okay, Amano. Tell us why you're so innocent! I'm really curious to hear!" she chirped, her face innocent and curious.

But she knew... they were all on the wrong track.

Should she help them?

Why should she care?

Femi Davis's POV

"Great, now I actually know a small detail." Femi groaned. "If only I'd actually gotten out of the room today... IF SOMEONE HADN'T KEPT ME IN THERE!" He glared in Suko's direction. "NOT NAMING NAMES!"

Suzume Fujimori's POV

Suzume Fujimori thought about it a moment. "He did seem genuinely surprised, and I think he would've made a point of handing it to Nagisa, unless he thought perhaps Nagisa was nice enough to take the plate from him?"

She nodded in agreement at Megami. "Yes. We need to find the person who really did it. Even if it means, I guess, uh... killing another person?"

Kowai Kurai's POV

Kowai's face took the form of a pout. Ugh! That's what she was going to point out. "Exactly! How do you know it was 'genuine' surprise, as you call it?" she asked, tilting her head. You really know how to get on my nerves, huh, Hisoka?

Femi Davis's POV

Femi Davis thought for a moment. "Who was in the kitchen? I... wasn't even in the cafeteria all morning, so, I need to know."

Great... he was beyond useless here...

Suzume Fujimori's POV

Suzume almost burst out laughing at Buraddo's comment, before inhaling and restraining herself. No. No. No laughing. This was a serious matter. She heard it, then, someone throwing an accusation at her.

Her eyes widened. "You think I killed her? I didn't even know her all that well. You make a good point, I- would've known about poisons. But what motive do I have?" But, then she realized something else. She was one of the people who was cooking... "I admit... I am a potential suspect. But I swear, I didn't kill her!"

Suzume nodded at Megami's observation. "Would anyone who didn't cook have been able to kill Nagisa? I find it unlikely, but I was wondering if there's any way it could've been possible. It seems like the poison was cooked into the food, right?"

Or was that just an assumption? Suzume sighed in frustration. She didn't know if she was reasoning by her own logic or actual evidence.

She swallowed, nervously... so, someone thought she'd killed Nagisa, huh?

It's not that she wouldn't. But she had no reason to.

Kowai Kurai's POV

Kowai Kurai glanced in Hisoka's direction, once again. "Wait, are you saying that you suspect Megami did it? Clearly Amano is suspicious! Why, just look at him right now! Seriously. This is so dumb, that we are still debating this right now. Wasn't it Amano's dish, that Nagisa took?"

Femi Davis's POV

Femi bit his tongue. "I'm sorry... I don't- actually care about the nails," he admitted. "And, I didn't know Nagisa, at all. But. I still hope that we can avenge his death, because... she seemed like a great person. She didn't deserve this..."

Suzume Fujimori's POV

"..." Suzume looked thoughtful a moment, closing her eyes and her mouth. "The poison," she murmured to herself thoughtfully.

Was that the key to this mystery?

Or was there something else?

She considered carefully what the bear had said. "May I see the Monokuma File?" she asked in a nonchalant voice.

She paused, and glanced at Buraddo. "I highly doubt this is going to be a traditional court case, my good acquaintance."Wait... did we meet? Ah, whatever.

Kowai Kurai's POV

Kowai Kurai scanned the room. "Okay! Let's... begin the debate! Monokuma, can I have my Monokuma File?"

She frowned at Hisoka. What was it he was thinking?... Did he have an idea about who did it?

The sly little- He might. He might not.

Femi Davis's POV

Femi raised his eyebrows in concern. "Um... are your nails okay?" he asked awkwardly. Why do nails matter at a time like this, he wondered. We're literally all going to die. He was also rather concerned about their nonchalant reaction.

Boo-hoo. Everyone gets killed.

Isn't that a terrible thing?

Suzume Fujimori's POV

Suzume glanced over at Megami with a sigh. "Well... I have a number of theories about what went down in each particular event. But that's all they are, theories, I don't have much for evidence."

Dang it...

Would they have enough evidence? And would theorizing possibly be enough?

Kowai Kurai's POV

"Come on, guys! Let's find- and avenge- Nagisa's killer!" Kowai Kurai chirped enthusiastically. "So, what do we know?"

You could all die for all I care. She glanced in Hisoka's direction...

Femi Davis's POV

Femi glanced over at Keiki. Who was that? He didn't catch that person's name. Oh, right, the person he tried to talk to earlier. He sighed.

"This is... pretty crazy, isn't it? I don't even know anything about what happened!" Hopefully... he could manage to help out, somehow.

Suzume Fujimori's POV

As Suzume walked into the room, she noticed something disturbing. There were podiums for each student, but one of the empty ones... bore a portrait... a portrait of a familiar face, someone who had died quite recently...
Nagisa Aoki. The owner of that podium, would never arrive in the room.

This sent a chill through her.

Kowai Kurai's POV

Kowai Kurai made her way to her podium, smiling semi-confidently. She couldn't look too happy, or too terrified. Couldn't let either happen...

She watched the others, as they made their way into the room.

Femi Davis's POV

Femi spotted the portrait, and he thought he'd actually vomit. Was... that what happened? Whenever someone died? In this room?

Were they all going to die? WAS HE GOING TO DIE!? Focus. Focus.

He needed to focus...

Suzume Fujimori's POV

Suzume shivered and glanced over nervously at her friend. "We tried our best, we'll just have to hope that we've gathered enough evidence." But if I'm being honest... we've hardly gathered any evidence. We're probably all as good as dead... dang it. Maybe we can get the killer to expose themselves somehow...

She inhaled and narrowed her eyes, before stepping into the elevator. Her expression filled with determination.

Kowai Kurai's POV

Kowai Kurai gasped dramatically. "Oh no! We ran out of time! This is awful!" She hugged herself tightly, her eyes wide in pure, utter, undeniable terror! "I-It's okay! We're going to figure this out somehow!" I'm not dying today.

She made her way inside the elevator. Although she looked absolutely terrified, she wasn't at all afraid.

Femi Davis's POV

Femi Davis grimaced, and squirmed away from Suko. "Um... uh... yeah. Of course." He went almost absolutely, positively still. He felt like he was going to vomit, even though he was so hungry...

He was dead. He was as good as dead. He didn't come here to die!

No. He had to pull himself together. Inhaling, but shaking, he got to his feet. He had to help everyone find the solutions to this problem.

He finally forced himself, to step inside the elevator...

Suzume Fujimori's POV

Suzume nodded. "That's a good plan, Megami. So then... Buraddo?" She tapped the student on the shoulder. "Do you have any legal files on it?" Anxiously, Suzume bit her lip and brainstormed the possibilities within her mind. Who could the killer be? She didn't know most people well here.

Who would hold such a grudge against Nagisa, as to want her dead? Unless there was no grudge? Was it suicide, maybe? Unlikely. Nagisa’s last words hardly seemed like someone expecting to die.

He was quite clearly shocked upon her death. Tragic, she thought, that the last thing he did before he died was complimenting his possible killer’s cooking.

She couldn’t assume that he had done it, of course. She had to be thorough in this investigation, after all. The seconds were ticking down…

Could it have been an accident? People seemed annoyed at Nagisa, at most. Not enough to kill him.

It didn’t seem rational to kill Nagisa, unless she was just a place-holder victim? Did it matter who the victim was?

Was there anything about the victim?
