Chapter One: Never.
I had never been what people like you would describe as 'normal'.
Never had I experienced the so-called torture of school. Never had I ventured to a park. Never, even, had I met my parents, let alone another human being. I didn't miss it, for how could one miss something one never had.
Though, I must say, I experienced a rather rough childhood.
I was created in an incubator, so I'm told. My mother had passed five weeks prior, but they managed to salvage me from her corpse; a painful endeavour which I remember most vibrantly. My father had abandoned my mother upon learning of her pregnancy, and hadn't been seen since. During my removal, my bone structure was severely damaged, to say the least - as was my brain. I was kept in an incubator for seven years, through six of which I was awake, unable to open my eyes, clinging on through unbareable pain. Looking back at it, I realise how foolish I was - giving up would have made my life so much less.. Complicated.
On my eighth birthday, I was released, and passed out immediately afterwards due to an overload of senses. Seeing as I had been trapped in an amber-like substance for the beginning of my life, the sounds and feelings of the world stunned me; hardly an action you can blame me for.
Upon awaking, I found myself once again bound to an abyss. A cold, hard substance chafed my ankles, wrists and neck, though at the time I knew not what that meant. Focusing on my foot, I attempted to shift it, even an inch - no luck. I continued these attempts until eventually I managed something - a small shuffle to the left. Good progress for someone that had never moved.
Slowly, I worked the focus throughout my body, until I was sure I had control of my limbs. How long this took I cannot recall, though I suspect it was over two hours. Quite honestly, I don't remember much of what came after that. I attempted to speak, but found my mouth gagged by a rather foul strip of cloth.
Fully opening my eyes took at least another day; adjusting to the light was a tedious task, no matter how little there was.
And so, a day later, I examined my position. I was in a dank, square room, with concrete walls and floor. There were no furnishings; only a flickering bulb on the ceiling, and a concrete slab on the wall opposite me, which I assumed was a door. For some reason, I appeared to be chained to a wall by my hands, feet and neck, with my knees planted on the floor. Quite a bothersome position; I wouldn't recommend it.
I then tried to look at myself, but was unable to as the neck peice dug into my chin.
So I decided to use the only thing I had access to - my mind.
I hadn't done anything unlawful to leave myself here - in fact, I hadn't done anything at all. A new thought appeared at the forefront of my brain. How did I know what law was? And the door, how did I know about that? Perhaps I had some sort of information planted into my brain, or I did have a past, but had forgotten most details from it.
Judging by my current state, either of those were possible.

Having heard the male voice exit the tent, Jake had also left, seeing no further need to continue eavesdropping - besides, he had heard enough. He caught a glimpse of the boy as he swept back to his tent; a boy he recognised as loyal to the Masked Man, which made him snarl. Nobody should yeild to that cowering shrimp of a being.
After returning to his tent, Twelve had spent the night pacing, pondering the ways in which escape would be possible. Climbing the fence was off-limits. Digging under it would take too long. Flying over it.. well, Jonathan didn't know anyone that could fly. And teleporting- Jake froze. No, teleporting wouldn't work.
At the first sign of light, he practically ran outside, despite having not slept at all; the excitement was plenty enough to wake him up. His eyes scoured the area, searching for anyone that looked as if they were trying to hide a conversation. His eyes narrowed at a group of teens, whom he took a step towards, before hearing words from behind him that sent his heart tumbling; 'get out of here'. Immediately he turned, and found himself facing a group of three girls. Oh, great. No better way to ruin his reputation, though he figured it was worth the risk.
He strode up to them and stood several feet away, listening to the rest of their conversation. Evidently, they hadn't seen him yet.
"So you're escaping?" He asked, quirking an eyebrow, a smile tugging at his lips.

Holding his breath, twelve plodded to the flap which had come to be his door, every muscle in his body tense - though whether that was with excitement or terror, none could tell. Gently pulling aside the flimsy fabric, his chocolate eyes scoured the landscape, searching for the guards; several meters to his left, having just passed him. Letting out a sigh, he sunk back into his home, allowing himself to close his eyes.
Having heard a commotion outside, Jake's curiosity had somewhat overcome him, urging him to explore. He had seen a pair of people unexpectedly dash into a single tent - a late night meeting of some sort, perhaps - and was rather perplexed as to what on Earth they were doing. Before he'd had a chance to find out, the guards had appread within his vision and he, too, had quickly scrambled inside his tent.
Now that the guards were gone, twelve had no choice but to investigate. He sped from his tent and leapt around the corner, now hidden behind the soldier-like row of huts. Turning his right ear towards the camp, he strained to listen to each in turn, before eventually hearing voices from inside one - a male and a female, neither of which he recognised. Smirking a little, he leaned forwards, listening into their conversation, but even then he heard only a few words - 'Masked Man.. fate.. meet up.. create a rebellion.' The words lit a certain spark in his eyes, inducing him to listen for longer, as he did.

