Well to me every artist should watermark their art but obviously not all do. I don't think just because you don't watermark an image doesn't make it public property. Also writing a name is much less effective since it could essilt be erased. (Sorry for that random statement XD)

Thank you and agreed C: I think avatars and signatures can't really be protected against 100% since it's just an image your using yourself. It's just the for profit part that bugs me the most ^^

Of course there is a risk to everything, but people do make money (virtual currency) off the signatures and avatars that are made from other's art. Also I agree with advertising people's art as a good thing but like I said, most of the time they're not credited so what good would it do if nobody knows who drew it? Also I've never played PFQ, or even taken a look at it before.

Haha, by this logic this site shouldn't even exist then either. But nintendo is credited and also pokemon/fan base things are so recognizable that it be a given that the characters do not belong to you.

If you use "search google for this image" you'd probably be able to find the very first time the image was posted on the internet. This was lying could be avoided and I'm only really centering this towards what happens in the "fanmades" area not really avatars and such. I just put some questions up to get more feedback on what people think.

Thanks for your comments ^^. Also I don't get why you wouldn't like people watermarking their work of art? It's like if you bring your water bottle to school and you write your name it so people know it's yours and not to be confused with someone else's or to return it to you if it gets lost/stolen.

This suggestion is mainly regarding the Fanmades section of pokeheroes. Please read this whole post (yes even if it is long) before posting your opinion I would appreciate it!

So as you all know many users have posted their own "art shops", "avatar, signature etc. shops" and the like (myself included). As an artist I've been concerned recently about the "art theft" happening on this site.

You may be thinking "what there's thieves on this site?!" or maybe that "What's an art thief??" well allow me to explain.

Art thief: Someone who edits, redistributes, renders, claims, copies, edits, references, an artwork in anyway that does not belong to them.

And so with this definition, it's basically saying you're stealing art and selling it off again as you weren't the one to originally draw it.

Well let's see.... So I'll use a scenario to explain it to you...

So about a week ago the user Novasplitz commissioned me to draw their pokemon OC. So, I did and I posted it up on the internet not merely to get an image hosting site but also to get more exposure as an artist on the web.

But that's not the point. Say if I went on a different site and I found that "hey that avatar looks awfully familiar! I think that I drew that picture!" And so, I investigate and find that I did indeed draw it but let's say "Person B" was using it as a signature of his or even worse manipulating other images of mine and making them into signatures for other people.

So then as an artist I would think "hey, I drew that for Novasplitz not for that person."
This causes problems as Novasplitz did pay me a fair sum of money to draw the OC, so why should someone else be able to use the same image for free? Also I would be quite upset if someone edited my drawings without my permission. That's because I didn't give them permission since it's my drawing and also knowing it was a commission and someone else's character I would feel like that would be quite disrespectful to my customer.

If I found out someond paid them to get an images and turn it into an avatar/signature I would think: "hey! Why is this person getting paid for something that they didn't even draw?? Why should I even spend hours drawing when all someone else does is slap a word on it and then resell it???"

Anyways try feeling empathetic towards the artist who spends hours drawing only to have their art stolen.

Well, my suggestion in short is simply to ban "art theft" from this site and add this to the site rules.

So what does this mean for pokeheroes' users?
This means that you would be no longer allowed to make signatures, repost drawings or the like in the fanmade section that are not original. Meaning if you did not draw the picture you're not allowed to use it, unless you have asked the artist for permission to edit their images.

This sounds like you're out to get the people who have these sort of threads....
I'm not. I'm trying to get this community to appreciate those artists who have worked on their pieces and would not like their art stolen. This is also because nobody seems to credit where they got the images from, which seems like the bare minimum to me to at least acknowledge you didn't draw the art.

Also I haven't mentioned any names, this thread is directed to the public.

What about the rest of the site? Such as avatars that weren't made by users?
This is though, for me to say since I don't make the rules here. Which is why I said this topic is up for debate. I mean even I use a avatar pic that I didn't draw so I may sound like a hypocrite, but in general I think that this really is only significant to the fanmades forum for people who edit art.

So here's some discussion questions for you all:
Do you think banning art theft is a good idea?
Do you think this should be implemented to the whole site (e.g. then pokeheroes would have to provide avatars for you.)?
Should fanmades be a place for original arts and sprites only?
Is it okay to edit pictures as long you source the image?
So art theft... Yay or Nay?

	Actually anything you hatch has a chance of being shiny not just pokemon you breed in the daycare or chain. It's just that you'd probably have to hatch a lot of the same kind (even without pokeradar) to finally obtain one. [Read more]

Well I'm pretty sure the more tasks you complete in the dream world shop adds to your dream level. Each time you level up it increases the amoun of DP you can get from the same kind of task. Right now I'm level 4 and I can claim up to 42 DP in a hour. I think even for a level 4, that's a lot of DP.

I don't think more tasks are really nessacary since you can get over 800 DP in day at the level you're at right now.

So I don't know how many of you have heard of "flagging" but the basic concept is that you essentially "flag" something that you don't like and that person/admin will be aware of it (depending on the situation).

