Lava Cookie

It was a bright and clear morning in Marvellous Dreams. The sky was cloudless and filled with many possibilities. The sun’s rays shone brightly on the landscape. Everywhere, animals were hopping, fluttering, and walking from place to place. A few young Flavians snuggled in their nest, fast asleep on one of the branches of the Creation Tree.

Well, they used to be fast asleep. A naughty male purple Caudinae had snuck inside their nest, letting out its full wing span and scaring the poor Flavians away with its shadow. Up on a higher branch, a girl with a blue and black jester hat, blue face paint and long wavy brown hair snickered. “Good job Caudinae! That was hilarious!” The Caudinae grinned mischievously and they both laughed.

“Nocturna! Get back here! Stop scaring those poor Flavians!” The voice came from a girl sitting on a patch of grass located at the bottom of the Creation tree. She had a white top hat on, adorned with beautiful flowers and a red stash that went with her pants and suit. She had brown hair like her sister, Nocturna, which went up to her shoulders. While scolding her younger sister, she had placed her teacup filled with rich jasmine tea on the white stone table besides her.

Nocturna grinned and shouted, “Never!” and started to climb higher. Her sister, Diana let out a huge sigh and said to herself, “I guess I should’ve seen that coming, she never listens does she?” She made a mental note to watch over Nocturna.

On another branch of the Creation Tree sat a cute girl with wavy brown hair like Nocturna and Diana. She also had a jester hat like her. Her outfit consisted of a green shirt with a red ribbon by the neck and by the waist. She had a pretty green and orange skirt on. She patted the Flavians that Nyx, her nickname for Nocturna, and Caudinae had just been scared and murmured, “There, there, you can calm down now.”

The Flavians soon calmed down under Lilly’s touch and flew up to their nest again. Lilly giggled as a few petals from their wings landed in her hair. On the bottom of the tree a white deer-like creature, an Eladhirk, grunted. He disliked his friend being somewhere he couldn’t reach and where he couldn’t play with her.

“Don’t worry. She’ll be fine,” Diana told Ehik, while keeping an eye on Nocturna. The Flavian next to her, which was wearing a blue scarf, let out chirps that sounded like she was saying, “I agree! We’ll never let anything happen to her!” Ehik let out a huff but stopped pawing.

“Diana, I’d like to come down please. I wouldn’t like to worry Ehik,” Lilly told her sister.

“Of course,” Diana said with a smile as her attention adverted to Lilly. She put down her cup of tea on the table and kneeled down to wake her sleeping friend, another deer-like creature, a Galxea. “Galxea, do you mind carrying Lilly down from the tree branch?”

Galxea let out some sleepy noises and shook her head to get rid of sleepiness. She nodded and leapt up the tree branch Lilly was on. Lilly wrapped her arms around Galxea, laughing as the ribbons on her tickled her face. Before she had a strong grip, a shriek came from above. Caudinae! Lilly, who was a bit shocked by the noise, lost her grip on Galxea and fell down ward. Ehik reacted fast and ran below her, catching her from her fall. Ehik lost his footing from the impact and Lilly rolled onto the ground.

Galxea quickly pranced over to them, letting her healing aura activate. Lilly and Ehik didn’t have serious injuries, thank goodness, Diana thought, and Galxea could heal them easily.

“Sorry!” A voice came from above, “Caudinae got scared!” Nocturna spoke from above.

While Lilly had fallen, Diana hadn’t seen what Nocturna had been doing. It should be alright, she told herself, what big thing could’ve happened during those few minutes?

“Alright!” Diana replied, “Is Caudinae fine?”

“Yes!” Nocturna answered.

“Lily, Ehik, are you guys alright?” Diana looked back to Lily.

“Yup!” Lilly nodded and Ehik let out a grunt.

“Let’s all head home ok? I’m sure we all had enough fun for today,” Diana told the others.

“Sure! I’ll say goodbye to everyone,” Lily bounced up and down, as energetic as before.

“Just wait for me to climb down from here!” Nocturna replied as she began climbing down. Nocturna was quite skilled at tree climbing, but Diana still kept an eye on her, just in case. Nocturna soon scrambled down from the closest branch to the ground, as her Caudinae buddy flew to her shoulder. Diana nodded and turned, “Bye, Gaxlea!” Gaxlea nodded her head in a farewell as the three sisters turned to go home. Diana and Lilly would like nothing more than to take a nice nap, but Nocturna however, had other plans.

At night, she thought. At night she would go to the Creator Tree again to see what she had truly discovered—while Diana and the others had been too occupied because Caudinae had been “scared” to watch her. She felt a bit guilty for making Lilly fall, but she knew Lilly wouldn’t suffer from it. The branch she had been on was only a few feet from the ground, and Gaxlea was a healer. Ehik and Lilly would both be fine. “Thanks buddy,” she whispered quietly, so quietly that only the purple Caudinae could hear. Caudinae made some quiet muffled noises. She couldn’t understand it, but she knew that they were both excited to find out what that luminous, shimmering rainbow orb had been, hidden quite cleverly inside a tree hole.
