Tien glances at Samton with a slight smile while Samton himself still faces from Kynik. "I sincerely do hope so."

"With that, I'll end the matches for the day. Everyone shall fight the golems Prof. Angler will conjure up." Sir Fisch announced.

To this, Prof. Angler leaned in closer and whispered; "Oh my, running away, a r e n ' t w e ?"
He then proceeded to create quite a few golems without waiting for a reply.
"Since you're knights, I'll have you fight an armed opponent."
He then gave all the golems two-handed longswords, swords and shields, axes, or lances.

"Choose what you believe would be best to fight, and do so. Those who fought Sir Fisch might choose not to participate."

Name: Ramson Holce
Tanji: Tomberlane
Appearance: Ramson has generally unassuming features. He is around 6' 0" (in other words, 5' 11") and has jet black hair and blue eyes. He often wears a black business suit along with an analog watch. He also wears glasses, but they're decorative, and have no power.

Personality: Calm and reserved, Ramson does not always make a lasting impression on those who meet him; and he is satisfied with that. More often than note, he maintains an image of not being interested. In crisis, he always keeps a level head and addresses the problem by its roots. When his interest gets piqued and he is fixated on something, his eyes seem to get much sharper.

Pets/Objects they carry around: He has a pet dove. On the contrary, he does not wear a big pointy hat.
Others: Let them eat cake! No, I'm not Marie, I still have my head.

(Looks like it's too inactive :'( )

Samton rushed to strike from the right, effectively forming a pincir. As Kynik withdrew, Tien followed up from behind. As he was covering himself with Kynik, it seemed he'd caught Sir Fisch out of guard.

Sir Fisch quickly pulled back, before realizing his fatal error. Down he was on the floor. Although he attempted to get back up, he could see that he was mostly surrounded. Hence, he threw his weapon to the ground and put his hands up in the air.

As Samton returned his sword, he heard a chuckle from behind.

"That was certainly one way to use earth magic, master Goldenbach." He turned to see Prof Angler watching the field.

"Well he was observant most of the time, but since he tried to bite off more than he can chew, it couldn't be helped huh?"
Prof Angler was talking as he approached the slightly sullen-faced Sir Fisch. "I hope you don't underestimate mages again."

It seemed to Samton as if the magic faction was getting a well awaited chance to rile the knight faction up, so he decided to join the others.
"Great work out there. You two especially, Sir Kynik and Tien. He was always checking terrain so the pinsir helped break his concentration."

Chapter 1: The Silent Forest Screams

The depths of Aichox Forest have always remained silent. Entry was prohibited to outsiders. It was rumored that none who entered left alive, and so it became second nature for travelers to avoid it.

That day, however, the silence of the forest was broken.
“A party of 6, does it not appear to be?”
“Thus it must be, from what I do see. Shall we deal with them?”
“It has been a while, but our bows are yet to snap. It shall be done swiftly.”
The whispers belonged to two elves, one male and one female, who were standing atop trees. Hardly a second passed, before arrows pierced the head of the unarmored men.

Passing the corpses by, the two walked towards what appeared to be a large iron box, about meter tall. Markus, the male elf, tried to look through the keyhole, but it remained dark inside even after a lamp was shone upon it; it was useless. Luciel, the female elf, attempted to open the box, but was to no avail.

Hence, they decided to report it to the village elder.

The two could never have imagined just how much this box would change their world.

That evening, around the time for the guards to report. Teril, the elder in charge of the guards, greeted them as usual. One by one, the guards gave their report. Soon, it was the turn of Markus and Luciel. The two dragged the box and presented it before the elder Teril.
“Twenty eight metres east from South gate, we happened upon six humans. Two of them were carrying this. As the Emperor of Wind Caelrigas showed them to be of extreme threat, we eliminated them. He wished for us to protect the contents, and thus we present it.”
Saying this, the two bowed and then returned to their positions.

Teril approached the box, observing it. He flinched, causing the assembled guards to ready their weapons. Immediately, he raised his right hand, signaling them to stand down.

“There’s a darkness orb within, but it is not dangerous in any other way. We shall open it as soon as We dispel the orb’s strength.”
Saying this, Teril took out a needle from his tunic and pricked his finger with it. He then let the blood fall through the keyhole drop by drop.

“Luxvilissa! O Fairy Queen of Light!
Dispel The Darkness and Bring Forth Delight!”

A faint light began to glow within the box. It grew brighter, and soon disappeared.

Teril nudged the box, and as though the lock had never existed, the box opened instantly. What they saw inside caused all the Elfs to gasp. Shocking everyone, what they saw inside was a human boy, who looked to be around 10 years of age. The child was sitting with his legs tucked in. As they looked at each other in confusion, he slowly opened his eyes.