I think this would be particularly useful for trading. The concept is that if you see a unfair trade in the GTS or Gem Exchange you can press a button to flag it and let the person who set up that trade to know if they're asking for too much or too little. After around 10 flags? the trade would be taken down automatically to promote fairness of all users.

Benefits: Users would be able to know the value on their trades to make them more fair for both sides especially newbies who don't know the value of things.
People who make many unfair trades in per say the gem exchange would have their trades taken down so others can see actual valid trades.
Ultimately reducing some of the clutter created in trading.

Sample:

Person A sets up a gem exchange trade, per say "offering 5 grass gems looking for 100 normal gems in return".
Person B browses through the gem exchange and sees this unfair offer, he/she decides to flag the trade. Menu appears with "select reason for flagging" 2 options? ----> Trade is unfair for the person who offers, Trade is unfair for person who set it up.
Person A receives notification: Ex. "Someone has flagged your trade! (link to trade inserted) Their reason for flagging was "unfair for the person who offers". Once your trade has been flagged 10 times it will be removed! This is your first flag."
Other people flag this trade until 10 limit is met.
Person A received notification: "Your trade was flagged ten times, therefore it has been taken down in the gem exchange."

But polls can be a useful tool as well, it just depends how it used by the people who play Pokeheroes.

I like the idea of polls in forums since if it's an important topic/subject it'll be readily available and people can give their opinion without posting countless times. But this is already half implemented since the forums for suggestions include the options of support, don't support and neutral in them. Although, this is automatically done when you post a new thread and also you don't get to put your own options.

For example, a sprit shop could have a poll of how much people would pay for such as the one shown (insert example pic here) and then put some values down such as 1-5k PD, less than 1k, 5-10k, 10k+ Etc. so in this sense I think I would be convenient and helpful. ;) I would also love if polls could be more elaborate then the ones on your profile such as: selecting multiple options, public poll (being able to see who voted in each category), adding your own choice (for voter).

But I don't really support that we need them everywhere such as your signature, it doesn't seem to have a point being their anyways since your sig is the space you get for advertising and as well as just putting misc. things such as widgets.

Well, in correspondence to your second post I don't think there's a strong correlation between clicks(thus views) and popularity. That's because it's probably how long a topic has been around that makes it popular and that many people post and view it. For example, I'll use my art thread it's been around for a bit so it has around 150 posts I only update it when I have new things to post in it and I don't really mind that others don't comment on it (mostly because I prefer to talk over pal pad about commissions). Even though the topic has many clicks it doesn't mean I get 150 orders of art. \r\n\r\nThat's similar to the trade topics people will view a topic to see what's in it, but won't post unless they're interested.\r\n\r\nAlso I don't see the point of PMing someone who's viewing it, most likely if they want something they'll post about it :)

I think that's pretty similar to viewing a thread, since your have to click it to view it right? Also, I don't see how being able to see who's viewing a thread currently would be any help. Sorry for the very late reply!

As you can see I'm having trouble being the most active around here on Pokeheroes even with a bunch of free time I have. The commission was a bit too much since it was four characters, I might draw 2 chibis max at a time since it's fair less time consuming so sorry about that!

I also only draw when I am stressed or have free time, and it takes more time for me to do your commission so if I can't finish it I feel quite guilty about it.

Payment:
After I accept your commission, I will prompt you send the PD/nuggets over. You must pay full amount in advance. I do not usually do refunds, if I personally feel like I am taking too long on it and am not close to finishing I will give you a refund. Under normal circumstance I do not do refunds

Image Accreditation:
Using an image of mine without credit and/or permission is considered art theft. I will report you for this. This includes, reposting, editing, rendering, and claiming, the picture. (Unless you are the person who commissioned the drawing)

To prevent this from happening please ask me if you want to use one of my images and what for. If you have a commissioned an art from me that art is yours, you may use it however you wish as long as credit is given.

To random strangers that want to use my work the answer is most likely no. Almost all of my works are commissions or personal art.

How to Credit
To credit my as an artist, I just require a sentence and a link to my page and/or art shop! It's fairly simple. (Internally on Pokeheroes.com) bbcode for it is [*url= url goes here] words in the hyper link here [*/url] (remove the stars)

Sorry I wouldn't really support this because of the following reasons:

1. I don't really think the pokemon you send makes a difference unless it for something such as the map locations where they require high level pokemon to beat the boss.

2.If you canceled a rumble mission I would assume it would the be same as using the item (the map) since once you embark on it the map gets used. So I don't think it would get refunded anyways.

3.If you're trading that pokemon away battling or trading you could always wait until it's done and then trade it or battle the person ^^

I think that pokemon are easy to get actually. To find new pokemon just adopt them from the lab, and if you're looking for specifics we have the Trade station, Auction house and also several user shops .

Also I find this suggestion poorly developed as not all pokemon are yet released on Pokeheroes. So I would like to think there would restrictions on what pokemon you do get anyways. For example, legendaries would probably be not just gifted out to premium members that aren't even available yet haha. That would leave normal members at a disadvantage as well not being able to obtain these pokemon.