Eʂɱҽɾҽʅԃα

Actually taking the signal for once, Esmerelda skipped after her sister, humming quietly to herself and waving goodbye to the jester and knight. Upon reaching her sister she slowed to a walk once more, turning to face the younger princess.
"What was it you wanted to talk to me about, then?" She asked, brining her hair around one shoulder as she walked, noticing several surrounding people watching her and her sister. As Princesses, they were rather noticeable, what with their tiaras and fine dresses. She waved at a few, enjoying the excitement in the air for the circus - there was so little entertainment that had come to the town recently, tonight would be a welcome treat for everyone.

Name: Jonathan 'Jake' Spires
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Description: Standing at 6' already, Jake supports a steady, well-built frame, with broad shoulders and a slim waist. His auburn hair is unkempt and wild, with soft, flat spikes that hang over his forehead. He has a strong jaw and large, mud-brown eyes that always suggest a certain fury, but contains it with ease, instead painting them with laziness. An arrogant smile completes his high-school jock-like look, along with his sculpted arms and legs. His casual clothing consists of an orange t-shirt underneath red and black undone checker shirt, whilst his lower half is covered by fresh denim jeans.
Personality: A relaxed soul, Jake feels most at home when out with friends or at home. He lacks most intellectual advantages, due to his dyslexia, but makes up for what he has lost with instinctive kindness and tactical application of force. He finds communicating with others easy, and has taught himself how to read body language extremely well, so tends to know how to make someone feel better - which he does often. He believes that everyone deserves a second chance, but will deliver punishment fairly.
Ability: Teleportation. He can teleport himself, though he is rather scared of doing so, and objects or other people, but these take much more energy, leaving him drained after very few jumps.
Alliance: Revolution.
Number: 12

Name: Taniwha Puku, but she goes by Tani.
Age: 14
Gender: Female
Description: Tani has a petite build, with long, spindly arms and legs, and a carefully pointed chin. Her volumous brutenne hair ends in dyed red wisps at the small of her back, whilst her line-cut fringe hangs over her forehead and often droops into her eyes, which are bright emerald green with long eyelashes. She has an almost shy and scared demeanour, with hunched shoulders and a hanging head.
Personality: Tani is rebellious in her own right, often undermining her leader in favour of a more violent route. She sees the world as an impurity that must be cured; if it weren't for humankind, Earth would have continued its natural selection, and peace would reign. It is because of this that her heart has turned bitter and unforgiving; she will carry out any tasks mercilessly, without hesitation.
When she's not trying to kill people, Tani is rarely noticed. She prefers to blend into the background, which she does with ease.
Ability: Concealed within her mouth are six spiked tentacles, each of which are around three meters long and as strong as any man. These eject as soon as her mouth is opened, so she is mute. These tendrils do not affect her appearance, though they do affect other things; each breath she takes sounds raspy, and she is unnaturally heavy as the tentacles weigh her down, which also makes her rather slow.
Alliance: Masked Man
Number: 27
I know her ability seems rather overpowered, but I figured that lacking stealth and speed and not being able to speak would make up for that. if you want be to make them less overpowered, I can tone it down a bit :D

A cool breeze set Ebony's skin shivering, carrying with it the scent of Brooklyn - sewage and fast food, for the most part. Letting loose a gentle sigh and shouldering her bag, the godling started the trek home, following several other magicians that she recognised. The already setting Sun washed her surroundings in a calming yellow light, forming a light smile on her face.
"Hey, guys!" She called, jogging to catch up to the group. They turned, greeting her with friendly smiles and raised hands. Rather loudly they each talked about their day at school, quickly arriving at the mansion.
Once inside, the Bast follower sat on her bed, humming and grooming her hair whilst scanning her room for any rodents. The things were everywhere, despite Ebony's constant attempts to rid the mansion of them. Several shouts and bangs could be heard through her door as the occupants of the house arrived from school. The ruckus from downstairs occurred every week day, so Purrs had come to hiding in her room upon her arrival; her cat-like hearing often amplified the noise to the point of screaming, so she avoided it by any means possible.
Once she had again changed changed into her casual clothes, she sped to the balcony, flattening her ears with her hands. Still humming, she pulled up a chair and sat backwards on it, facing the Brooklyn harbour and watching Philip of Macedonia send small waves over the brim of the pool. This was her usual position until dinner - by herself, enjoying only the soothing melody of late-night Brooklyn.
