Lem shook her head slightly, shivering at the remembrance of the devastated land. She was about to ask Dee about her travels when a slither of something dark rose from the kingdom.

The pink cookie was facing the kingdom, more bruised and burnt then ever. Lem felt a pang of sympathy for the girl, half hoping that her shop was still standing. "Dee, do you mind if we go inside?" Lem pointed to the girl and then the kingdom.

Cato opened the door to the Coffee shop and glanced around. It was pretty quiet, except from a customer talking to the bartender. By the looks of it, she had just missed the serving slot. Flicking back lock of blond-ish hair, she sat herself on the bar stool and pulled the menu towards her, her blue eyes darting around the page.

Mango and Passion fruit Bubble Tea.. Hazelnut Peppermint.. Mint Mocha and then all the other classic drinks like Black Coffee and Espresso

Hmm. Decisions, decisions. Well she was lacking energy and whilst caffeine would do the trick, sugar was her craving. Specifically sugary fruit. Bubble Tea. “Mind if I order the Mango and Passionfruit Bubble Tea?”

A faint sound, which could only be other cookie’s talking, floated out towards her as she approached the door. Lem struggled and gripped her hand around the wrist of the cookie’s in an attempt to be released. But at the sound of another cookie defending herself against a Cake Monster, she dropped her grasp and started to run, following the cookies. “Cake Monsters? They’re supposed to be gone.. the kingdom has fallen.”

She let herself turn her head towards the battling cookie, who had done some form of damage to those creatures and was now moving in the same direction as they were going. Questions after questions clouded her mind, causing her to trip at least twice. Why were the Cake Monsters here? Why did the pink cookie go back for then when she could easily save herself? Was the cookie who was fighting alright? But Lem narrowed it down to one: “Where are we going?”

Lem blinked and turned to face the cookie after the disappearance of the other to, most likely, investigate a loud noise. Where had he come from? The door didn’t open just now, did it? Well, she’d answer his question just like the pink cookie did.

“Yes, she’s right, sir. Floraberry fell about a month ago. The Queen and her advisors haven’t been seen since then. Many cookies have fled but some are willing to stay, either because it’s their home or to help others. But everywhere you look, there’s evidence of destruction. Families are..”

She cut herself off. No one needed the painful reminder of lost friends and loved ones. Instead she quickly changed the topic. “But I haven’t seen that many cookies in the past few days, which is strange even here. Is there a gathering somewhere or a safe cottage? Sorry sir, I never got your name..”

This was the time that she was glad of her own space, no groggy mumbles or thumps. Sleep was a bliss and those who disagreed were either foolish or having that luxury every day of their lives.

Lem swapped the bunch of flowers for a couple of coins in her hand after carefully examining them. Excellent, the plants were in a good condition from what she could tell. Elderflowers were incredibly useful for basic medicines but she would have to tend to them later.

She shook her head at the cookie's question and avoided her gaze at the mention of her family. Many were lost due to the destruction and the lucky ones escaped. The ones who stayed behind either wanted to.. or were gone.
"No, I just haven't seen that many cookies is all. Usually there's more, even after the Kingdom fell. Well, thank you for the Elderflowers, Miss. I'm glad I've managed to get some."

The sudden appearance of a pink cookie opening the door almost, and oddly, relieved her. Lem opened the door to the florists, stepping into the fresh scents of the room. “Oh.. hello, Miss. I didn’t realise that the shop was still open. After all that’s happened.. and there’s so few places standing. Hm.. Do you have any Elderflowers, please?”

Her eyes moved around the room, admiring the beautiful plants of Teahaven, all unique and admirable. It was quiet though, and this was a popular shop for flowers. It struck a thought: Where were the other cookies? Lem hadn’t seen many others since the devastation of the kingdom and whilst most had fled, many had stayed. “Do you know where all the other cookies are? I haven’t seen many since… the kingdom was destroyed.”

Fire. Smoke. Destruction

It wasn’t at all what Mango Lemon Cookie was expecting when she woke up that strange morning. Now, even a month later, she found herself dazing at her home. It was reduced to charred wood and blackening ashes, nothing but rubble like the rest of the kingdom, apart from a handful of places that held few cookies like herself who hadn’t fled their home.

Pulling her cloak tighter around her shoulders, a small movement of another cookie caught Lem’s attention. She was briefly pulled away from the thought of her home by the stranger, only catching the the colour of her robe before disappearing out of sight. A traveller, surely. You got to know most of the cookies, even if you hadn’t formally met them.

With another sorrowful look at her home, Lem turned her back to her home, carefully stepping around the chunks of rubble that littered the path towards the flower shop. She always bought flowers from there.. but no one was inside.
