Prologue:

DarkClan was once a peaceful Clan known as FireClan. A Clan that was horrifically ravaged by flame, where the trees never returned. Thankfully, there was a river with a plentiful supply of fish (similar to RiverClan). Since then, all had been well. Had been. A loner known only as the Black Cat - a black she-cat barely the size of an apprentice - demanded FireClan's territory be hers, or they would be destroyed.
FireClan thought nothing of the Black Cat. But then the cat struck the leader down - dead with one blow. The wind was blowing and FireClan didn't know it until it was too late - over twenty cats sprang through the deadened forest, covered by what was left of the bushes and marshes of the land. In close to an instant - every single cat of FireClan - kits, elders, warriors and queens - were dead.
FireClan, now known as DarkClan, were readying themselves to take over the entire forest. They were ready... until the Black Cat had a kit.

There are four Clans in the great, leafy forest: BushClan, DarkClan, SmokeClan and GrassClan. BushClan and DarkClan's hostility begins to rise when a presumed DarkClan kit is taken in by BushClan. As Speckledpaw continues to grow, DarkClan forces the other two Clans to join with them or be destroyed.