“Wh- where am I? Wha.. . .” While speaking, his eyes closed again, as he lost consciousness once more.

The elves all stood in shock, not knowing what to do. The first to regain control was the elder Teril. He reached inside and slowly picked the boy up, taking him out of the box. Laying him on a nearby bench, he inspected the boy from head to toe.

“It appears that the boy fainted due to hunger and tiredness. He seems to have some wounds, but is not unwell other than those. The child is not a threat to the village. We suggest feeding him and taking care of him.”

“Then allow me, Elder. I will take it upon myself to raise the boy.” It was Markus who replied.
“I shall assist him, Elder.” Luciel followed. The two, along with every other elf present, felt sorry for the boy, worried about his unfortunate past

“Very well. Take sufficient from the granaries, and after you have fed him, take him to Taylor and provide him with clothes. Raise him as one of our own.” After instructing the two, the elder turned to everyone.

“From now on, this human child shall be known as ‘Marciel’. He shall be one of us as much as you and We. Treat him as you would treat one of your own.”

To this, the audience bowed, unanimously accepting the decision.

Thank you for reading. I hope you enjoyed and will continue to enjoy!

Accepting criticisms, but please do not post here.

Gineos Chronicles is intended to be a series of many different stories, although this thread only follows this story. I should have given it a sub name but my naming sense is terrible so... yeah I'll just call it "Gineos Chronicles: The First."

Gineos seems to have quite the inspiration from "generic fantasy world" kinda stuff... Blame my LN habits, yeah?

Once again, I hope you enjoy!

EDIT: Gineos Chronicles is now on Wattpad. Do give it a read, as there might be many a variation.

Slight bend, and a thrust. A thrust from the axe was all that was necessary to stop his opponent's attempt.
"Not bad, but don't get ahead of yourself. Were this a true battlefield you'd have died thrice."
As unbelievable as it sounded, both Samton and Tien knew it to be true. A straightforward attack was basically asking to be bounced, which would be followed by a clean swipe of the neck.
Even the thrust just now had hit with tremendous force.

"I'd suggest you stay away when he's rotating. The force is good enough to break your sword in half." Tien shouted.
He jumped forward with a thrust of his own, keeping his sword up and straight. A up-strike from the axe was followed by a kick, causing Tien to fall.

"In that case, I'll focus on pattern-break too. I'll take the first strike, so, let's observe." Saying this, Samton closed his eyes for a moment. Light magic surrounded everyone, becoming a strength and agility enhancement.

Sir Fisch smirked at Kynik's words. "Are you kids ready? I'll give you guys the first strike, so, don't disappoint me now."

"In that case, I'll gladly accept."

With these words, Samton stepped forward from the rest of the group. He gripped his longsword tightly. He lunged forward, readied his blade to strike, and then didn't. Passing by Sir Fisch, he used his momentum to turn and strike from behind. Sir Fisch had turned around as well, and easily blocked the sword with the body of his axe, causing his sword to bounce back. This was followed by a full 360° rotation, causing Samton to fall backwards. Thus, he had to retreat to regain balance.

"This is unlike his strategy with a sword. BE CAREFUL." Samton shouted as he withdrew.

"Now that's the spirit! Sure, four is fine. Get ready." With these words, Sir Fisch withdrew. Surprising nearly everyone, he put his sheathed sword away. He then turned to the armory, opened a locked box and took out an axe with the emblem of the royal knights.

"gulp He's getting serious." Tien muttered.

"Good luck!" Samton grinned as he gave Tien a light smack.

"Prince mage! Why not try it yourself too? You have the training after all." Saying this, Sir Fisch threw Samton a sword. "I feel like giving you little kids a chance."

"If the others are fine with it, don't mind if I do."

A little distance away, Prof. Angler sighed as he kept watching.

"It's alright. Do your best!"

As Sir Fisch got up, Tien approached him. "I would like to participate, sir, and so would Kynik."

Fisch nodded. "Anyone else up for it too?"

Samton reached his hands out and placed his right hand on Kynik's shoulder and his left hand on his right. He kept them there for a minute or so, and then removed them. This whole process might have felt electrifying to Kynik. All Samton did was make the blood flow much faster. This would in turn heal quite a wide variety of wounds, at the cost of the energy of the healed one.

After the healing completed, Samton waved his hands, causing light to fall over Kynik. "An energy enhancement spell. Make sure to eat well."

"The timid type to professors, huh? Reminds me of Eline" Samton whispered so only Tien could hear. Eline was Samton' sister, younger than him by three years and two months, and was rather shy when with her royal tutors. Turning to Kynik, Samton smiled. "No, that won't be necessary. I just needed to know where the wound was. Since it has been a while, I would need contact. Through the jacket is fine. Shall I?"

"I see. Let me call him over then."

With these words, Tien walked over to the mages field and informed Samton of the situation. Nodding, Samton let Prof. Angler know and left for the knight's field.

"Greetings, Mr Kynik. I heard you were in need of some healing. Where would the problem be?"

"You are certainly not wrong, Mr Kynik. I must admit I am curious, though. Which of these suit you?"

Turning to Riley, he giggled slightly. "I suppose so. Mr Kynik's idea of a pincer attack certainly needs speed, but at the same time also one with Endurance to break his combo. In the first place breaking the combo would need two at least, so, who knows?"

Sir Fisch, who had thoroughly defeated the three, sheathed his sword. "Let's take a break for five minutes, shall we? We can decide the next 3 after." With these words, he sat down on a nearby bench.

"Seems like I might be able to find out, rather than hear from you, after all. Mr Kynik, would you like to try? I know someone who could fix you right up." Tien's gaze strayed to the Mages' Field. Just as he had expected, Samton had already finished his golem.

"So that's what it looks like to you, huh? Not bad. You know, Sir Fisch is one of the best knights our kingdom has to offer. The main reason is his rather dangerous fighting style."

Tien's gaze was fixed on Sir Fisch's movements. He wore a small smile. "At each step, when the pattern might break, he uses a heavy thrust to push the opponent away. Unless the opponent wants to get their heart decorating the sword, it'd be better to just hop back. Although he won't go as far today, I believe.

"Either way, he is rather energy-inefficient when fighting alone. Which is why it should be possible for us to wear him down."

Tien turned to the two and smiled. "Provided you have a light mage to replenish your strength, a water mage to replenish your health, and a dark mage to replenish their mana, of course. And a LOT of time."

"Miss Riley, yes? Perhaps I should. Although, Kynik is right about the coordination factor. It would be rather pointless to try to defeat a Royal Knight alone.

The golem was not particularly strong, Samton noticed. He stood still, waiting for his golem to make the first move. After circling Samton a few times, getting closer and closer, the golem suddenly jumped at Samton from behind.

SWOOOOOSH

The sound of air being cut was the last thing the golem heard. The golem fell to the ground, cleanly cut in two from top to bottom by a fell swoop. Following the thud came a splash, as the water which had served as Samton's blade fell to the ground, being of no more use to it's conjurer.

"It does seem rather counter-intuitive, does it not?" Tien smiled at Kynik. Tien had not participated yet, and was starting to feel quite bored. "Why don't you participate for the next round?"

After the incident with the familiars, introductions resumed, albeit in a much more tense nature. Many were curious about the Lady who the familiars belonged to, and quite a bit of them were disappointed at the lack of an introduction.

Lunch passed by quietly, with students being served meals at the cafeteria. There seemed to be three choices for lunch-sets, unlike the buffet they were served in the morning and the day before.

"I hope you are all ready! Since morning was cut short, we will be testing your individual skills today." Prof Angler, who had just arrived at the Mage's Field announced. Saying this, he closed his eyes, and with utmost concentration, motioned as if he was lifting something. The next moment, popping out of the ground were golems the shape of wolves. "One for each of you. Good luck!"

A little farther away, in the Knight's Field, Sir Fisch was fighting 3 students at once. It was clear who were losing, and it was not Sir Fisch.

Samton did not answer, but returned to his seat.

Tien was looking at Talia. His face was neutral but his eyes were pitying her.

"The little wolf of Feyrer has no clue what she would be facing. This development is, interesting. I was right to let her get accepted. She desires to be controlled by power with pride. She embraces it. Poor child has no idea what she has gotten herself into."

"Well, what else shall be expected, given her broken of a head?" Tien paused for a moment. "I still feel a little bad for her, though."

"Darkness is to be used and thrown. Father removed the opposition, the means to which are unimportant.

"Who knows? Perhaps I just might do the same."

"No you won't."

"You're probably right. We don't want another one of these to deal with, now do we."

"My dear, you have no idea what you speak of. Do not get ahead of yourself, taking that little rumour to your heart. Don't consider yourself or your pets to have any power even with your apparent ties with darkness."
The voice resounded loudly to Thalia, but the others heard nothing.
Samton bowed slightly, and whispered. "Pray they never do so. For sake not ours but your own."

Smiling at Thalia, he returned to his seat. What nobody else noticed, however, was the intense bloodlust his eyes housed.
